I really like the fact both you and MatPat are going down the Mike's dad might be Henry route because I'll be honest, that thought never crossed my mind during the film, because I think not having the family being in an obvious Pizzeria setting when Garret was kidnapped, threw me. Plus when I first saw the trailer with the children manifesting in the woods, I made the connection between the pile of dirt in the forest in Midnight Motorist being their gravesite.

Hence why I didn't equate Garett with Charlie so by extension this family swoparound, but with the Crying Child because of Mike. OH but we also see The Puppet crawling up to Charlie's body...So have we missed that the Puppet was already possessed!!!

This has been a passing theory in the community for a while. Ever since Scott started leaning hard into the "stepdad" lore in the books, many people started to speculate if Mike wasn't William's real son. This is also touched on in Sister Location's cutscenes when Vlad the Vampire states, "The baby isn't mine." Some people took this to mean that Circus Baby/Elizabeth wasn't Williams Afton's creation. She was, after all, originally Henry's creation. However, some others, myself included, attributed these associations to Mike and William's relationship.

FNAF is such a fascinating series. The way Scott has been able to restart the story multiple times, tweaking it as he learns, in theory this new movie storyline should be his most thought out, consistent story. I'm so excited to see where this goes and what he does to keep it fresh while acknowledging what got us to this point

I have a theory that scott might or might not try to combine all three into one big story or have it a multiverse or something. Some clues are the ruin dlc and security breach almost following the books. The movie and the second movie losely based on the games which in turn could have all three eventually trying to become one big story

The original head may have been Garrett, but then at some point William became unable to control Fredbear, either due to Cassidy taking over after being killed and stuffed, or Garrett's spirit somehow migrating into the puppet. It's also possible that the puppet used to be the fifth animatronic, before maybe getting damaged or shut away, and then Afton just tacked over a new face for his most recent kill, as a replacement.

I was so certain on Garrett being the movie-verse's Puppet until you pointed out the head detail on the drawing! On the other hand, does Golden Freddy really care? If everything had gone according to plan (for them), Mike would have been out of the picture for (supposedly) killing Aunt Jane, Abby would have gotten springlocked, and they could live happily ever after. In addition, G.F could probably see that Abby didn't really like Aunt Jane, and he could have taken matters into his own hands; in addition, the "Aunt Jane fell asleep" line kinda implies she died.

while I agree that the Ella doll is probably just an easter egg and not meant to tie into the plot at large, I also think this easter egg can be used for lore. Ella from TSE, for all intents and purposes, is essentially an “earlier” baby. A precursor to Baby. By showing a version of a “precursor” to Baby that is a third unexplained springlock suit, Scott could be hinting that the third unexplained springlock suit from the games no one has been able to figure out may have been a “precursor” to or “earlier version” of Baby. Would explain why it came from Circus Baby’s.

Hey John. Great theory! I did notice something weird while watching the movie and it’s that every time someone enters the building, the power turns on by itself. For a really clear example, look at the scene right when the robbers enter the building. The literal security monitors turn on by itself. They make it very clear throughout the movie for some reason and I can’t figure out why. It could just be showing that the animatronics have control of the building, but they’re very consistent with it. Just a thing I thought I’d throw out. Great video again!

Golden freddy in the games is a spirit, and does not actually physically show up in your office. The spirit of golden freddy in the games can make you see things that arent there, but also can interact with things from the real world, classic ghost style. In the movie, many objects seemingly move on their own, doors lock, boxes fall over, when nothing could have been there to do so. Its likely that golden freddy is the one doing so, as everyone else is accounted for. Also electriconics turning on in the presence of a ghost is also just classic ghost stuff. In the scene where golden freddy takes abby to the restaurant, the animatronic disappears in the blink of an eye, and as abby walks through the entrance, the lights flicker on, symbolizing that the spirit did actually follow her inside and is still behind her, and its presence turns on the lights.

I'm really surprised that everyone is so intent on why William would take a kid outside of a Freddy's. I just assumed it was the first time for him. The first crime was one of opportunity, and then he escalated to premeditated. To me, it didn't need to specifically be about Garrett. It's still a pretty big coincidence that both the Schmitt family and William were in Nebraska some ten years ago and meet again by chance at Freddy's, but that's the kind of coincidence that makes a story work.

