If you want to buy the "old Pocket" I highly suggest buying the "BMMCC". The Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera. Same sensor. BUT: raw 3:1 (yes. raw compression so you can record 3x times more footage on your SD card). Better battery support. You can use LP-E6 Canon Canmeras. Full HDMI port. The BMMCC has no monitor, but a Full HDMI output. You can buy a nice cage and add a 5 Inch or 7 Inch on top of it. And a handle underneath the camera. The BMMCC is a box and looks a bit like a "Small RED Komodo". It lightweight, striped down, and I used the BMMCC a long time before switching to the Pocket 4k. As I wrote. raw compression., Better battery, Full HMDI. 3 features I love about the BMMCC and missing so much at the "original pocket"

I did take a brief look into it, but couldn’t find one for anywhere close to the price of the OG :) my other concern would be the buttons - the OG pocket doesn’t have many, and if I remember correctly the BMMCC has even fewer!

@@DSLRguide he forget to mention bmmcc also shoots full HD raw 60fps great for slow motions. I am selling fully rigged bmmcc in good condition. bad side of bmmcc is buttons are uncomfortable but i bought One Little Remote V4 Control which with few clicks right front of you, can change any setting in camera without touching the camera. They dont sell this remote anymore. if you interested I can show you photo of the set up. I have Canon R5 8k raw vs bmcc 1080p raw, canon still looks digital compare to bmmcc. Most people think this sensor have film look, but its not just about the colors, it's motion, having someone walking or running scene on dslr, slrs looks digital motion like mobile phone, but motion on bmpcc or bmmcc more like film motion close to arri.

@@DSLRguide I had the BMPCC then broke the HDMI port so got a BMMCC (Insurance payout yay!). The buttons do suck but i built a lanc controller for it and rigged it up and loved it. Used it professionally for years until I started needing 4k for more projects so moved to a ZCAM E2 which feels like the big brother to the Micro.

With all the trimmings etc., the small Arri Alexa called OG BMPCC is more compact ;) drive.google.com/file/d/1uMFumQkBaaSLI0MU1masaAKtZj5kdbpO/view?usp=sharing drive.google.com/file/d/1X9ObPqi_rkFKvoLvb1o9e-7ubFhvj4sS/view?usp=sharing Does not have a fan, but the sensor is cooled like Arri Alexa with a Peltier element ;)

I just have to say you should really add some cage clamped adapters/extenders to this camera, because it's ports aren't the most sturdy and robust things out there, and if they break that usually is the end of the camera with out even more hacks. Yes it makes it a little bit bigger, but this is about protecting ones investment in an old, quirky, but awesome little camera for years to come.

A couple of yeahs on, I'm all in. 2 eosm and a 700D all running Magic Lantern. The benefits of old cameras is you have money for lights, lens and other gear. Shooting raw video is great too.

Ah, sentimental! Much respect for your fidelity to the old pixie workhorse, hanging onto the old HD tech. I don't think I've ever been able to reproduce the color "feeling" of my original BMPCC, from even its immediate successors. The only thing that prevents me from using it anymore, is the way it's surrounded with 4K cameras, impossible to suitably blend into a multicam shoot.

Seems like quite the hassle for an older camera that has a small micro 4/3rd sensor😬. However, if it works for you, that’s what matters 😊 👍. I don’t have much money to even buy a new camera, but someday, I’d like to get one that has more ease-of-use, at least an aps-c sensor, the flexibility of recording 10 bit, and less accessories to buy, but I suppose I’m talking about a dream camera. Whatever happened to your Canon EOS t3i (600d)? I still kind of use that at work. We also have an 80d which is much nicer, but the limitations are much to be desired. I guess it’s functional and useful for run-and-gun b-roll, but I suppose I’m seduced by the shiny new cameras the different manufacturers keep popping up left and right lol.
