The Harry Potter series has literally saved my life. Twice. I am hugely conflicted about the whole Rowling thing, and am having difficulty separating her from her work. I’ve decided that the fandom has been out of her hands for quite some time and has become a world of its own with lots of input from others. I have stopped sharing any of my Harry Potter stuff on my social media though. It’s not worth upsetting my trans friends or people who are prone to banning such things from their life. I am trying not to be resentful of it, but it is what it is. A constant struggle. I will be making my own slithering medieval garb at some point as well. I want to weave everything for it though so it’s going to take some time. I am also going to embroider everything so, you know, it’s going to be several years. Many several years XD

First: Best asides ever. I'm glad for all the crafty dabbling I have done over the years because one of the results is now I can follow as you describe your Slytherin costume journey. I also understand a bit about how hard you have worked and continue to work to do the making. When I saw costumes at the Renaissance Faire, I was much taken with them, so now I'm glad for this opportunity to enjoy the process without actually doing any of the work. It's fascinating. Thank you.

I really appreciate your comments to start on the Harry Potter universe because it is such a fraught situation because of the author. I don't know a lot about weaving, drafting, sewing, or dying so some of this was totally beyond me but it was SO COOL to see the thought process behind your choices. It is such a deep dissection into considering historical accuracy and color accuracy that I just loved listening. Also I laughed out loud multiple times at your quips. Thanks for sharing. -- a total noob lol
