My experience with karate classes is being left in one for one evening as part of a babysitting program for single parents, and then a kid half my age walked up and started beating on me because he actually took the class but was too young to understand I wasn't. Then the teacher came in as I was pushing him away from me and put me in a headlock and screamed at me for starting a fight with his kids and ignored me crying the explanation out. Made me wanna die, very cool

my only experience with one was a free class i had bc of the after school program at my elementary school and back then my autism was REALLY bad like i would break down nonstop bad and… yeah i think you can guess how it went uh but if you can’t then yes i did break down multiple times then the piece of shit that was teaching it (if you see this i will find you and it won’t be good) FUCKING PICKED ME UP and hauled me back to the front for the rest of the time .-. literally like a kid on a dad’s shoulder type shit like bro what the fuck 🧐 and mind you i was in 3rd grade and he didn’t even try to help me or anything he just heaved me over his shoulder and carried me back to the front and ever since then i NEVER stepped foot in one ever again and i most definitely never will bc everyone who is associated with “karate” is worthless and are probably on death row bc of how fucked up they are mentally and physically

As a black belt, this is going to be hilarious. Update after watching: So the martial arts in this are legit, it's basically Shotokan with some minor adjustments. Counting in Japanese is pretty typical in Japanese martial arts classes in the west. The problem is that learning martial arts from an animated lion is an objectively terrible decision XD. When you're just starting, it's so critical to have a live instructor who can make some adjustments to your stance/technique and make sure you aren't building bad habits. This is such a weird idea for a series and the film part of my brain is itching that these were two separate ideas that got smooshed together. You would not have block + reverse punch on a white belt test. White belt tests are like, the two basic punches, front kick, the simple blocks and one Kata, in Shotokan anyway. The analysis that this is for more intermediate people is pretty accurate, I'd say like lower intermediate level but definitely not a good beginner resource. As for each class feeling roughly the same...yeah, that's accurate haha. You do largely the same techniques every day to build muscle memory and while they do throw in some varied exercises here and there and you do work on different techniques as you get higher, a lot of each class is just grinding the basics.
@sunnyandthechlo8 ай бұрын
Wasn't the roundhouse kick at the end of day 3 absolutely not a roundhouse kick or was I taught wrong?
@Jabadamazo8 ай бұрын
@@sunnyandthechlo It was for the most part, their form wasn't very good but they're kids :P. The way we were always taught it was leg up to straight knee height (if that makes sense. I mean like your thigh is parallel with your knee and your leg is hanging down), pivot your hip, kick. They...kinda sorta did that well enough I guess.
@sunnyandthechlo8 ай бұрын
@@Jabadamazo Oh okay thanks! I thought there was more pivoting involved lol
@Jabadamazo8 ай бұрын
@@sunnyandthechlo Again kind of? You do pivot but it's not as pronounced as the kind of stereotypical movie roundhouse kick, but it also does vary by style of martial art.

This is actually far less repetition than necessary for any level of martial arts learning. Like, you would need to repeat a single move, more times, than you could possibly do, in several times the runtime, of this entire program, to even get a feel of the body mechanics and muscle memory needed, to correctly perform that one move.

I genuinely can’t pick a favorite kfp, but it’s tied between 2 n 3. 2 has the best plot of the series overall, but 3 has something I’ve never seen in a family movie before - that being po’s plotline with his adoptive + birth fathers. it’s rare you even get a story explicitly about the relationship between a child n their adoptive parent(s), let alone one where the birth parent(s) are also alive n a part of it without being villains. the way 3 showed both of po’s fathers navigating being his parents even though neither of them knew of the other’s existence all without ever insinuating po is stupid for feeling conflicted was masterful storytelling imo
