Oh, finally a real solution to the problem. I was told that the actuator piston is bad - undersized - and can only be replaced together with the whole roof mechanism for £3750. TY!!!

Hopefully you respond but mine almost closes but when it’s trying to push the top down, to close it fully it doesn’t. I’m thinking it’s the fabric under the latch cause it is lose I’m thinking it’s getting cause to get stuck.

Dude I've been installing this kit over and over again for the past two months following the service bulletin by the letter and could not for the life of me get it to operate without pinching the spring between and behind the elbow joint. The straps were always about 2-3 inches short to make the bolt hole without pulling the spring through the D ring. The install instructions show the tether wrapped around the black bar and coming around front but it does not work that way. I see that you have it not wrapped around the black bar and pulled right off the rivet plate to the d ring. My question is, have you any pinching with the way you have the spring cable run here? I'm about desperate to finish this job and ensure it's working properly so the car can get out of the shop and back into the owner's hands.

Hello I'm pretty sure I followed the bulletin to the letter, the spring was very hard to pull to get to the end bolt but definitely no pinching Happy to discuss over a video call if that helps ? Regards Team VagPro

@@CabrioletTech I found the problem! D ring was in the old D ring hole. Just being able to pause and look at what you've got here was an immense help. I cannot express enough gratitude for this upload. Time to button this thing down for the final time, hopefully. Thanks again!

To expensive for new bungees. Why can't you just take up some slack on the old cords. Easy enough to do and save $500.00.

Of course, but the old ones are past their elastic limit so permanently deformed But if you really want to save money, why bother just do it manually ?
