iba talaga connection pag ang foreigner nagta-tagalog or bisaya. You can compare it to other vloggers in the Philippines. double yung effort nila to connect with the locals, since un locals un nag-aadjust sa kanila. In Jared's case, its way easier. In fact, effortless. Click agad, instant conversation.
@PaoloVenDetta6 ай бұрын
it should be mandatory to learn tagalog/bisaya if you move to the philippines. imagine moving to a western country and beeing ignorant like the majority of those foreign vloggers here in the phillipines and refuse to learn the local language. just becaues the philippinos know how to speak english, doesnt mean that they have to adapt to immigrants. they gave this wannabe philippino from canada the citizenship but yet he just sound like a tourist who learned a few words in his 3week vacation in the philippines. running around the philippines and admire the nature, the food and the people doesnt make you pinoy by heart because thats the same thing tourist do, go the extra mile, learn the langugage annd show the pinoys how really you admire them
@pidgy_poofoom6 ай бұрын
@@PaoloVenDetta I agree with you, Paulo that foreigners who decide to stay here SHOULD learn the language. However, if you are referring to Kyle Jennermann, accent ang problema niya, hindi learning the language. Kung sa pagaaral lang, he can speak Bisaya more than Tagalog bec he resides in Cateel, Davao and hardly goes to Luzon. So natural, baluktot ang Tagalog nya BUT THE FACT NA HE KNOWS BISAYA well enough to converse with the locals says a lot. Personally, hindi grammar o perfect enunciation ang na-appreciate ko, kundi yung intention and the drive to learn the language and reach out to the locals. Kung fluent nga, wala naman pake sa mga Pinoy, ayaw makipagusap, puro foreigner lang gusto kausapin, sa akin, yun ang bastos.
@PaoloVenDetta6 ай бұрын
@@pidgy_poofoom thats what im saying, depends where you decide to live, you have to learn the language. i would never blame a foreigner who learned tagalog because they settled down in manila for not speaking bisaya and vice versa. but anyway, compare that jennerdude @BecomingFilipino to @KumanderDaot or @BisayangHilaw, how good is his bisaya? you dont need to be perfectly in grammar, but i have the feeling that @BecomingFilipino only knows certain phrases like "how are you" "how much" "where is..." and so on... can @BecomingFilipino have a full conversation in bisaya like the other two mentioned foreign vloggers? i dont think so.
@pidgy_poofoom6 ай бұрын
@@PaoloVenDetta i only mentioned Kulas dahil mukhang siya un sinasabi mo na nabiyayaan ng citizenship. He can speak it actually. Though not perfectly, the intention to connect is there. And beyond the language, he has spread awareness about the culture, the landscapes and the people than most Filipinos can. I remember the time when he got his citizenship, I thought he will go lie low na, since he get what he wanted. Ang ginawa? Nilibot ulit form Luzon , alone, through his motorbike. To his defense, sa words and actions, wala akong masasabi sa mamang yun. And I feel ramdam yun ng Pinoy kaya even after almost 15 years, malakas pa rin vlogs niya. Di nalalaos. Ramdam ng tao yun eh. Yung authenticity, di napepeke.

Great channel and content, brother. Fellow Canadian here who’s also fluent in Filipino (Tagalog & Bisaya). Your grasp of the language is amazing. My only little suggestion would be to perhaps incorporate more “po” with some of your sentences. It just adds a more authentic, polite and local approach to your already beautiful fluency. Keep up the great work 👍🏾

Jared if you want to offer particularly food to someone like your friend, we say "hating-kapatid" or equal half for the two.. 50/50 "Hating" comes from hati means half portion of the thing or that food and kapatid, you know it brother or sister. So next time you offer food, you say "hati tayo! Hating-kapatid"
