@marcz29033 жыл бұрын
@@sorrshotgaming2033 right? They let you work, leave openings for you to exploit, don't exploit openings in your defenses as fully as they could, give you time to escape submissions, all so you can learn, and the whole time you just know they're going easy on you. That's a good thing, because you wouldn't learn anything if they just steamrolled you all the time, but every so often they go just a little harder on you and you can just feel how massive the skill gap is.

I remember the first time one of my coaches, a black belt, gave me one of those rolls where he wasn't letting me work (I'm a white belt). I've never felt more helpless in my life. I think every single man (I say man because we tend to think we're pretty tough) should go to a BJJ gym and let a black belt put their hands on them. Of course a blue belt is gonna absolutely handle someone who has no clue what they're doing, but letting someone with the depth of knowledge and experience of a black belt really puts things in perspective.

Just so easily and smoothly transitions with every movement Seth makes. When I first started watching and dabbling in MMA, I thought it was boring and a snoozefest when it comes to grappling and ground control... Once you start developing a very basic understanding of what's going on, it turns into the most exciting and fascinating part of MMA. Especially when you have two high level jujitsu guys in their element. It's like a high stakes chess match and they calculate every movement.

So much respect to Ryron. He's such a patient practitioner of BJJ that it's almost too easy to misunderstand him and what he's doing. So many folks think in terms of "points" and "submissions"....in other words "winning" and thus they struggle to appreciate the "survival" aspect of how Ryron trains and teaches. He's training and teaching for the world out there...where there are no judges counting points....and no clock on the wall where you have to reach a submission before time runs out. There's only a bad guy who has to be worn down and survived. In the contextual frame that Ryron teaches within, "not losing" is winning.
