Long time simmer here! You cracked the joke about the drug dealing expansion early in the video. I would invite you to explore the world of Custom Content. Seriously, it opens up the world to a lot of cool possibilities. For starters, you need Basemental's Drug Mod and MC Command Center. Pretty much everyone has Basemental and absolutely everyone has MC Command Center. MC gives you control over things that you normally wouldn't be able to access and well, Basemental is pretty self explanatory. Next up, I would suggest either Extreme Violence for the hilarious kill counts that happen or the Book of Chaos from the same creator. As for bug fixes, there are plenty of mods that fix the plethora of bugs and glitches. I would highly suggest looking up Little Miss Sam for her bug fixes. Hope this helps!

I've been playing for years. In terms of DLC, you're probably best off aiming for Expansion packs first, over Game packs, Stuff packs, or Kits. I would also wait for a sale, especially for DLC you aren't 100% interested in. Also, keep an eye out for whenever kits or stuff packs are available for free. Here's a break-down: The expansions add the most, particularly in terms of actual game play, and usually also come with expansive new worlds (the exception being Seasons, which massively overhauled existing worlds). The most recommended ones would probably be Seasons, Cats & Dogs, Cottage Living, Horse Ranch, and Growing Together, since the things they add are most likely to effect your typical experience. Expansions are all pretty solid, though, so, apart from some being buggier than others. Game packs add more niche gameplay, such as the ability to become a tomb raider, vampire, or the hero of a town. Quite a few also add new, smaller sized worlds. The most recommended ones to get are Vampires, Werewolves, Realm of Magic, Jungle Adventure, and Parenthood. Those are the ones that add supernatural life-states, the cool tomb raiding stuff, and the family stuff. For the most part, game packs are solid, but there are quite a few that are "controversial" purchases. Those are My Wedding Stories (it's probably the buggiest pack), Journey to Batuu (Star Wars promotion), Dine Out (still buggy), and StrangerVillle (linear storyline based on Stranger Things). Stuff packs add some gameplay, but are mostly cosmetics (stuff like new clothes or new chairs). The most recommended ones are Tiny Living, Home Chef Hustle, Crystal Creations, and Vintage Glamor. There are more "controversial" or "bad" Stuff packs. Those include Moschino (unwanted high end fashion brand collaboration), Perfect Patio (pointless), Luxury Party (also pointless), and My First Pet Stuff (half the content is locked if you don't also own Cats & Dogs). Kits are almost exclusively cosmetics, either focused on Build/Buy or Create-A-Sim (CAS). The only exception is Bust the Dust, which didn't go over well with the community and was very buggy when it came out. Kits have had more controversial launches than not, are known to be wildly overpriced, and generally receive "meh" reviews in the long run. As for recommendations, I would probably focus more on the Build/Buy kits, especially ones that add random clutter, and only get the CAS kits when they go for free. The only kit I genuinely wouldn't recommend is Carnival Streetwear, since I strongly dislike it on principal (it was a collab with a specific artist/influencer, and the outfits are specifically made to reflect their personal style, but it was marketed as a "cultural" DLC that represented Brazil and Carnival as a whole).

Then I read some Polish, reviewed some words, racked up 12 new mastered words for the day, and marked it off my to-do list where I'm challenging myself to improve in 3 areas daily. And then I was like, hey . . . (Still, music and a flashy icon would be nice when you've done something great.)

James Turner has a KZbin Video about the most liked expansions. He does a survey with his audience every year. So if you want to know what the best expansions are, you could check that out. Or more like if you want to know the worst expansions. A lot of sims packs have a lot of bugs. So the ones with the most bugs usually have the lowest rating. That way you can avoid them (though the most bugged ones are "Dine out" and the wedding pack). I would love to see you play an active career, I don't know why. So maybe have a look at getting "get to work"?

if you have mood arts (like the focused work you sold from the observatory) you can click on them to enable their emotional auras then they'll give you a moodlet of that type whenever youre in that room (i recommend having one inspired work and one focused work in your computer room, and then switching them on or off based on the skill you want to advance)
@rodh1404

A challenge like this is made MUCH easier with the Get Together expansion. Clubs have the "Rally The Troops" interaction, which means your Sim never needs to sleep. If you create a club immediately and focus on club interactions, you can get that on day 1. There are also ways to change your Sim's mood and increase skill gain. If you work it right, I expect you could complete this challenge in just 50 days with that. I'm not sure if you took them, but the Early Bird and Night Owl traits also help a lot with skill gains. And since you're doing Mixology anyway, by joining the Culinary -> Mixology career, there's an opportunity (at Career level 9) to buy the Snaggle Fuster recipe. That's awesome because it boosts skill gains by an incredible amount for the 3 hours it's active. Another way to make money quickly and get fast satisfaction points is to complete the Soulmate aspiration. Going on dates can cost nothing and give you a reward you can sell for good money. If your partner is in the right mood, the date itself won't take long to get to gold level either.