I think the need for Garrett's death having deeper meaning comes also from the need to explain why one of Afton's crimnes happened many miles away from the pizzeria. While I don't recall hearing about it in depth in any true crime doc, it's seems possible for a serial killer to not have clear M O from the start. Like with everything, it takes time, trials and errors to master "the craft". Like Afton in the games: Charlie's murder, the very first one, was that of opportunity driven by jealousy and/or grief. Yellow bunny costume and animatronic stuffing came later.

The name Schmitt isnt so uncommon that you would be able to make a connection between 2 people just by randomly seeing the name 10 years later, however the case might be different if you used to have a business partner with the same last name that you knew had a kid called Mike Schmitt, who also happened to have black eyes and black hair.

I'm surprised you didn't mention the fact that William/Steve recognized Mike's last name and then knew exactly who he was and who his brother was after that. That would fit in with Mike's dad being Henry, and William knowingly targeting the family.

Mike doesnt seem to know aunt jane so well, so maybe its like a 'see eachother once every few years' thing? if they go years without seeing eachother (which very much seems to be the case with the lack of empathy to her nephew) aunt jane could have easily found a man, had a child with him and then left him. This would also show why she wants abby so bad, as she lost HER child to william in court

I think Mike's dad filling the role of Henry and not telling his kids about his job makes perfect sense. He likely worked on the animatronics in the very early stages of the business being created and potentially quit before the restaurant even opened. Because of this he might have not thought to talk to his kids about it since it might have been a while off from opening. Another perfectly reasonable explanation is that the trauma of losing his child and the potential that he knew William did it would be a perfectly justifiable reason to completely disappear and never speak of his work.

I find fnaf fascinating because if you look into the history of Showbiz Pizza and Chuck E Cheese, you see a fascinating friendship-turned-rivalry with the guy who programmed the animatronics/program that ran it, and the guy who wanted the pizzaria to thrive. If we see his dad in the movie being Henry, he might now have said he was working for a pizzeria if the engineering and software was his job. If you're busy making high tech (for the time) animatronics and your business partner wants to make spring loaded death suits, you might distance yourself from the toxic environment too and just put "computer and software engineer" on your resume and keep your kids from going to the pizzaria. and now for a hot take i think garret is balloon boy

I still believe the „Mike‘s father is Henry theory“ is true, because it really wouldn’t make any sense for William to recognize Mike‘s last name and immediately link it to Garrett. You can’t make the argument that he asked Garrett what his name was, „Schmidt“ really isn’t an uncommon surname. William must have had some kind of connection to the Schmidts, the kidnapping would be too random for that not to be the case. I hope the next movie delves deeper into the backstories of both Vanessa and Mike. As for the message, maybe William has another child who is loyal to him and would actually come save him, but that is a far stretch and probably not the case but whatever. Theorizing about the movie is fun and I can’t wait for the sequel. Your video is amazing!

3:05 it's possible that willaim had a motive in the games. That being henery built the animatronic responsible for William's son being killed or him simply believing it was unfair that Henery wasn't suffering like him. But what is his motive in the movies. Not only does he need to have a reason to be in Nebraska but a reason to target someone from that family. That's why i believe that the movie is sharing the same story beat where Vanessa(being a child of William) accidentally killed her brother in the same way Micheal did in the games. She is already basically playing the rolse of Micheal from the games. And its not too unreasonable to say that she just hasn't admitted to it yet, that wasn't a plot point till fnaf 4 yet it always seams like Micheal in the games was on a quest to save his brother.

There's one character I know has a huge connection to dreams and is a lot scarier than Cassidy. Her name is Miyu from Vampire Princess Miyu and she's able to get people to be stuck in a perpetual dream where all their fantasies come true. One of her victims was a guy is pretty much stuck petting a nonexistent cat for the rest of eternity.

I just thought Garret is somehow related to Balloon Boy since he's the first FNAF character we're indirectly introduced to in the movie. Maybe Scott can combine the Puppet and BB's characters into one new character, an animatronic that is both obnoxious and you have to look out for because they could lead to the killer animatronics to you.

