HELLO FRIENDS!! i hope you enjoyed this trip to the Ice Hotel in Sweden (and also our extended hi-jinks trying to actually **get** to the Ice Hotel)!! Our small stint at the ice bar in vegas couldn’t have prepared us for the bone-chilling-yet-very-beautiful rooms that this hotel had to offer. what do you guys think? pretty **cool**, eh? would you go to a hotel made of ice?? and, where should we go next? ☃also - to add on to our disclaimer in the video - "lapland" is not a technically a shared region, it's a general region that spans across a few different countries! sorry for any confusion there!

Its pretty common knowledge that the hotel gets re-built every year, but the funny bit to me is that they start building it 30 days before the hotel is set to open. Meaning that when you book your room, the hotel you're booking for doesn't even exist yet.

For what it's worth: as a long-time follower and a Sámi person, I did appreciate the inclusion of the term Sápmi when explaining what Lapland is, even if it was just a text footnote. For those who do not know, Lapland, and particularly the term Lapp or Laplander for Sámi people (the indigenous people of northern Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Russia), is derogatory. Lapland being the land where Lapps come from. We prefer to be called Sámi and the land area Sápmi. But the fact that Lapland is still the name of the region geographically is a political issue, and that is unfortunately the name as far as maps are currently concerned. Either way, I do appreciate the attempt at inclusivity. I sincerely hope you guys were able to learn about the Sámi people while in Kiruna and in northern Finland (since I think that video will be about the northern lights?).

@TakenTook Жыл бұрын
@@electric_spacecats -- It's a different situation when you have cold temperatures in Texas, because your houses are not usually built for that. I've read that a lot of your furnaces run on electricity instead of gas since you don't need to use them as often. The pipes in your walls might not have insulation around them to protect against the cold, so it would be easy for them to burst if you don't keep the water running at a trickle in cold weather. And even if you have warmer clothes and winter coats, you're just not used to those temperatures.

As an Idahoan, I would be absolutely thrilled if you stayed in our potato hotel and made a vid on that! 😄 I love the whole design of the ice hotel, and the beautiful carvings are just so * chefs kiss * It's too bad you missed out on the other events, but I think the video came out great! I can't wait to see the next vid! 💕

Next time you’re in Stockholm I’d definitely recommend seeing the vasa ship. It an almost perfectly preserved 17th century ship that went down on its maiden voyage without making it out of the harbour And as a Dane, I really appreciated the jab at swedes. We’re always ready, and actually still have a law that it’s okay to hit any swede who walks across the ice on the sea between Denmark and Sweden
@MissCaraMint Жыл бұрын
My Norwegian heart loves the jabs at the Swedish as well. Norway and Denmark were always the best of allies so it makes sense.

@@Ellulellu as someone who lives about 1,5 hours away from the ice hotel, i personally definitely prefer winter over summer, theres so much more to do up here such as snowmobiling, skiing, ice fishing and more, but the summer can also be nice with the midnight sun ☀️

Devilofsweden, sounds like a dream, sounds like early childhood. As a Finn, I did sleep my nap times as a baby in buggy outside. Colder it was, better I slept. Of course mother did not put me outside if it was too cold (like -15 C), and dressed me correctly (warm, but not too warm). Weardly, I have not slept in minus Celsius degrees since I was baby, but I definately should, I think.

Hebrews 12:14 Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord. Acts 3:19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, James 2:24,26 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. John 3:16 'For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 3:17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 3:19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.

The most interesting hotel I have stayed at was in Coober Pedy, an opal mining town in the middle of Australia. The hotel was underground, carved into the rock. Pretty much everyone lives undergound because of the heat, and quite a few businesses are built underground. And random film props from movies that filmed there. Super interesting town :)

That would be so cool to see them cover! I went through a period where I was super fascinated with that place and watched as many docs and KZbin videos on it that I could find! I still think it’s extremely interesting.

@@lisahoshowsky4251 Me and my friend went there too because of seeing things about it online and being fascinated. We joked about going there and how random it would be, but a few weeks later, her wife said that she booked me and my friend our plane tickets to go on our silly trip. Was such a cool time. Definitely recommend visiting there sometime and it would be cool to see them cover this place one day

The salt hotel in Bolivia is pretty cool. It's a really nice hotel, and it's fun that it's made out of salt. But the salt flat next to it is *spectacular* It's important to go when it's flooded (it floods with just a few inches of water) to get the most amazing experience. The reflection is so perfect and immense, you feel like you're driving for miles in the sky. Seriously magical. It's also important to get a guide! It's very big and tourists can get lost and endanger themselves if they don't have a guide.
