Great tutorial, thanks! I'm dying of curiosity, though. What is the purpose of using the swatch of fabric in the beginning where you ended your stitching? I just can't figure it out.

This is just to avoid having to pull the threads and cut them every time. I'm using an industrial sewing machine, so I would have to turn lift the presser foot and manually turn the hand wheel every time to do that. So this is just a shortcut. 🙂
