Hi everyone, I hope you are doing well :) ! I felt very reluctant to share this video because I feel it was such a big fail but I hope you can learn something from it. I did a bunch of research about the paint prior to using it as well as test swatches and it seemed promising until I started on the big project. You never know how a DIY will go until you try it i guess! That said I'm still happy with my counters and use them as I usually would. At the end of the video Sharing products I've tried and techniques I've tried that stood the test of time. Hope that helps. If you're wondering why I didn't go the epoxy route it's because I've tried epoxy countertops in my bathroom and they stain super easy. I can't imagine having to keep up with that in the kitchen. I share more about these countertops on my blog - www.lilyardor.com/painting-my-granite-countertops/

Can you tell me how to find the video where you painted the floors? I have vinyl black and white diner style flooring that has literally been down since the house was built in 1958....I don't have the money to redo the whole 1300 sq ft right now & was thinking about if I could paint it and now I see that it's possible & apparently you've done it!!! I'm just not sure about the process or what are the best products to use... Thanks so much!!!

@@lacishai23 I share about it here- www.lilyardor.com/painted-floor/ I just painted my sons room that had old vinyl flooring and it's holding up so good. I used the same primer and latex paint and I used varathane clear finish. Hope to share an updated version soon. Also I find you don't need to sand the floor as long as it's cleaned with tsp to decrease. Let me know if you have any questions.

Most granite have a sealer on the surface. I’m guessing if the granite surface was roughed with 240 grit it reduce the paint chipping.
@tooquic4042 жыл бұрын
i use 220 grit myself but they both get the job done.

why would you help anyone to destroy thier granite? this process should not even exists. what a garbage idea.

Thanks for being brave enough to share! Failure is just a stepping stone to success. I am going to paint over my marble bathroom counters. They are outdated and not my color palette. Anything will be better!

I had great luck recoating a rusty bathtub with the appliance epoxy. Sanded, cleaned with acetone and applied it in a sealed environment using plastic wrap and tape. It lasted 5 years which was much longer than I expected.

Thank you for sharing so we can learn from your mistakes! I need to spray paint my cabinets and was planning on taping off like your initially did, so I learned I should actually cover the floor, etc. too - thank You!

Oh gosh yes I definitely recommend taping off the whole room if you plan on spray-painting anything in the house. I’m glad to hear this was helpful 🥰🥰

Do you think the varathane would discolor the white epoxy paint?

I thought your countertops looked badass before the white tbh. But hey, no harm in getting a little adventurous with paint lol ive done my fair share of that

Honestly reading this made me smile lol! I totally planning on stripping the paint off. It didn't really stand up well to high tracffic. They are still pretty white but look rough and beat up. Hope to get the counters to the original color and match the kitchen to them. Crazy how you never know unless you try something. Would prob def not try this again.

V33 is a paint that goes on all surfaces, whiteout primer . No Special coat needed afterwards. kzbin.info/www/bejne/kHikn2eLbrSKf5Y

2K Epoxy coating would be much more durable almost bulletproof. Everything else will fail, either by chipping or flaking or just getting dirty.

She also forgo to sand down on her counter before her first coat, and she would have saved more money by using paint and primer with a foam roller
