......oof..Your shop is fkn HUGE my dude!!! I lucked out big time building my tiny ass 28x36x10! My slab is 10" thick out to 18" thick to get it above the heavily sloped drainage grade, one 10x10 door, one 8x8 door, 1 man door. 2.5" closed cell spray foam on the walls and ceiling. Amazon daisy-chained 12 LED lights set. Completely wired, Ten 110v, two 240v outlets. All in, $13,500 ish.

Just finished building. Rockwool insulation between the posts. Rented a man lift, had it done in a weekend. Put breathable membrane over the top. Got a deal on FRP fire rated material and used it as inside paneling. 40 by 80 with a 16 foot cathedral roof.

Shop looks awesome! Hit up Adam Schindler at O&E for flooring! He’s in Baltimore & does great work! Also a car guy with a fast trackhawk. So I’m sure he’d take care of you.

Nothing is more frustrating than to have to ask the local overlords for permission to spend money on improvements to YOUR OWN property. We spent $101k a year ago building a 30x40 2-story garage and had to get two variances @ $500 and several months delay before breaking ground. SUPER frustrating. As far as add-ons... The electrical and lighting came first in my shop The very next thing I did was added an HVAC system. It's now cozy warm in winter and a cozy 68 degrees in mid-Summer.

Great shop. But if you had been in Arkansas and built it, you would have been done a LOT faster!! I had a shop built and there was ZERO permit required!! Did the electrical myself, even put in the garage door opener myself.

Stoked for you man. Never big enough. Having heat and a/c just removes one more excuse to not work on something. I did traditional heat and a/c cause gas line was already ran to my shop but a lot of people are doing mini-splits and could make sense with solar. I am in the final steps of converting a word burning stove to waste oil burner for free heat. Nice to not deal with oil and burn it...maybe wanna have all inspections out of the way before you go that route though :)

I love your place. Crazy how different the permit process is depending on your area. When I built my place the permit process was literally like "here are the rules," we came back with blueprints and they glanced over and said "approved." Inspector was out three times. Another county near here and the process is closer to your situation but still not as bad.

Doing a 40 by 80 barndominium with a 1460sq.ft. condo in one end in Southern Ohio. Only permit needed is for the septic system. That's done with site prep in process. No wood below grade and pex in the concrete for heat. Hope to have it as far along as yours by October. Condo next year.

Had a bit smaller 30×40 same roof height. Used foam board insulation for the walls with blown in for the ceiling and it kept it comfortable. 0 outside 25ish inside without the heater running for a week and with the heater on no bare spots with snow on the roof so no heat loss. Moved so new building going up and only changes is going waste oil heater

Meth Lab 😂😜🤣! You're going to have to get insulation in that building for sure! Because heating that sucker up is going to be a Big Electricity bills and gas too! Looks really nice 👍🏻 though! Most definitely haggling with the City and County for permits and codes and all that blah is a Big Pain in the Rear end especially when you get a SmartAss inspector they'll set you back a grip or just tell you no permits for you! 🤬🤬🤬