Whenever a theorist I watch actually aknowledges Henry's (self)personal murder animatronic / Henry ending his own life, it sparks the one theory I haven't seen anyone talk about but one I kinda assumed for a long time- Why did Henry make an animatronic to do it, and where is that animatronic now? If strong emotion / agony can fuse a human spirit to a machine, why hasn't anyone even contemplated where book-verse Henry is now? I always kind of felt like somehow he found out about Afton and what he'd done, to what ends I'm unsure. I even thought maybe game Henry did too, and perhaps had done it to always be on William's heels, the one who always comes back needs someone to oppose him, and if he was in an animatronic of his own, maybe he could do the same. Guess that opens a big ole can of worms, because if that was the case, I imagine it'd complicate things a lot.

Thing is, that when there were only 4 games and that was supposed to be the end of the franchise, lots of us thought the Crying Child was the Puppet. And so far Garrett seems to fill both the Crying Child and Charlie/Sammy roles. (I pray to Breadbear the twist isn't that 'Garrett' never existed and that the memory is completely fabricated so help me there will be fazing Consequences.) This lines up with the time period when Scott was first pitching a movie. And he has expressed in past posts he wanted the films to focus on 1-3 and parts of 4.

I think I know a way that can solve the plot hole of Mike not knowing about Fazbear Pizza and gives Afton the motivation to take Garrett in the first place... So Garrett is Afton's first victim, and most likely the Puppet, but why?... Revenge. William and Henry start Fazbear Diner together. They invest in Henry's state of the art robotics for the next location, the one they'll explore in the next movie. William will have a daughter, Elizabeth, Henry will have Mike, an infant. The 2nd location is a success. Henry, wanting to create the next great robotic creation, does so, Baby. He shows it to William, he's excited and wants Elizabeth to see it... so she does... and dies tragically from wanting to wear Baby like a costume. The guilt causes Henry to want to cut ties and never be part of Fazbear ever again and keeps it a secret from his kids, feeling guilty about having killed William's daughter. The death of Elizabeth drives Afton to seek revenge... after years of trying to bring her back and creates a robotic creation himself... Vanessa. He kidnaps Garrett as revenge for Elizabeth which starts his psychopathic tendencies, thus Purple Man is born.

Something my daughter noticed in the movie is that Mike's brother Garrett is wearing the crying child's grey and black stripped shirt in the family photo on Mike's nightstand at the beginning of the movie. So I am betting Garrett is meant to be the crying child.

Movie Henry probably kept his work secret because he knew how dangerous the animatronics were and are, It shows duality between him and Afton, whereas Afton let's Elizabeth get too close to Circus Baby and die, and also let's Micheal Throw BV into Fredbears mouth, just my 2 cents on Henry's motives about keeping his work secretive. @FuhNaff also nice vid ! 😁

Everytime I think about Michael being speculated to be related to William, I think of the vampire cartoon from sister location. And maybe that was Scott trying to tell us something. With the movie I suspect even more now that Michael and William are not father and son. I don't know, but it's been an idea I've been chewing on for quite some time.

What if Henry was a contractor and not a business partner? Like how Scott did not build anything personally for the movie, but hired specialists. Maybe Henry was just a fabricator known locally for making robotic decorations? I have a neighbor who does that and has a 9 foot replica of the Tin Man from Oz up all year. Our tire shop also has a rhinoceros made out or tires like the Trojan horse. Rural America can get weird.

I mean Micheal was 12 when his brother was kidnapped. Maybe he did know that his Dad is working at a restaurant but didn't know much more. I mean when I was 12 I only knew what my parents do not where they work or what exactly. Or maybe his Dad left Freddie's when Micheal was 6 or something. Maybe his Dad worked with William but got a weird vibe off him. He left Freddie's and that would give William a even stronger motive to kidnap Gerret. Just some ideas, but I think you really are onto something with your theory!

