I was mega-hyped for this gun going back to it's initial announcement at SHOT '19.I always knew it would be a great 3gun pistol, but it's a bit surprising how few people I come across that even know it exists. (I got mine in March and even shot it at Zombies last month btw kzbin.info/www/bejne/rpW0l2N6ZdtgopI) This comment is going to be enormous, but you have just stepped on the landmine that is my interest in this pistol. 0:47 - they had something like 4 or more SKU's lined up when it was announced. I think it was full size in 9mm or .40, and then the compact in 9 and .40 with and without rails. I kind of wonder if they intended the full size .40 to be the flagship since it would be such a good fit for USPSA limited. But maybe after seeing everybody switching to 9-minor divisions in the last few years they won't even bother with that one. 1:08 - mine does that too. 1:28 - I think CZ bought DW before it was announced. Maybe this gun was part of why they did in the first place? Or just a good idea after the fact. 5:35 - Respectfully disagree! Not game-changing differences, but worth mentioning IMO. What it does that a 2011 doesn't 1. The grip, frame, and mags are all sized for 9mm. Ergos are subjective, but this gun just feels properly sized for what it is. The 2011 design as we know it was built solely for the purposes of a double stack .45 magazine. 2. Customization. If you want to change the grip on your 2011, the cheapest thing you could do would be to buy a $200+ plastic stippled grip. If you want a metal one, double or triple that. And there's no guarantee that you won't have to do some fitting to it (potentially losing all resale value.) Maybe I'm ignorant, but to my knowledge, Atlas are the only company offering replaceable 2011 grip panels. But it's Atlas, you're not getting into one of those for less than $5,000. But with the DWX you have a huge existing aftermarket for grips that can change shape, texture, and weight. (And that don't need to be worked on to fit your gun) 3. Cheaper more reliable magazines. You can find P10-F 19-round mags for less than $40 online. (Right now they're on sale on als.com for $28 each.) The cheapest comparable magazine for a 2011 is the $60 MSRP Duramags introduced last year. And again, because the overall envelope of the magazine was sized for longer and fatter cartridges, some fitting/tuning may be required. Think of any time you've seen somebody's 2011 repeatedly fail at a match. Their full-custom racegun just ruined their day because they dared use off-the-shelf Staccato mags, or didn't invoke the sacred rites of the machine-spirit when bending feed lips that cost $120 already. 4. Modernized design. Linkless barrel, no bushing, external extractor, no grip safety. What it does that a CZ doesn't The blessed union of 1911 safety and trigger. There is no better. "Yea but my tac-sport tangerine -" NO. If we're talking SAO, get out of my face with any other fire control system. 10:00 - yeah, I would've liked more. But I was so excited for it, I bought a small pile of mags just for it back in 2021. 10:28 - YES. No excuse, DW. I sent mine off for an SRO cut as soon as I knew it functioned. They just recently released the carry version, too. kzbin.info/www/bejne/r6K2faCrba12b9k and not only is it irons-only, but it doesn't even have a rail like the full size. We waited four YEARS and you limp out of the gate like this? Get it together, Dan Wesson. My only complaints stem from pressing this gun into open division. 1. No optic cut. Had to send it off for work and am now forever locked into one footprint. 2. I cannot find any 170mm magazine extensions. I am loving the +5's that Shield Arms make, but if I could get up to the division limit, I'd be much happier. 3. Not huge holster support. But luckily, Red Hill tactical do them. And they make a nice hooded holster. Before I finally shut up, check out this video of Brandon Strayer of SVI answering "what's the next evolution of 2011's?" on 1911 Syndicate's channel. kzbin.info/www/bejne/kGXXeKemr7mXbKs "This is no longer a .45 game, so why is this magazine this wide any more ? Why is this grip this wide?" (sic) The 9mm 2011 is like a stripper girlfriend. Nobody else that hot will ever have anything to do with you, and she will blow your mind every other weekend. But it's a borderline abusive relationship that costs more than you thought it would. Your friends all like her but they haven't seen her in one of her moods. The DWX and newer guns like it (Oracle Arms 2311, Stealth Arms Platypus, and even the Staccato CS if they ever make a competition gun that uses the new mag) are like a PhD with double-D's. Not as flashy, but so much easier to live with.

Hows the recoil impulse feel in comparison to a 2011? Once properly sprung of course
@andys6905 Жыл бұрын
@@ZChaosFactor Extremely similar. It feels a bit over-sprung (for reliability?) from the factory, but even still it shoots soft.
@ZChaosFactor Жыл бұрын
@andys6905 good to know. I've heard the oversprung comment on multiple videos. I bet it would be great with a sprinco 2 stage spring or a DPM 3 stage spring.

Wow, this is the best comment the channel has received in months! You educated me, made me think and finished it off with a good laugh. 😆 Thanks for your insights, I appreciate it!!

Great video, thanks for the review! I always wanted a CZ SP01 or Shadow 2 but never bought one for some reason. Instead I ended up buying a P10F OR when they first released & really enjoy shooting it. When the DWX was announced to say I was super excited is an understatement. A CZ grip with a 1911 single action trigger that takes the P10 magazines I'm already invested in, Yes Please!

forged frame, quite rare to see that on a sub $2000 gun. It's like a CZ A-01 + Dan Wesson 1911 = perfection

We need to harass CZ/Dan Wesson to produce the carry optic version WITH the rail that they advertised and sent out to testers early.
@prepandpress Жыл бұрын
I'm sure they will but they want to milk the straight irons pistol for more sales first. Kinda like how Chevy releases the Corvette Stingray for a couple years knowing they'll eventually make a Z06 version.

its superior to 2011s by being as reliable as a cz75 and not needing 100$ mags, replaceable grip panels.

agreed. The mag cost and no need to tune mags. Reliable out of the box and reasonable price for what it competes with. Customizable with replaceable grips. Give an option for optics cut and it's about perfect
