I wonder what history books would call that particular war? A bit dull, but perhaps "War of Unity", signifying how it was engaged to return the lands lost during Succession, as well as how it got nearly all of Iberia to ally with Leon despite much of the armies still recovering from wounds inflicted upon each other.

If you have exclave rules enabled non coastal disconnected holdings should go independant upon AI succession (not sure of that includes lands owned by the monarch). CK3 is goofie but holding disparate lands all over the place was a medieval reality but represented poorly or not at all in game. No excussing 'greatest ally' behaviour, the AI is committed to fighting all foreign wars from which they gain nothing.

I’ve got thousands of hours on CK3 and didn’t know the defending in terrain mechanic is dependent on holdings in that tile. Great vid as always

That only applies if we're talking about castle buildings. Otherwise, when it's a city, temple or empty holding the defender is gonna be whatever army was sitting in that holding and the attacker is whatever army that was trying to move to that holding. Did I make sense?

​@@cancionCR7 close but not quite. It depends on if the province is fortified. So a city with 1 or more fort levels (or more likely a temple.) or the region capital. (if your seiging say an Archbishopric or grand republic) may well require a full siege to take. in that case the force reliving the siege still is defender while the attacker is the invading force. this can also come into play in regions with either the Marches or seige works duchy buildings. and of course some special cities have unique buildings that give them walls (like Venice's Doge Palace)

If you get one of those wierd inheritance, and its far from the the new realm and its landlocked, like in your case, you can wait for a bit and it will become independent. Depending on the game setting it can take a while, but you spare the war against a bigger liege. Cool video by the way.

I just run murder plots on the liege repeatedly until they are weak.

​@@parkerpope1163 I think after 1 or 2 succession for the liege and your target gets the independence anyways, but I dont really know what triggers it. (However rmurdering everyone standing in your way is a tested path to victory :D )

@@BZolti usually what happens is they become so weak that a dissolution or independence faction forms and defeats them leading to various independent states. Only other ways to independence is if a realm is inherited by someone of the same rank as the previous liege.

I think that only works if the exclave is the only land held by that vassal. If he also holds any land within Iberian Leon, the realm would stay together. In that case you would need to run murder schemes until the main title holder's Succession caused their lands to split between sons and only one held that particular county. At that point you stop genociding a Dynasty and only need to assassinate the king of Leon. Upon his death the son that inherited the single county next to you would be independent and you could spend your final years (because of how long that would all take) waging an easy war and building the county back up.

Small tip - around 11 minutes in you swap focus from authority to domain, but you had 975/1000 in military - should’ve let it ding for two more months then switch!

Instead of demanding a council position from your king with that hook you should have used the hook to modify your contract to secure guaranteed council rights permanently (unless you had already modified the contract previously as that character of course). Great vid as always though - you don't just help and teach people, you tell a compelling story and your vids always have amazing production value. 🎉. Keep it up.

in 16:20 with your hook you should've changed vassal contract that gives you option to demand council position instead of demanding it for hook. You probably know why so i dont need to explain

@@VinceDick If you use the hook to modify your contract for council rights not only can you then demand a council position your future heirs can as well. Just be mindful that if your realm splits so multiple children are under the same liege your contract is cloned so your siblings can demand seats to. Try to remember to demand the position you want as soon as you start a new character or you have a new liege to avoid someone else claiming the position first, or in the case of being offered and accepting the position getting you fired in favor of themselves.

I like that you don't insult your viewers. You gotta be careful when declaring war on iberian rulers because depending on the struggle phase other iberian rulers can offer to join their wars in exchange of payment if they get a predetermined warscore, its actually a good way of making money when your playing there. Its been a while I dont play in Iberia and dont remember which phase(s) allow that kind of contract.