ABBY SCHMIDT AND ELIZABETH AFTON - Abby is nickname for Elizabeths, just like Bill for Williams - Both Abby and Elizabeth talk to herself (Abby talking to ghosts nobody else sees, Elizabeth talking to people who never answer back) - Both Abby and Elizabeth not listening to their family (A: I will be back, E: Daddy isn't watching) - Both Abby and Elizabeth got lured with good intentions by an animatronic to be easily killed and became one of them (A: building a fort and Chica taking her to Ella the springlock suit, E: Baby's icecream and scooping) - Both Abby and Elizabeth having younger brother killed before her and older brother (Garrett and Crying Child, Mike and Michael) - Both Abby and Elizabeth weirdly caring, conflicted about her older brother (A: creating and removing Mike drawings, avoiding and keeping contact with Mike, E: "You won't die", "You don't know who is your employer, do you?", etc.) - Ella the springlock suit -> Ella the doll -> Charlie Emily -> Baby -> Elizabeth Afton -> Elizabeth in Baby mentioning the Funtime-like springlock mechanism came from her old pizzeria which makes the possibilty that the springlock mechanism is William Afton's personal work which would make not only Elizabeth but also Crying Child killed by his own creations (which parallels the movie him killing Abby and Garrett personally) but also it would make William doing murderers in Spring Bonnie even more personal to him and so getting killed by his own creation - Ella sounds similar to Elizabeth, and Ela is Polish nickname for Elizabeths (Elżbieta) MIKE SCHMIDT AND MICHAEL AFTON - traumatized, feeling guilty to be the reason of why his younger brother died (G: kidnapped from forest and killed elsewhere, CC: smashed by Fredbear and dying in hospital) - trying to survive with "wonderful" payment of Fazbear Entertainment - having his whole life influenced by William, being his puppet - attempting to save his sister resulted with his body heavily damaged (Afton: saving Elizabeth from Circus Baby's Entertainment and Rental, Schmidt: saving Abby from the animatronics) Garrett Schmidt and Crying Child - besides all of this above, in the game he as well as Elizabeth were killed by an accident with William's creations (springlock mechanism of Fredbear, Circus Baby) while in the movie William attempted to kill them both personally (Garrett is obvious but with Abby it's William talking to the child ghosts he will bring a new friend to them, just like in Fourth Closet). - outside of that he will parallel his counterpart Crying Child with Golden Freddy by possesing Puppet, both are very aware, which in consequence will parallel Charlie Emily I think the reason why Scott Cawthon went with Vannesa Afton and Michael Schmidt is to told us that in the game her undercover name Vannesa A. is actually Vannesa Afton while her real name is Vannesa Shelly on the other hand in the game Michael Afton is actually Michael Schmidt, stepson of William's second wife, so William has a reason to ignore his first son Michael, to say he's not his baby because he's from his previous marriage he hates to be reminded of, his second wife even then loved her stepson Michael and wanted her husband to love him too and Michael Schmidt in act of jealousy seeing his father William Afton takes care of his younger children Elizabeth and CC more than him he bullied CC which ended with his unintended death and so Mike is even more disregarded by William. It unleashed the mad scientist of William that later will bite back Michael because his sister Elizabeth will die due to it. Michael feels so much pain, regret, depression that no wonder he thinks he should already die from scooping. Scott Cawthon went his way to never mention the surnames of Michael and Elizabeth in the games. You may think they are both just Afton but it's not as easily as you may think, haha, classic Scott. - besides all of this above, in the game

btw the clip we see of the man working on the animatronics in the fnaf ad that mike watches is in fact an ad, and ads generally involve actors that were picked to be in the ads, and the man working on the animatronics could easily have been an actor placed in to show someone making the animatronics, but whoever wanted the man to work on the animatronic in the background couldve had Henry in mind for whatever reason, just a thought.. also it’s clear at this point nothing in the fnaf movies will or have been 100% canon to anything in the books or games and is a seperate universe with elements from different pieces from other fnaf material. I’m sure we all know that by now, but I’m saying that that to express how anything we don’t know from the movies likely won’t be completely the same as any other fnaf material, like if henry becomes a part of the next films, he likely isn’t gonna be the exact same as the books or games, it would be a rough reference to the one from the games and books. I like to think that the fnaf franchise has its own multiverse and every form of media fnaf takes place in is a certain part of the fnaf multiverse, and they have similarities in different areas, some more than others, but are never canon to eachother for sure because that’s the common idea around the multiverse as a concept. But I think a multiverse could explain the inconsistencies in the lore i when it is canon, since when dealing with a multiverse, it’s said universes could intertwine with eachother if anything goes wrong, a multiverse also opens up the idea of time travel and a bunch of other things.. while this theory makes sense in my head, I hope the fnaf multiverse doesn’t ever become a canon plot in the story, the lore is complicated enough for god sake

