@APS Chauhan Indian Punjabis (both Hindu and Sikhs) as a whole have always been at the forefront when it comes to serving for the country. Khalistan thing doesn't track much support in Punjab either. It's only those Sikhs who don't even live in Punjab. Btw, Chauhans in Pakistan (yes, they've people with this surname too) also call themselves Punjabis, Rajput Punjabis to be precise.

In the deliberation at the very end, Ambassador you said about sensible people in Pakistan, but do they really carry any weight, or their views count in Pakistan, you did not elaborate on it. What counts in Pakistan is their army, in every aspect, and you are absolutely right that we can never trust, Punjabi dominated and to much extent radicalised Pak army. The only treatment is obvious without words.

Good chat. Was hoping to hear more about Parthasarathy's views on the post Kargil diagnosis in Pakistan about the misadventure and the conclusion that it was planned entirely by 4 generals without any political involvement.
@palanharish44645 жыл бұрын
All well spoken, but what parthasaarthy just said in the last 20 Seconds, is unacceptable. This is exactly the kind of problem that bugs us - a forgiving & self destructive tendency in some of our frontline fellows till this day, since the Mahabharata period. Arjun's predicament or Dharam Sankat to put it precisely was demolished by bhagwaan krishna on the battle field. Wake up Hindus and stay mentally strong - ruthlessly, mercilessly & ferociously offensive, never defensive in Ur mindset. Jai Hind...
@neumoi33245 жыл бұрын
Palan Harish - Absolutely right. The belief that ahimsa under all circumstances is a virtue is a self defeatist attitude. The only language that Punjabi Muslims of Pakistan Army understand is that if you step on our toes we will cut off your feet.

Pruthvi raj Chauhan defeated Mohamad Ghauri in the first battle of Tarain Ghauri understood how rajputs fight: that Rajput fight only from sunrise to sunset and how ethically a Rajput fight is more important than winning the battle So the next year he came and attacked the rajputs at night and won and established the first Islamic kingdom

The statement that Army was told not cross LOC was appreciated by Foreign powers What BS is this. This probably is one of the causes for heavy casualties and loss of precious, innocent Indian army lives
@adityabhan52995 жыл бұрын
@john doe What a joke! The Indian Army fought off the enemy from Tololing Ridge, Drass, Kargil, Mushkoh Valley, Tiger Hill, and numerous other features despite having one hand tied behind its back by the Government of India. None of these features were regained through diplomatic negotiations. In fact, our government decided to give safe passage to the surviving infiltrators when we were in a position of strength, by prematurely agreeing to a ceasefire.
@adityabhan52995 жыл бұрын
@john doe If the government hadn't restricted us from crossing the LC, we would've severed their logistics channel from Skardu within 48 hours, and the infiltrators would not even have grass to eat within a few days. The frontal assaults caused us massive casualties. Our ability to regain territory was never in question. It is just that a lot of needless Indian blood was spilt because of the manner in which we went about it.
@adityabhan52995 жыл бұрын
@john doe Many of those casualties were a result of frontal assaults. If we'd avoided this naive tactic, crossed the LC, and cut the enemy's logistics, we'd have finished the war earlier and with fewer casualties.
@adityabhan52995 жыл бұрын
@john doe One quarter the cost??? We lost far too many men. We'd have lost very few, had we launched special operations along the Skardu-Kargil axis and disrupted the enemy's logistics. The 7:1 or 9:1 ratio came into play only because we were forced to carry out frontal assaults. This was completely avoidable.
@adityabhan52995 жыл бұрын
@john doe True! And the political dispensation at the time, ended up being over-conservative.

But senior leadership failed to react and we lost so many soldiers.

I can't seem to stomach the fact that Mr G . I guess he forgot to mention the Chinese. Who not only built a road in our territory now ( aksai chin) in 50's but it took us a decade to discover it . And now we don't even have it.!!!!!!!! Which one is the bigger failure? Sir tell me

Excerpt from Naseem Zehra book Sartaj Aziz pointedly asked his PM whether the plan the army had made was not contrary to the undertaking in the Lahore Declaration. “Sartaj Aziz Sahib, can we ever take Kashmir through paperwork? We have here an opportunity to take Kashmir,” was a relaxed Nawaz Sharif’s response. By contrast, his foreign minister was perturbed. He was clear that this operation would not help Pakistan get international support for Kashmir.

GP is a good man. But this interview is irrelevant because Gen V. P. Malik has covered most of these points quite succinctly in his book. He has also accepted that the initial belief of the local commanders that mujahideen were involved in the infiltration as a failure of the military intelligence. Gen Malik has further said that only four Pakistan military officers were involved in the planning of the Kargil operations. That Nawaz Sharief was informed at a much later stage by telling him that if Kashmir could be separated from India then Sharief’s name would be written in golden letters and that he would be sung as the liberator of Kashmiris. So Sharief also started seeing a dream for himself. At this point it was not possible to safely retreat from the occupied heights. Gangadharan could have probed the ambassador on these aspect. Gen Musharraf’s statement that even if Kashmir issue is resolved the attempt to destabilise India, which he (read Pakistan Army and puppet political leaders) regards as a hegemonic state, would continue, is new. This should make Indian government sit up and think seriously.

Government has not taken lessons from Kargil seriously. There are two phases of Kargil war. Pre'bofors and Post Bofors artillery induction. The first phase India was losing miserably and the second phase we got a fighting chance. Lesson learnt - use your Artillary, helicopters, missiiles, RPGs and drones first before using army as cannon fodder and not the other way round, and be prepared for the worst scenario don't scramble after the damage is done.

We need more South Indians or people from South India in the diplomatic relations especially in Pakistan and Bangladesh. The reason being that in the past and even now sometimes there is still a soft corner in some North Indians who see Pakistani people as their long lost brothers ( it is true in many cases) but this is not wrong on the people Level but when it comes to relations between governments, the Pakistani Army and establishment is much more devious than what the people in the Indian government especially North Indian community think who have has some family ties with the people or with the place living in the Pakistan . This has been misused by the Pakistani Government and Army and its ISI on numerous occasions. Let it be Sikh Community for a very good example. If you think I have anything against my own people in North India, don't get me wrong. But time and time again this has been true especially and mostly with India Pakistan relations .
