She would have loved all the locations you show. We used to have what were called "Travelogs," where people would take home-style movies on 8mm film and show them at the local Kiwanis Club. @@ЯнНорвуд Ukrainians were EXILED there. Since the times of Catherine the second. The same way like Taras Shevchenko was exiled to Kazakhstan. Many of them settled there for the whole life and became locals. Noone would move from Ukraine into Kyrgyzstan by their own will. Of course there were also Ukrainians who were sent to different far regions of USSR after graduation from Universities. They were appointed by government to different high-skilled jobs to teach local people. It was a common practice to mix population from different regions. A lot of Ukrainians were also sent to Russian far East. Many families in irkutsk and vladivistok have Ukrainian heritage

My wife is Kyrgyz so spent a lot of time there! Nice to see the country in your channel! The nature there is just breathtaking! Well worth exploring. The mountain drives are epic! Man don’t just stick to shorpo! Try Manti (dumplings) Plov (fried rice) besh barmak (soup and noodle) and they also do shashliik! Enjoy the trip, look forward to more videos of the journey. Enjoy

Thanks Bald. Your adventures are a critical part of my survival of covid Cabin fever/depression. I think it is a great contribution to bring more people aware of how thousands of good people live out happy lives on the most simplest of supplies and services. In a way I envy them.

Thank you so much for going to Kyrgyzstan and in general Central Asia! I'm currently doing a bulk of my graduate work on the former Soviet Union states including Central Asia. So seeing basically a virtual tour of these often forgotten and ignored places is amazing. I especially loved the Moldova video, as depressing it was. There's so little content on Central Asia, especially Kyrgyzstan (that's in English). I'm so excited to see the videos to come!

When I was deployed to Afghanistan, the girls in the beauty shop were from Kyrgyzstan. Random comment, I know, but they were very nice, and the bit of peace and quiet while getting a hair wash/cut, was something I'll never forget- the quiet, wooden building, the warm winter sun making the room warm, the sound of the hairdressers voices as they chatted, the warm water...

Fun fact...I lived here in Bishkek for 3 months during my US military days in 2010. I have those very mountains in many videos. I even white water rafted there, ate really good food in the more busy towns and partied my ass off every night. Really good memories.

I'm so glad Bald and Bankrupt does these videos. I find it so interesting to see how people in these countries live so much so that I haven't even watched the Mexico videos. These places are so different, so isolated, so poor in many cases, so simple. There's not a life for miles, there's nothing interesting (or so it seems) where they live, yet, it's interesting to me to learn about their soviet past and how things are today.