8:04 Ok but hear me out, in the movie William Afton explicitly performs Phone Guy’s role which means Purple Guy IS Phone Guy in the movie Especially when you consider the Night 4 dialogue of “check inside the suits in the back room” and sounds of banging on doors fits pretty well with William’s Springlock death in FNAF3 and if you consider William leaving messages for Mike in Sister Location Now the question is whether or not this is Scott confirming game lore or the struggles of such a small cast and after eight years of gaslighting idk which is which anymore

This was something I toyed with it my mind as well, but it ultimately doesn't add up due to one small detail. The Day 4 phone call was recorded before Day 1 and William has his ironic death after disassembling the animatronics. Whereas the animatronics appear in perfect shape in FNAF1. It seems unlikely someone reassembled them, but not completely impossible. I'm not sure if you can see the backroom in FNAF1, so depending on if the door is blocked or not would tell us if Springtrap is there or not. Which if that is the case, then someone put them back together. And the souls are likely still trapped in the suits, which might be another point for the "Happiest Day" being a false ending. It is a very appealing story if the first game picks up right after Afton bites off more than he can chew. But it just seems unlikely.

@@verdantmistral442 personally I’m just crying in the fetal position cause I can’t take anymore gaslighting and retconning from Scott lol It feels interesting that Phone Guy’s Night 4 call death includes him specifically asking us to “check inside the suits in the back room” and that the FNAF3 Purple Guy minigame death involves him being killed inside an animatronic in the back room and Mike somehow receiving instructions from William to go to Sister Location’s bunker in the first place I consistently have to remind myself that gameplay and minigame lore for each game don’t necessarily take place in the same timeframe/year/order. The FNAF2-3 minigames clearly take place BEFORE FNAF1 since the restaurant is open during them even if their actual gameplay don’t chronologically happen before FNAF1 So if Afton were to truly be phone guy, he could easily leave messages BEFORE the Springlock failure and possibly even after when released from the back room in FNAF3 since he just refuses to die

I really want to point this out, and your comment helps clarify my point. The movie was specifically made to where you shouldnt be able to theorize about the games story using the movie. Here are some things that are true in the movie: Purple Guy is the phone guy, Dream theory is proven real, Sparky the dog is real, Vannesa is Williams daughter, Mike is not williams son, and finally, the movie (and by extension vanessa being an adult) takes place in the year 2000. The movie also seems to fit the version of the story provided by The Living Tombstone in their song, "Five Nights at Freddy's". Now why does this matter? Because its all known to be incorrect in the actual games story. This was intentionally done so that you cant use, for example, mikes motivation in the movie to theorize about mikes motivation in the games, as in the movie, mike is a completely different character with completely different family, with a relation to someone who ends up scheming his downfall at a Sparky the Dog themed restaurant. I know its like talking to a wall to suggest that Matpat and Fuhnaff make connections where none should be made, directly to Fuhnaff and Matpat fans, but my hope is that some people realize that these two, sure come up with creative ideas, but nothing with real substance and foundation. They make theories that sound compelling enough to believe them, but really theyre kind of just based on nothing. The "Mrs Afton is behind everything" theory is a great example, where they propose that the CEO of Fazbear's (an entity we know nothing about) is actually Mrs Afton (a character we know nothing about), and it feels like it could be true because we have no answers for either, and lumping them both together has no competing evidence because there is no information about these characters at all, yet due to how they present the theories, many fnaf fans now believe with near certainty that Mrs Afton is the one pulling the strings of modern fnaf. The movie is now just in the same situation as the books where bad theorists use information from the external media to explain unexplained parts of the games story, under the explanation that they are "parallels" and since some things are the same between the two stories, other things must be the same as well. The fnaf movie was design smarter than the books, intending for fans to realize that any evidence drawn from it would be tainted by falsehoods, but clearly it didnt work, as now those bad theorists like matpat and fuhnaff are trying to link the movie to the games any way they can, like suggesting that because vannessa is williams daughter in the movie, that she could be the same in games, even though in the movie william has no other children aside from vanessa, meaning that if you claim vanessa as wills daughter using the movie as evidence, that you have to also say that mike and the crying child werent his kids, and Elizabeth never existed, which obviously isnt true. You cant just pick and choose what is true for the sake of your theory, because if you say some of the movie is true, then you have to say all of it is.

