HELLO FRIENDS!! Welcome to the final installment of our Nordic/Scandinavian trip - the Glass Igloos in Finland! So far on our trip, we have taken a communal hot bath at the Blue Lagoon in Iceland, nearly cryogenically frozen ourselves at the ICEHOTEL in Sweden, and now we're on to Arctic Finland to stay in a glass igloo under the northern lights!
For years, I've been seeing the glass igloos in Finland on my instagram, tiktok - *and KZbin shorts* feeds - and I've always wanted to try them out. I've never seen the northern lights before, and I've also never stayed in a human-sized terrarium before, but I've always been intrigued by those see-through bubble tents - so we decided to go and try one out and see if we freeze our butts off! And while at Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort, home of the glass igloos, we also tried a bunch of arctic activities - like snowmobiling, reindeer sleigh rides, dog sledding, and traditional Finnish sauna-ing and ice bathing!!
What do you think?? Would you stay in a glass igloo?

@@Ali_D_Katt I always wondered. I see a lot american youtubers/streamers etc just letting their dog into their garden to do their buisness or go on a little 20 min walk. For most dogs thats waaay to less. Every Dog, even the smallest, needs Brain, Nose and Body activity in their daily life. Some need more running, some more nose work etc. depending on race and age. And of course also their time to rest, sleep. Over here we have specific rules for our dogs, seeing all those "funny" videos of dogs ripping apart trash, furniture... mostly from america, just shows something wents very wrong there ^^

I once crossed into Czechia by accident on a scavenger hunt, because the girl who was holding the map confused the border with a big road… the camp guide asked as not to talk about it at camp, not because it was or something illegal but because it was unplanned and she didn’t want to get into trouble… 😅

My country literally has a town that just has pieces of Belgium inside of it. Also, there is the "drielandenpunt", and there is just a rock you can walk around and you cross the borders to and from Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands. I also remember the first time I went to America and had to cross the border into Canada being astonished by the hassle. Edit: I see similar comments now, sorry

I'm really happy you included Finland in your Scandinavian visit because I have seen way too many people ignore us. People seem to think our country is not that cool or interesting but it honestly is very much like Sweden. I also love the pronunciation of Finnish things, always fun to hear how someone from somewhere else says them. Also fun fact: Finland invented the Sauna over 2000 years ago and every single house has one, all apartment buildings also have a sauna to reserve if you don't have one in your apartment. Smoke saunas are the best! A cool swim in the lake right after sauna is the fricking best and there's no other feeling in this world that could beat that for me. Can't wait for mid summer.

I'm from Northern Ontario in Canada and we get -40 degrees Celsius in the winter. I've worked at a gold mine in Nunavut and experienced -60 degrees celsius during the winter. While growing up, I've seem a lot of northern lights. Being indigenous to the area, our elders used to tell us that "if you whistle at the northern lights, they'll pick you up and take you away." It was more than likely a deterrent to keep up home late at night. :)

Norwegian here. So glad you decided to visit Scandinavia and had a good time here. I would like to say that sadly stomach bugs are a pretty common thing to catch around winter times here (At least from my own experience). Also, I know our winters gets cold (Especially compare to where in the US you are from) , but I get the feeling you lot were not dressed properly for the Scandinavian winters. I kept seeing Saf and Tyler not covering their neck with something warm when outside, which is pretty important to not get sick. Still, it was a delight watching the two of you exploring something so close to my own home, and hopefully you'll visit us again someday. ❤ (Sorry if my English is shaky)

