You don't divide the odds by 5, as all encounters are independant. It's the same as hunting with 5 systems at the same time, and you obviously don't divide odds there.

Yea I know, it’s just a simpler way of looking at it. I know it’s objectively not correct but that’s what literally every site lists the horde battle rates at so I thought I’d just say that to save the statistic explanation because it confuses a lot of people lmao

Yes you do because its 1/4096 or 1/1365 divided by 5 because its 5 encounters

Statistically that’s actually not how it works. Theres a really good video by Adef called “Using math to settle Pokémon’s biggest debate” that proves it. The odds aren’t increased, you just go through encounters 5 times the speed (ultimately it still leads to the same results)

I’ve been hunting in ORAS for a few weeks and I’ve had some good luck unlike radar chaining in Y but I’m gonna try horde hunting and see how it turns out.