We get a call from the same phone guy in fnaf 2 on the 6th night stating that “The place was shut down, someone used one of the old suits, we had a spare in the back, a yellow one.” So the phone guy couldn’t have been William if the phone guy was sending a voicemail regarding someone dying in the spring Bonnie suit. We also get recordings of the same phone guy in fnaf 3 stating “Don’t use the spring lock suits and that the Spring bonnie is off limits.” Hope this helps.

On my opinion, I think in game lore, Evan or Chris or whatever his name is dows not possess Golden Freddy because there's hospital references in FNAF 4 showing that he went to hospital which means he was nowhere near Golden Freddy when he died. Of course it can be argued that we play as Mike or someone else on FNAF 4's main gameplay but idk

Your'e theory about the family relationship makes Sense. It would explain why Henry is just Henry and not Henry Emily in the encyclopedia. Its because Henry might not be an Emily but an afton. Which would also explain why Charlotte is Emily because Henry wife is Emily, not henry.

Talking about Mikes parents has got me thinking about the show Mike watched in sister location, it constantly reiterates that despite their similarities the vampire doesn’t think the baby is his son so is it possible that Mike in the games is actually Henry’s son? Perhaps Williams wife cheated on him with Henry and William finds out years later and William feeling like Henry had taken his son from him decided to take Henry’s daughter from him, could that be the motivation for his first murder

I though someone would’ve mentioned this at some point when discussing the “Garrett is the Puppet” theory, but the Puppet actually does appear in the movie. The first time Mike goes into the pizzeria and looks behind the curtain, if you look closely into the darkness when he shines his flashlight on Chica, you can see two pinpricks of white light. Although you could argue that this could be anything, like a Shadow animatronic, I would argue that the size of these pinpricks are too small compared to Shadow Bonnie and Shadow Freddy (whose pupils are a bit bulkier). Plus, this makes a ton of thematic sense. Garrett watching over his brother from the very beginning is not only a touching moment, but it also aligns with the upcoming movie plans, exploring FNAF 2. Now that the first game has been explored, Mike can follow the breadcrumb trail that Garrett has left for him, spelling out “COME FIND ME” in the credits as a call to his older brother.

I'm still holding out hope that Afton and Henry are a Tyler Durdin situation. It would give a framework for some of the ambiguity in the lore and some of the symmetry between Afton and Henry's lives. The dead daughters merge with Afton becoming something that came about out of guilt out of one of his (as Henry) creations killing his daughter, the flip flopping of the divorce story between game and books, the flip flopping of Henry vs Afton being the robotics genius, etc

Commenting as I watch, but it is possible that rather than Henry keeping his life a secret, he could’ve been a robotics engineer who made robots rather than an actual business partner. To combat this, it does seem like William recognizes Mike’s last name, a lot of people overlooked that scene but he definitely had a change of heart when he realized who he was talking to. It’s possible that the memory of William was blocked out of Mike’s mind and Abby wouldnt have been old enough to remember him

I watched the film and i think Mike's father might be Henry. Because even though the lore changed something, there must be things that are same. In movie Mike mentions that after Garret got kidnapped, his mom left. Then Mike didn't clearly tell what happened to his father but he paused a bit so he probably killed himself. Just like in Silver eyes.(You Just said that too and glad lots of people thinks like that!)

I have a theory that Vanessa’s name (movie version) is Elizabeth. William had to change his name to Steve Raglan to most likely hide from the law. If Vanessa was working with Afton, who’s to say that Afton would force “Vanessa” to change her name to Vanessa Shelly?

In the books Mike's parents were described as his mom just kind of withered away in depression after failing to recreate Gabe with Abby, and Mike says that his dad just straight up ran off. Also Abby has a trust fund in the books which makes more sense than just social security for aunt Jane since Henry could have had a small fortune from his works with Fazbear Ent.

i think the ella doll springlock suit is put there to explain how humanoid robots come to life. A child is killed and put in that doll and so the girl's spirit in the doll would be fueling the soul of the charlie bots . So I think the ella doll that gives life to charlie in the novels was a real kid once

It really feels like Scott is mixing the lore up on purpose…. Also just a quick thought, wasn’t there a theory that a rogue game designer created the fnaf games to present the company in a better light. The movie maybe a way to tell the actual story and how the games manipulated the storyline
