This was slightly clickbait. Although I am biased for AMD for several reasons, not just because I'm against "buying the logo" for Nvidia, but also because Nvidia doesnt care about us. They sell what makes them the most money. Ive noticed this especially since the 30 series cards, and its ridiculous. Like wtf happened to the highend GPU's being $600 if even that. Yall decided to pay for the cards at a huge price increase and it gave Nvidia the incentive to raise it more to see who would buy it. I'm 80% sure that the 50 series will have only the 5050, and 5060 below $800. Like I dont care which team you go for, but if yall keep up your greed to have "the best" regardless of price, our GPU prices are never getting lower.

During the Crypto mining boom AMD purposely stopped making the 6800 non XT and only made the 6800XT. They did that because the 6800XT made them more margin and they both are made with the same chip , they just disable it a bit . Then there the 7800XT thats named wrong , it's a lower tier processor compared to the previous generation 6800XT yet they used a higher tier name on a processor that's the successor to the 6700XT. So yeah how is it that they care anymore about consumers than NVIDA . News flash they don't
@mental_kintsugi Жыл бұрын
@@bigdaddyt150They surely don't, but because they're not the Apple equivalent of the GPU market like Nvidia, you definitely get better value from team red. I expect them to undergo a development similar to that of Samsung in the smartphone market: For many years, Samsung was the way to go for everyone who didn't want to pay for an iPhone. Once they basically became the only viable alternative to Apple, they started using more "quality materials" in their phones (going from plastic to aluminum and glass) and slowly raising prices. Nowadays you can basically pay as much for a Samsung flagship phone as for an iPhone. I think that's AMD's long-term vision for their GPUs. But like Samsung, it'll take them quite some years to get there (although AMD is making decent progress on the tech side), so it's smart to enjoy those years before they become as overpriced as Nvidia.

Ray Tracing (RT) (and especially Path Tracing (PT)) isn't going to be PROPERLY ready and non-beta tech for another few years. Most of us prefer performance and native resolution over realistic lighting and reflections at a cost of an upscaler. We're playing games, not aimlessly wandering around test demos with no gameplay features, we're not staring at shadows and reflections, we're shooting baddies and being badass lol Amazing that people will VOLUNTARILY tank their performance with RT/PT, use an upscaler like DLSS (not saying DLSS is bad, but devs need to stop using it as a crutch for shitty optimisation and beta technologies like RT/PT), then try shit on AMD buyers that they don't have DLSS or good RT/PT... we don't need DLSS because we don't care to use RT/PT. Also who are you talking to that can't differ anything above 60 frames?? 60-95 year olds??? Maybe I'm weird but I can differ 30-45-60-75-90-144Hz... I've had AMD for like over 6 years now. Starting with the RX 480 to right now with the 7900XTX. The main things I see is that the cards are all around good while not using raytracing and to me it's more a gimmick than an actual useful add-on. DLSS and FSR have been a great benefit to both sides but in my opinion AMD is clearly the more open and affordable option for years and years to come. AMD still prices their cards below Nvidia and they still outperform their competition they aim for. The fact that this card is 200-300$ less than the 4080 means a lot to the person who wants a high performance card. The updates and bug reports are also miles better than nvidia. A while back when I had a 2070 on my second rig it just refused to do VR for like a month and then Nvidia suddenly reported that they fixed the issue rather than sending out an update asap to fix the issue. Even the forums were asking what the hell to do and Nvidia reps just said "we are looking into it". AMD on the other hand will wait max 3 days before they ask people to revert to old drivers or just push out a stable driver as recommended so they can fix things as they go. Like black screening with the 2070 when using two different monitors with different resolutions taking 3 months to fix and I had to set a monitor to 1080p until they fixed it. And then AMD when they had black screen issues when you tabbed between two monitors real quick which was solved in 2 days but the day after they updated and called the issue they immediately went on twitter and the forums and let everyone know that they found out about the issue and recommended a rollback if they wanted to not face the issue.

Upgraded from RX 5700 XT to RX 7900 XTX. Bit of a chunky upgrade. I knew exactly what I was getting. DX12U features, monster raster performance, great RT performance at this GPU class, great display support. I'm also aware of the slower than 4080 Super RT, but then again, the price equivalent of 7900 XTX in my region is 4070 Ti, not even Ti Super. TDP is fine for a high end GPU and can be monstrous when OC'd. Like 3rd highest TDP, ahead of 4090 and behind 3090 / 3090 Ti in TDP used. 465W constant when OC'd and higher with transient spikes? Oof. The card is always using slightly more power at same settings/resolution than the 5700 XTX, I assume thats mostly due to more/faster VRAM. But card is cool, fast, silent. Linux experience is also great. I'll keep it for another 4+ years, easily.

