I had a B.S.A. .22 round ball pump rifle. It was very powerful, dated 1892 if I remember right. I used to dispatch chicken's & rabbit's during butchering time, with it. Beautifully blued, Walnut stock..should have kept it!

Nice collection. I have owned a crosman mk 2, it was quite nice. Sadly i've lost track of it. It was a replica of a Ruger mk 2 .22 rimfire pistol that I have and shot many pistol matches with. I only still own 2 air pistols now, a RWS Diana 6m recoiless piston pistol, very nice sights and very accuriate. And my favorite is a Baikal Izh-46 single stroke pneumatic, superb sights and trigger it's almost like cheating in a match. Glad that people still collect and appreciate nice air guns. Cheers from the USA

I had a Dianna Mark 4, 60 years ago, I remember it as being quite powerful and fun to shoot. The only problem was that there was no safety when cocking it. When it was open and cocked, as you were putting the pellet in it would sometimes fire and the cocking leaver would fly back catching your fingers and hand. You soon learned to get that pellet in fast.

...I have a complete Shakespeare Acro 1 that I purchased new in the early 1970's in Ontario, Canada.....They have a 'poured' wax CO2 piercing seal that I repaired with a Crosman seal for a 38T....I put a bolt through the Crosman seal and tightened a nut down on it,...then spun it in my drill press while filing it down to the proper diameter....It worked great, but if I do it again i will make it very slightly wider as I did not take into account that it swelled when I tightened the nut, thus shrinking back a slight amount when the nut was removed....You have to be very careful not to break the piercing pin or you're really screwed....Anyway, it's working fine and shoots very strong and more accurate than they're given credit for (maybe I have a really good barrel on mine....) I have a small collection myself...3x 38T first variant, vintage 1322 w/14"barrel used for 'ratting' , early CP88, M92fs, Daisy 747 w/lothar barrel...and an Anschutz 250 10M rifle ....and a few others......I liked your video...John(west coast, Can.)....BTW, the Shakespeare was made under licence from the Ampell Co. in the USA...which were BB as well as pellet...called a Plink 'n Whiz....

That Benjamin model 177 front pump pistol was made in 1935, they were made for 1 year before the model number was changed, there was the 177 and 122 which changed to models 107 and 102. There was also a model 100 smooth bore. They were a nickel finish over the brass, and a very thin black finish over the nickel layer. You do not pump them in your hand because that's too difficult, you push against a hard surface with the palm of your supporting hand against the rear plug of the tube. If you just hold it by the grip you're putting too much stress on the screws that attach the lower receiver.

I'd imagine that the .17 hmr cartridge hadn't been invented when that Saxby and Palmer revolver was made so they like the .22 might be banned now to stop people converting them to .17 hmr? although it'd be tricky as those air cartridges are centre fire and .22 long rifle and .17 hmr are rimfire.

A fascinating collection! Just a couple of questions. I am just curious as to the legal situation in New Zealand regarding ownership of air pistols - do they have to be registered there? And secondly, have you any advice regarding sourcing of seals and o-rings for obsolete air pistols? I have a dozen or so in my firearms collection, and since I live in a remote area of Australia, I need to turn to the internet for spares (the gun shops in the nearest capital city are no help). I have some old Webleys, Crossmans, Dianas, a S & W 79g and a Walther LP2 that all need some attention, and since I am an internet dinosaur in my 70's and not very computer savvy I could do with some assistance!
@edaggs16773 жыл бұрын
Air pistols are easy to own over here, you just have to be over 18 years of age. The hard part is finding them for sale and coughing up the huge amount that they seem to be worth here at the moment! Can't help you with a Aus supplier of parts but there is a seal maker in Aus for new seals, they are called Custom Air seals. Parts might be imported from JG Airguns or Knibbs spares if the import part is easy enough on your end? Good luck, some of your pistols sound like they are certainly worth restoring!
@CitizenSmith503 жыл бұрын
@@edaggs1677 Many Thanks! Over here any Air Gun is treated as a firearm; I have even had to register my Daisy Red Ryder, which was purchased about 6 decades ago as a child's toy !The Authorities have just passed laws making Gel Blasters firearms which have to be registered !! Yet still people are stabbed to death by kitchen knives or screwdrivers, and they chose to ignore those; I have yet to hear of anyone killed by a Gel Blaster !
