I sold my Storm Trooper Komodo and replaced it with an FX3 and am SO happy I did.

Yeah I’m totally with you, when I was working on narrative, doc and commercials where we had time to make sure everything was right the Komodo rocked because of the image quality coming close to other reds for much cheaper. But once I started working on projects that needed to move MUCH quicker, I knew it was the beginning of the end of my ownership…. For now. Once my contracts are up if I get back into what I was doing than Komodo may be a viable option again (depending on the market at the time)

@@ReachFilms exactly, I purchased Komodo expecting to get back to my shoots which were heavily in the country music scene, but those gigs never restarted after covid. I found myself shooting more and more outdoors content where we kept grabbing the Sony FS5ii and A7SIII. So I just switched over to FX3 for good.

I am about to retire my Zcam E2S6 and Was interested in the Komodo but am now mixed. Thank you for this video!

The Komodo is basically a slightly better image quality and easier to edit version of that camera. If you shoot the kind of content that need this kind of camera it’s fantastic for the money. My issue now is that the work I was doing when I originally bought Komodo was so different for what I am doing now. So I was in a situation at the end of 2022 and most of this year (except one big shoot) where the camera was just sitting around because I now have other cameras to fit the need of my current work. It just made no sense to keep the camera currently, it did pay for itself by far, however the having an idle asset just didn’t sit well with me.

PLEASE do a video soon on the sirui anamorphics! I sell cinema gear and I'm so curious about their lenses. They are so small!

Absolutely! I’ve been waiting till I get some more footage using them with my canon and Sony to do a more well rounded review using on multiple systems but should have one up sometime within the next month or so

I've been CAUGHT!!!! lol I wish, been talking to Josh about it a lot, ill be back soon. Especially because I now have to rent Komodo for a few gigs later this year, however luckily those costs get absorbed by the client instead of me making a rental fee.

There are not many storm trooper, Komodo’s . I regretted selling old cameras, including Tape cameras, just because they were unique

If it was worth less I probably would have kept it but I rather use the money for the systems I’m using mostly right now

@@ReachFilms the game changer was the Lowlight. Many shots that i do are inside cenote's here in mexico or in the evening. The image you get from that is next level.

You should get the XH2s If you're shooting anamorphic. 3:2 aspect ratio
@ReachFilms Жыл бұрын
It does look like a cool camera, the issue I have with Fuji is they don’t have other cinema cameras or higher end cameras. So even with my Sony and canon cameras when I’m brought onto other projects I can easily get a better rate by having a camera with a matching log profile. So the Fuji would be more of a personal camera. That being said I literally just set up my FX30 for some anamorphic shooting today. So it will be the real test of using its small built in LCD is doable for anamorphic after this last update
@ArturoLauren Жыл бұрын
@@ReachFilms you’re right that’s a good point, Fuji should have at least an entry level cinema camera. You should test the Xh2s at some point through, the image is much better than the Fx30 and R7

@@ArturoLaurenHow do you know the image is better?
@ArturoLauren Жыл бұрын
@@davidmurray5926 The xh2s at 6.2K or 4k up to 30fps is much better than the r7 and the fx30 on video image quality. I have been using one for a year now and seen comparisons online with other cameras and I'm 100% sure. I would even say it's as good or sometimes better than a Komodo but without raw and true global shooter. The secret either for the xh2s or the Komodo is using Omeneo's primers, i'm not affiliated with it but It makes a real difference

all of these reasons why you selling the komodo were there before you bought it, You just wanted it anyway...it took 3 years to reverse that decision.

That comment is very hasty, the kind of work I am doing now is completely different to the work I was doing three years ago…. I also explain that in the video along with if you follow that channel. So that being said you are completely wrong, not even sure why you are here
