i’ll be honest- i had high hopes for this movie and my expectations were met. i also don’t know how to explain the way this movie affected me. i’ve seen some ppl say that they started sobbing as soon as the credits began to roll, i’ve also seen some ppl say that it was just a “weird movie”. in my opinion, this movie most definitely shifted smth in me that i didn’t know could be shifted. i am not trans, but you don’t need to be to feel the euphoria, loneliness, nostalgia and emptiness that this movie presents. this isn’t a movie for everyone, but everyone who watches this movie will feel differently about it. and i think that’s what cinema has been missing nowadays- original and passionate stories. this movie is most certainly one of those rare gems.

This movie was partially filmed in my little town of keansburg, New Jersey. I remember when they were filming this movie, everyone in town was excited, I understand why they wanted to use our little town. We have that boardwalk, that is a gem.... and our New York skyline views can not be beat.

I recently watched this movie at my local theater last night and I don’t think I’ve had a movie impact me as hard as this since Moonlight. The moment the credits rolled up I was startled and had to sit there to soak in everything. This movie was vulnerable, isolating, and full of so much dread and heart. My cousin passed in February and I’ve been watching movies to pass the time and to distract myself - but something about this one really struck home with me. 10/10 Edit: I will say this movie is obviously not for everyone. It’s very abstract, weird and slow. a lot of people love it and a lot very much dislike it.

@@CheyanneRayne I will say that this movie is nothing like Moonlight or The Florida Project where it focuses heavy on the realism! This movie is definitely very weird and has a strong abstract element with a slower pace. If you’re comfortable with movies that really take you to a surrealistic state then I definitely recommend it! I haven’t stopped thinking about the movie since I’ve seen it.

Saw this at the Berlin Intl Film Festival with a Q&A from Jane Schoenbrun, it is quite unlike anything I've ever seen before and I saw that in the best way possible. Truly something special. That said, it is going to be incredibly divisive, people will either love it or hate it with no in-between. Also, little disheartning seeing so many comments prasing A24 and not Jane themselves, it's their movie! They worked incredibly hard on it and it is a very personal project, they deserve all the praise in the world.

Having seen the movie I can tell you the thing about this trailer is, while technically it shows some (not all) of the best images of the movie, seeing the actual film will give them context and narrative that I guarantee will blow you away. A power pole was stuck next to our place. next thing i know after the bang was a glowing ball of light emerge out of the T.V. looked almost white hot/ yellow+red. roughly the size of a yoga ball you sit on at the gym. It just hovered ~1-2 feet off the ground as it emerged from the T.V. towards us then vasished after 3-4 ft of movement from the T.V. That memory is burning into my mind. you should note the T.V. wasnt damaged from this it worked fine after.

*Written and directed by another one of my many heartless fans.* Part of me wonders what Britney thinks when she sees this kind of fictional entertainment, but I have to wonder just as much about all the other women that have also been intruders into my story. Mr. Melancholy vs Mister Insideout.