I switched from a EVGA 3080ti ftw Ultra gaming to a ASrock 7900 xtx Tiachi white! I mainly sim race with my system and it's paired with a Asus Z790-a Gaming wifi, ddr5 6400, 32gb and an Intel 13900k. The game I play the most is Asseto Corsa Competizione on my Samsung G9 49uw 240hz 1ms. Overall I see no difference in performance. If anything the 3080ti actually performed better than the ASrock 7900 xtx. Sure I get more FPS with the 7900xtx but I was getting 160-190 fps with a slight overclock on the EVGA 3080ti. When it comes to Graphics the 3080ti looks better during game play and during the replay mode the 7900 xtx looks amazing. However during game play I'm struggling to find good settings to optimize the card for ACC and my monitor.. When I switched I ran ddu and did a fresh driver install but I'm thinking it might be better if I did a full windows fresh install with the AMD drivers to get maximum graphics performance. Being ACC is an older game I wonder if it's simply better optimized for the Nvidia drivers vs the AMD drivers... I've also downloaded the little AStweak beta for overclocking but I haven't messed with it much. I've definitely noticed the MSI afterburner issue which is a number cause I use MSI to track my CPU and GPU statistics in real time.. The MSI doesn't work well with the adrenaline software but does better with the AStweak beta software.. I'm still leaning tho so my results may change. I haven't spent a ton of time messing with settings as I don't get a ton of time to play so when I can play I mainly practice car set ups. Maybe I'll hop on and mess with some stuff and see if I can get it to look smoother during the game play. The FSR definitely makes the game look worse! OC speed is 3000 but it never gets there. It's about 400 faster then the EVGA that I was getting up to 2100 with a slight OC and the 450w bios

Especially the EVGA 3080ti ftw ultra gaming which is what I had. I sold mine for $400 and it was in pretty good shape. That was a year ago. I did a white build so price started to play a major role. At the time I made my purchase the Asus and other white 4090 and even the 3090 we're still selling for crazy prices. The 4090 was like $2200 and Walmart at the 3090 Asus white for 1200. If you go with the 16gb of Vram and Nvidia you'll be happy for years to come. Alot comes down to what your budget is, space as the these new cards are huge. The 3080 took 2 slots the 7900 xtx takes 3. Also the type of Power supply and the connection. The 7900 xtx and the 3080ti were the same 400w-450w with the same 3 PCIE cable connection. This allowed me to upgrade without having to make any other changes. I could use all the same wires I had with the 3080ti. You gotta take all that into account. If you have to dish out another $200 for a PSU it might just be better to go with the 3080 as it's still a great card. It's never a easy decision if you're trying to stay within a certain budget. Just be sure to research everything before buying. Make sure you have the space. The motherboard doesn't have anything that's going to get into the way, the PSU will work, ect ect

Unless you needed the money, yes it was a mistake, especially if you make your living off of using computer hardware. Furthermore, while you might not need it, anyone that does 3D work might run into bigger issues with a 7900xtx. For example, even a 3060 will beat out a 7900xtx in Blender renders via Optix. AMD just does not have good or comparable solutions to Nvidia's entire technology stack. Keep in mind there is a reason AMD will be skipping their top tier flagship GPUs for the next generation. That said, the 7900xtx absolutely provides some great value (and looks) depending on use case, and even electricity bill.

As a former 5700 owner and current 3080 user I will be the first to say that the Nvidia Control Panel is not just behind AMD, it is in a different class altogether. It's like the story in Baldur's Gate 3 compared to the story and writing of Starfield. Yes, they are both video games, but one is great, the other was...written down and voice acted too? Seriously, the Adrenaline Software Suite is fantastic. Nvidia's Control Panel + Riva Tuner + MSI Afterburner feel like a handful of Beta Software tools in comparison. Not only does it take 3 pieces of software, two of which are from 3rd parties to accommodate user tweaks and monitoring, but those 3 programs combined offer less in regards to functionality than AMD's one stop solution. That sucks. I remember way back in...2011...I had a 550Ti. And Nvidia had...essentially the same control panel. That was 12 years ago. it is time to put some of their software engineers on the project to bring the *_"Nvidia Control Panel"_* up to where AMD was back in 2017. There's no excuse. The amount of money it would cost to streamline and update the software would be less than a rounding error for them at this point. Maybe $100K worth of work with another $1M in bug testing? For a company making over $1B *in profit* per quarter? Yeah, I'm going with they can 100% afford it. Lol, watch, they will update it but it will only be supported on Blackwell GPU's.

