This feels weirdly judgemental and invasive. Every service position has it's price, you pay it to survive in the industry. Most people don't take service jobs because they love being overly polite to rude customers every day, it's usually out of necessity. The culture of how we treat service workers and the higher ups themselves are the problems. Telling a service worker who's just trying to get by "your job has a price, consider if it's worth the rent money" feels very gross. The industry has a lot of issues but the hourly workers are not part of them.
