I Saved $1000 on My 370z Convertible Top Repair

Awesome! I have a Camaro convertible where the stitching has come apart on the straight section right above the window, on the edge like yours. I stopped at an upholstery shop and they said they don’t fix them, only replace them. But aside from that 4” section on both sides, the top is good. I figured, it can’t be that hard to do this by hand. You just proved it.

GREAT idea, information, and video Mike! I have the same issue with my top, and the dealership wanted over $4000 to replace the top or $1800 to repair it (and keep the car for a couple of weeks). Going to Michaels today. Thanks again!

Great video got all the supplies from Michael’s did it today. What made it easier was sticking the straight pins in the stitch holes overnight the next day it was very easy to feed the needle through the holes.

You made it look so easy and well it wasn't lol. But I did get it back together using the sewing awl. That curved section was a tough spot. At least with the awl my stitches looked more even! Thanks again for your very helpful video.

Thank you for an EXCELLENT video. I was debating whether or not to "GLUE" my convertible seam that came apart like yours. I believe I will now make an attempt to stitch it myself.

Superb! I was trying a similar repair on my Porsche Boxster Convertible roof WITH A SPEEDY-AWL, but I think just a REGULAR STRAIGHT NEEDLE is much better and much better control. THANK YOU! I'll try that next...

lucky you. My top is so hard not even with pliers the needle goes through.I May have found a solution. A leather awl may be able to pull it off.

@@duckthis17 if they could make a car that's actually nice and solid, like a z car is, we wouldn't have to drive 10 year old designs hahaha Mine is a 2016 and it'll be the LAST new car I ever buy. I'm the mechanic laughing at everyone that has to drive new cars nowdays. I make so much money off these new cars issues. Already paying off my second mansion sized home, no bs hahahaha 2 homes in 12 years. Very good money. Nissan Z cars only require me to install twin turbos. They don't need very much repair, when compared to all the other new vehicles.
