The logs were drug by oxen or horse teams or skidded to the mills. It also is the slang term for the red light or adult beverage establishment areas of a town or city. Originally used in logging towns on the west coast of the United States.

Mr Bald made a terrible mistake in his research about origin of word Slavic. Check the basic sources on web yourself to discover this and more: the etymoloy: The Slavic autonym *Slověninъ is usually considered a derivation from slovo "word", originally denoting "people who speak (the same language)", i. e. people who understand each other. The word slovo ("word") and the related slava ("glory, fame, praise") and slukh ("hearing") originate from the Proto-Indo-European root *ḱlew- ("be spoken of, glory"), cognate with Ancient Greek κλέος (kléos "fame"). Anyway, best regards to Comrade Bald :D

Why not grams and liters?! I do not want thumbs and feet and spoons. Scientific units were introduced to schools for very good reasons. More than a century ago! Wake up, ye slow oaldfashioned weirdo's!

Having suffered 8 days of food poisoning after Thailand, I must say Bald is looking far happier than I was. Let's just say it's an emergency situation when it's coming out both ends at once.

Hey @Daily Bald - we love the content. I do miss a few things that seem to have slid out of your videos. 1) show us more bartering at markets (buy those socks next time!) 2) I would like to see more local food encounters (sorry i know you were sick this episode). 3) It doesn't always have to be impressive ancient cities, show us the "modern" locals; idk invite a family to a traditional lunch or something. Keep these coming, they are among my most favorite of youtube videos.

I had this experience in Egypt once where I just had to freeze in the middle of a Cairo street market because if I took a step, I would fully shit my pants.

I just ate a big plate of room temperature chicken. In a few hours, when the dysentery kicks in, I'm going to watch this video again so, I can pretend I'm right there with ya! :-)

I was once in Hiva when I was a child. I remember it as a magical and like nothing else I've seen before (or after). I lived in GAZOCHAK. A small town that was there to help build gas pipe to Russia.

I was there as a child too. Have a picture of myself on a camel from that times. I wonder why Bald still haven't met any😂
