One of my favorite moments in the first movie was when Eric was talking to Sarah (the little girl), and she says to him "you never even said goodbye." And he says "You have to forgive me for that." Not even like "well I'm here now and we can talk!" He's speaking as someone who's life is over. He's ONLY there to do what the Crow returned him to do. Such a perfect little touch.

@13thvoz8 ай бұрын
Also, he didn't want to be doing what he was doing. He had to. And he wasn't just himself brought back. He is a shadow of who he was. He exists... But barely. It makes him otherworldly. And was in pain at existing when he didn't want to and wasn't supposed to. There is that scene where he is angry at remembering who he is. Brandon Lee played the pain, this seems to be going for intentional rage and like someone who wants revenge. Doesn't work...doesn't feel like a spirit if he's just going to become the punisher.

There's so much memorable quotes from Brandon Lee's version like "It can't rain all the time" also the scene where Eric and Officer Darryl have that moment where he talks about what happened to him and Shelly only for Eric to say "Funny, little things used to mean so much to Shelly. I used to think they were kinda trivial. Believe me, nothing is trivial." You can't get those soft touching moments without those characters and to slow the flow of the film down by making the movie trailer seem like an all around blood fest since there were moments where Eric would sit there thinking about all the good times with Shelly also him playing his guitar which that scene him on the roof of his apartment playing it busting loud on such a small roof top of his apartment building and smashing the guitar and amp. You can't get those moments by this modern adaptation.

There's so many memorable lines and scenes that this reboot I feel won't have the same emotional impact of affect like the original. While the original wasn't "great" what made it good was how sincere Eric was when he talked to two people that were a part of his life to help sort what happened to him and Shelly and to get his revenge but also do it all for the love for her. You honestly felt like he loved her without having to see every detail of their life just to little memory flashbacks through the movie Eric had. Sometimes less is more. The reboot will show a long af explanation of their love life and everything boring that we don't really need to watch or see just show us the reasons why Eric loved her not the boring aspects where how they met this and that.

Brandon Lee signed up for a completely different movie. The finished 94 film is incomplete and censored, something that probably went against Brandon's wishes. Also no Skull Cowboy or no talking crow in the finished film is something Brandon wouldn't have liked to see cut from the film. Can you imagine working on your last film that was so awesome that once you died, they'd not only censor it, but they cut out stuff you would have wanted everyone to see? Be lucky enough that you live with the fact that the film was finished at all, because they were about to shelve it and forget about it, but they found more oil selling it as a tribute film to bait those who love a dead man. Remember, it was made by Hollywood, they never cared about Brandon Lee or his views once he died. Much like they couldn't care less of who will give their heart and souls for films, as long as people keep Hollywood in relevancy. Don't blame them for making trash when you and the rest of the people here can't make good entertainment for yourselves.

Someone probably already said this, but the original is also about grief and the fact that frequently no one can go back and fix the actual bad things that happen. Eric doesn’t get to stay alive and Shelly was still brutalized and killed. There’s no getting away from that, there’s just a chance kill the killers and possibly help some good people along the way. The plot of the reboot describes a chance to save Shelly. I don’t know how that’s going to play out, but if she is actually brought back from the dead to live out the rest of her life, then that completely misses the mark of a SIGNIFICANT part of the first film and James O’Barr’s whole point behind the original graphic novel!
@blazinpuffs7 ай бұрын

@@blazinpuffs According to the leaks that's what happens. Bad guy steals her soul and Eric is told in the Land of the Dead by the guy who is apparently this film's version of the Skull Cowboy that he is on a time limit to complete his mission that mission being avenge their murders, and free Shelly's soul so it can properly crossover to the afterlife before he returns to the Land of the Dead. That's an aspect of the comics that all of the movies and the TV Show ignore is that whoever becomes The Crow will eventually have to return to the Land of the Dead so he or she is on a time limit to complete his or her mission of vengeance and justice before the inevitable return to the Land of the Dead.

I love it but a lot of you old heads are saying the new one sucks but it makes more sense and looks better than this old one. I downloaded it off a site and OMG it looks so old movie ish with awful cgi and so boring.

I don't like the idea that Eric and Shelly were formally criminals. I get it, redemption. But! These were two innocent people, murdered by monsters!
@sanditaranto49805 ай бұрын
Agreed. And the whole point was that Draven was ordinary. Not a thug killing other thugs... he was a regular joe living his life. But then he had to come back from beyond to set the universe right by bringing justice to those who murdered his love. The Crow should make the beloved feel that the lover will transcend everything, even death itself, to bring justice for them. The Crow is about the power of love and how it can burn so strong that even the ends of the earth cannot contain it--even death cannot contain it. Brandon's Draven was phenomenal because he was just a guy. Any guy. His wife was any woman. Both of them were so very ordinary (albeit quite attractive) that any person could imagine themselves in the film.
@shewow86125 ай бұрын
More than that, it was a dispute with a slum lord who was trying to stop them from creating a resident coop that would protect their rights in the building. It had a pretty clear message. Making them former felons seems a little mean spirited considering the original movie. On the other hand, the source material is bigger than the movie. There are comics, novels, and plenty of other Crows to work with. Why not choose one of them or make a whole new one? The whole thing is that Eric Draven was only ONE Crow out of many. It just requires an unrelated soul who died violently with unfinished business and a driving force to rise (love). They didn't need to rehash Eric and Shelley.
@heathboulay77435 ай бұрын
The 1 and only "The Crow" that movie can't ever be topped. Brandon is likely the Keanu/Matrix star that nobody could ever touch if he did not pass! So we have 3 pathetic sequels thus far? I like the new actor, Bill Skarsgard, seems like story line prob sucks, the original movie had so many characters, that you could neg/pos identify with, "T" bird, Funboy, Tin Tin (aka Lord Nikon) from one of my favs, lets not forget Skank(This ghost gonna kill my ass" "Painted up like some kinda dead whore")( " I feel like a lil tiny fish, on a big fucking hook!!") Even Gideon the pawn shop owner!! all characters are MONEY, Ernie Hudson aka Winston Zeddemore, "ive seen shit that will turn you white" Ghostbusters 1984 incredible in his role... can't be topped!!!

Brilliantly put. The Crow has a hallowed place in film history for a number of reasons. It's a monument to love and tragedy that should never, ever have been touched. It should have been left alone. I feel bad saying this because I'm sure the people involved did their best but this movie deserves to fail.

I saw the original when I was 10 years old...back when the movie came out on VHS... I'm living for the comments for this trailer. They made this Crow look too evil. Like a Villain. The original had a gentleness to him. A mysteriousness. The pain was more on the inside... This Crow looks like someone I wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley.