Having owned the 7900 XTX for this long, my perception has turned for the worse. I've had game crashes, undervolt resets, and the most recent, getting banned in Apex Legends. Fortunately, I just got unbanned a couple of days ago. This all being said, the raw rasterization performance has been more than adequate. I can run most games at max settings 4K 120 fps (LG C2 OLED), without having to turn on FSR. I plan on keeping the card long term but I think I will go back to nVidia next time.

Pretty close to mine too, 6900 XT owner here and I'm glad that I didn't get banned on CS2 (close one), classic Resident Evil 1 PC port is a no go for AMD owners and I've also experienced frequent crashes (I was a Nvidia user for 10+ years until October of the last year). I pretend to upgrade for a 4080 and sell my 6900 XT as soon as I can.

Playing alan wake 2, kinda regret choosing rx 7900 xtx over the 4090. Ray tracing in this game kills the gpu even fsr2 ultra performance can't hit 60fps at ray tracing high

I have now bought my first AMD graphics card after a long time, an RX 7800 XT to be precise, and I am very satisfied... good performance, the software is great... I don't miss my defective RTX 4070 that much... except in Cyberpunk 2077 where the performance with ray tracing was so much better. DLSS is also better in absolutely every situation, TAA is terrible in most games.

I've had a 7900xtx for 6 months and have had absolutely zero issues with it. Will probably get a 5090 when it launches though because of the superior ray tracing performance.

@@Dulkh4n Well given what they showed off for Starcitizen over the past few days, and what Cyberpunk 2077 showed off, we are already there. The widespread adoption will take time though, and it can only continue to get better.

Everybody saying the 7900 is just as good or great is on some drugs ... the 4090 is in a class of its own ..my 4080 is better than a 7900 stop being cheap and acting like it's even close 1# 4090 2# 4080 3# everything else Thats until the 50 series drop

Hey, I'm curious what kind of max power draw you're getting with your OC 7900XTX and what your temp and hotspot temps are? I'm currently running XFX 7900XTX oc bios and I max out at 463w at full load, with 67c and 83c hotspot.

damn that's cool. my gigabyte windforce rtx 4070 oc gets 76c and up to 96c hotspot gaming 100% at 202w

I have a gigabyte windforce 4070 ti card,this cards is small you can setup the fans speeds in nvidia driver or in msi afterburner,im prefer msi,with my setup not going more then 63 in max load . Before the card touch the 62c the fans speed up to 90% and cooling down to 60 or 58 and runing on 65-70% fan speeds,you can test how much temps you want and set up the fans speed.@@superstaples

I know my 7900XTX isn’t as good as a 4090, but it fit my budget, and it gives me enjoyment nonetheless. I recently returned to pc gaming after playing on a PS4 for the last 10 years, so my 7900XTX setup running in 1440p is mind blowing to say the least haha
@Clint_the_Audio-Photo_Guy Жыл бұрын
Plus, if your game is COD, the 7900 smokes those frames out. That said, I've got a 4070 Ti, and with NVIDIA's game drivers giving my full ray tracing ultra settings, and DLSS3, I'm still around 120 fps in Cyberpunk at 1440P. Not sure how it's possible, but it looks great and plays smooth. NVIDIAs drivers turn on ray tracing in every game that has them and it looks great. Witcher 3 remastered, also great (Over 115 fps) with full ray tracing turned on.
@Clint_the_Audio-Photo_Guy Жыл бұрын
Edit: I got one too many crashes with the 4070 Ti in Witcher 3, where I lost my game progress, so I returned it within' my window. Back to my AMD 6750 XT for now. Still a great card for 1440p gaming, IMO. Maybe I'll wait for an AMD refresh, and pick up a 7950 XT then. The 6750 XT still gets in the low 90's fps in the remastered Witcher 3 on Ultra settings minus RT.

Have a 7900XTX since earlier this year, am redoing that rig (ram doesn't seem to get along think that's the issue). Am spare gaming on 7800XT rig also a good gpu. Am going to see once I recase 7900XTX have Merc 310 and 12900KF in a 7000D Airflow case if it's quieter. Great card though. Open air case it was a bit noisy, so am changing the case next too.

I've only ever had intel cpus and the last amd gpu i had was 2 6970s in crossfire back in 2011.. which wasn't exactly a great experience. But i built a new computer 3 months ago because my 8700k and 1070 was showing its age. Went with a 7800x3d and 7900xtx and I've gotta say it's been nearly perfect. I play at 1440p and have no intention of going 4k anytime soon so a 4090 just wasn't something I needed or wanted.

Right Decision. I prefer the 7900 XTX. The 4090 is a Monster. No Doubt about that. But First. To actually even get any Notable Advantage from it which You can even See. You first need a 4k Setup with Gaming Monitor. Because otherwise Your Monitor wont even Show You the Difference lol. And even then the Difference is just not worth the Extra Cost.
