@bubba the truth seeker, how rude to say that about him. The seller has an option to say NO too. I don't really think a couple of dollars is going to make or break these people in the mansion sized houses. John is very polite and honest. He uses his manners and is very friendly. He's not holding these people against their will if they disagree on the price. He leaves on good terms where both parties are satisfied. It's really sad that you feel that way about John.

That Singer 301 was a great buy. There's 2 other versions of it, a 2 tone and a black. The black is the most desirable by far, the 2 tone is next and the one you got is the least. Be careful trying to run it until you know it's ok or you could hurt it. They're highly desired by quilters. Use Singer sewing machine oil, available at Walmart or Joann's to clean the entire machine using a cotton ball and oil the areas the manual specifies. Do not oil the motor, that take grease. You can get at least $ 200 for that but make sure you service it first.

Sometimes knowing neighborhoods helps with planning which garage sales to hit. Around here we have a lot of Hispanic neighborhoods usually clothes and broken toys, stuff that looks like they picked it up off the side of the road. Then you have your neighborhood with older people or people who have higher paying jobs. These are the ones to go with. These are the people with either older items or higher value items, due to their disposable incomes.
