Do we smell? Yes. Do we smell fantastic? Absolutely. We should stop underestimating our nose because it is one of the most powerful instruments available to humans. It connects us to people and our surroundings, triggers memories, and pushes us to discover new passions. Artist, scholar, fragrance and wine expert, Susan is currently researching the role of smell in human connections to make encounters with others more conscious (and less guided by prejudice). This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Love this! Such a powerful reminder of the texture scent brings to our lives. I only wish I'd had a glass of wine or an essential oil to hand whilst listening. Off to go to an open meadow where I shall inhale deeply, joyfully breathing in the scent of spring.

The affirmation part is so interesting - ppl tell me all the time they fear the way they smelled esp during the pandemic when we could smell ourselves and no one else.

Only thing better than outstanding oration is an amazing TED coach - that and an accidental rain effect from a thousand envelopes being opened at the same time! ❤
