Geoff has commented that if his vision for a song is a cappella it's for VoicePlay, but if it's not, it's for his channel. So we shouldn't expect a cappella from Geoff's channel. He's also commented that he works during the day for VoicePlay, and does his channel in the evening. It isn't just laying down tracks. He does extensive research on a song BEFORE he arranges it, because if someone else has already used the ideas he has, "what's the point?" And just research is a 2-3 day process. So, he has to generate an idea for a song, find something interesting to do with it, research to see what others have done, and then - if it's still a go - sit down and do the work of the arrangement. Meanwhile Kathy is getting permissions for the song and they are generating ideas for a location/set, Kathy is assembling costumes, props, etc., plus scheduling the location, finding camera people, makeup, etc. etc. It's a huge process. He creates the tracks for the audio and edits them together, (and given that he's such a perfectionist, that's not a quick process) and then they are finally ready to go to location and film. And THEN he has to edit the visuals, and combine them with the audio, and ship it off for final edit. All of this has been discussed in his interviews...

"I hope that you remember me," always touches me; like, "We who are about to die salute you," but with wonderful harmonies.

Geoff solo - instruments. Voiceplay - a capella.

This is my favorite of his Hobbit series. The emotion he portrays is done so well!

Thank you Klown for finally reacting to my favourite Dwarf song of Geoff. This one shows off his impressive vocal range quite nicely. Every Dwarf has its destinct range and timbre and is shown with a solo line. I think, with this one he started to do that instead of being his clones mere background vocals. And for your small criticism of having no real fire, l think it is because of the layering process. To make the layering of the different video streams seemless everything including the lighting has to be predictable & repeatable and real fire adds to much randomness.

All three of Geoff's tunes related to Tolkien's Middle Earth are wonderful. Thanks for the reaction. It can't be actual fire in the video because he has to edit the video to add each of his clones and he is the only thing that can change to do that. Remember that he's filming at Pattycake in a mall....probably all kinds of regulations against real fire too...plus Layne and Tony having something to say 🙂It makes for a very long filming day for these with all of the makeup changes.

I'm surprised you didn't comment on the snares.... which are shovels in sand and in mud. Fun fact: when he got the play button for his channel, he opened it in front of patrons on a chat.

This one is still my favorite "LotR-Dwarves" song by Geoff (and one of my Top 5 Multiple-Geoff songs at all, if not the No.1). I think, it's because of the song by Ed Sheeran. It's more of an "every day song" than "Durin's Song" for example. I like that, too! It sounds amazing, but the Tolkien poem is (as well as the Misty Mountain song), not something to listen to on every day, like the Ed Sheeran song - at least for me. :)

Just a suggestion to improve your reactions: it would really help if you rewind the song a few seconds every time you pause. Pausing and then resuming without going back can make it easy to miss key details, especially transitions or changes in the music. Taking that extra moment to re-listen could really elevate your commentary and show you're catching everything the artist intended. I’m holding off on subscribing for now because I keep hoping for that improvement, but I’ll definitely hit the button once I see it!

Well said, and Klown should turn on the captions, as there are some goodies hidden there sometimes. Same with Voiceplay videos. Geoff wants to make sure everyone can enjoy the songs due to Kathys hearing loss.

I also agree with you. I always feel when they’re doing a live stream they miss a lot because they’re simultaneously reading the chat lines and trying to watch the video that they’re reacting to at the same time.