@@halaileybailey Oh, -20 degrees in Fahrenheit is about as cold as it gets in most of Finland during winter, with some short exceptions, usually in the very north and sometimes east. According to the converter I used, that would be about -29 celsius :D I read that this past winter's cold record was about -35 degrees celsius (-31 degrees fahrenheit) and it was in the northernmost region, as could be expected. The coldest it's ever been recorded here was -51,5 celsius (-60 fahrenheit) and that was over twenty years ago. It is much more typical to have longer periods of about -10 to -15 degrees celsius (14 to 5 degrees fahrenheit), with the very South being too warm to have consistent snow coverage. Our temperatures are actually much milder compared to the same latitude in other parts of the world, since the Gulf Stream keeps us somewhat warm :D We just get the light and darkness of the north, with the somewhat livable temperatures :'D Northern Finland doesn't get even a sliver of sun for a month during winter, and the sun doesn't go below the horizon for an equal time during summer. It's always fun to look at sunrise and sunset times of the town of Utsjoki and see a date instead of a time xD I personally live about half-way up the country, so here, you basically get three hours of sunrise going straight to sunset, during winter, and it's often hidden by clouds, anyway. The opposite in the summer, and even when the sun is down for the couple hours it stays below horizon, the sky doesn't get dark, it just becomes "evening" for a while :D

I hope you get to experience it, sometime! I'm Finnish myself, and we are definitely proud of our nature, here. One of my own favorite winter experiences was the winter biology field course I took some years ago, with our group cross country skiing through the frozen forests and mires of a national park, while it was all sunshine and powdered snow, during daytime. The way snow glimmers in sunlight never ceases to amaze me! I definitely recommend our strongest relaxation tradition, sauna, as well as the avanto-swimming (dipping into the frozen lake), although, to be perfectly honest with you, I've never done the winter swimming, myself! Only late autumn swimming, without snow and ice :'D There is an alternative though, which is taking a roll in the powdered snow in only your bathing suit or naked, and running back to sauna, that one I have done many times! But you need soft powder snow for that to be a good experience :D I definitely should try the avanto next winter, though, need to be able to call myself a true Finn and all that xD

My mom does ice bathing (avantouinti; avanto = an opening in a frozen lake, uinti = swimming) throughout the winter in a dedicated swimming spot in a lake nearby with the water kept in motion mechanically in order to keep it from freezing over. She swims multible rounds in this small pool sized pond. I'd like to start too but the capital city area is basically the only place in southern Finland where every neighborhood doesn't have a lake nearby. My dad describes ice bathing like this: "It's as fun as banging your hed to a wall - feels really good when you stop." I'm so glad you got to visit Finland and had fun!

It's not the only word however the other is a type of stone so not as used or known as sauna. Rapakivi granite is the other I could think of.

I genuinely think this is one of my favorite videos of this series. There were just so many great moments in it, glass igloos, northern lights, the PUPPIES! Also the comments under this video are so wholesome! 10/10 video, will watch again 😊

As someone who developed a roaring head cold about 30 minutes into an 8 hour transatlantic flight, which ended up with 2 more connecting flights about 1 hr each, you have my sincerest sympathies. The pressure makes everything insanely more miserable than it would be in normal conditions.

@Snow999 Ok so when you get a cold your symptoms can appear in your head or in your chest. For me a cold usually starts with a runny and stuffed up nose, and in extreme cases pugged up ears, this is what is a classic head cold. Then I start a sore throat and coughing/respiratory symptoms, and this is what we call a chest cold. Now the big deal about flying with a head cold is the pressure changes. When your drainage system goes down due to a cold you can’t really pot your ears to equalize the pressure as well, it sometimes at all. This is really painful. It’s partly why babies cry a lot on airplane. They can’t regulate their pressure system as well as we can so flying can be legit uncomfortable or even painful for them. So yeah. Hope that’s an understandable explanation.

These frozen travel vlogs are actually fire! Love this series, and would love to see you do more ice / cryo therapy stuffs. I'm starting that routine myself, so it would be cool to have your vlogs going into that adventure!

Ive actually never heard of a glass igloo, now I want to venture to Finland to experience this. I love your channel because it shows me places I’d like to go and experience when I’m older and have the money. Thanks for the uploads safiya ❤