So for expansions i think it really depends what you want to play. Do you like Vampires/Wizards/...? Do you want to do like a family legacy challenge? Do you want to have many new skills and careers? But in general, theres a James Turner Video on what his community voted as the best and worse expansions The Sims 4 has, so feel free to look at that for a general idea :) Also, I know that wouldnt at all be possible for a single video (maybe with only basegame), but i started a challenge a while ago, where i want to complete every skill, every career, every aspiration, get every bonus reward trait, finish all university degrees and get all Milestones (the last two are only with expansions though). That is very fun but it takes ages😂

Your advice about learning an instrument is much the same I feel about learning a language! I think it’s the fact that if you stick with it you can literally experience your progress; i.e you get proof you’re improving when you can understand/read/talk better and with instruments the proof is hearing yourself play. There’s no better feeling than going to practice and you’re ready to be disappointed but all of a sudden there’s a big change/improvement that’s impossible to ignore!

I think it just comes with the territory of the content style. 100 days etc is kind of like the shorts of gaming content. Most people I assume just remember a game or find a new one they are interested in, and want to see that played, they want to watch a complete series but not invest in something that’s 30 minutes an episode for 100 episodes, these types of videos are a really good in between for being interested in a game and being dedicated to a playthrough. So they look to the videos for content, not the creators themselves

I’m a dirty sims min-maxer and there are so many ways to optimize this challenge. For one, there are very simple actions you can do to get moodlets that buff skill gain. If you have that moodlet and a bunch of other happy moodlets, you can become very focused for example, boosting focused skill gain even more. focusing logic is easiest and boosts skill gain even more. You can swap between all of the aspirations to collect points in order to get the savant, day person and night person perks to maximize skill gain. From there you would save up aspiration points to get the one where your sim no longer has to sleep. Completing the artist aspiration allows you to make paintings that alter moods, so that would be good to do early as well. Gonna have to try this soon.

Try Get to Work. You get Baking skill to make food with, and you get to play as a scientist, a medic or a police officer. For single-sim player those careers are great since you get to go with your sim. Scientist maybe. Try and complete some collections while you're at it. Another is that plants grow at 5 am in the neighborhood you happen to be in. So-- maybe Outdoor Retreat for camping gear so one sim can go around making sure all plants are grown or something while learning herbalism. You may also want tiny home stuff pack for the next skill-builder.

I would like to say if it hasn't been said already... if you don't have any other emotion based buffs active, having earbuds (which I believe are basegame) and use them to play focused music ( which I think isn't in the base game but I don't remember which pack it comes in) makes you focused... So that eliminates having to run back to do some chess all the time.

I challenge you to complete one aspiration in each section and get all skills maxed. I have been passively doing this challenge myself with my immortal wearwolf sim. She is currently working on a wearwolf skill that won't end.

As someone with 1000+ hours in the Sims this is kind of like watching a child learn to spell. Not how I do it anymore, but I get how you got there and am happy to see you explore things that are normal to me by now Edit: Just to clarify, this is supposed to be a compliment. I should really take some notes and unlearn the grindset of doing everything "the optimal way"

with handiness level 9 you can make your computer run faster when playing games and increase the effectiveness of hacking, so that's one of the first skill any player should build first, since it also help other skills (like logic, by upgrading the telescope or microscope) that skill can make you shower, sleep and clean less often, so it translate into more hours to max skills in the long run

It's been months or even years since the last time I play The Sims 4. But you might have just inspired me to pick it up again. This challenge looks like something I'd love to hate.

If you ever do this again, I highly recommend playing with seasons installed. You can play on a day called "new skill day" and crank out a lot of exp in new skills that day.

You missed photography! It's a base game skill, although it's enhanced by Moschino stuff and City Living.

you playing sims makes my heart so happy, i watched your 1000 days vids in PZ & you made me fall in LOVE with that game. so it’s nice to see you play a game i already love, imo i think that it’d be fun for you to get get to work, get famous, cats & dogs (your guy deserves a little companionship 🫶🏻) , werewolves (i LOVE werewolves- it has a special place in my heart) really - anything occult in the sims is fun! i wouldn’t touch my wedding stories with a 10ft pole or dine out UNLESS you have mods! which if you’re interested in, the mods community on the sims is VERY generous basemental mods is one of my favs- adds very interesting aspects 😅 anyways! happy simming & i’d love to see you play more 🫶🏻
