We use Premier Inn so 're time when visiting family around the country. We had to book a premier plus room just before Christmas because it was all that was available. It was nice, but TBH, I wouldn't book again if a standard room was available - we only want somewhere clean to sleep and have breakfast before leaving for the day - so, for me, the extra money isn't worth it.

✨As someone who works at Premier Inn I wanted to give my professional opinion First, yes there should have been two bottles of water in that fridge… I don’t know why it wasn’t there and I’m so sorry for that On overall that room doesn’t reflect actual standard as this room is done wrong in so many ways, including the bed which is horrible and not up to brand standards Also the kettle in that room is wrong and there is another kettle used in that room that is bigger and better Plus, there are smaller pillows in that bag with extra pillows About chocolates - you can always go back to reception or catch a housekeeper and ask fo more chocolates and tees (even if you are not staying in plus room 😜) In general, you had every right to ask for your money back as I look at that room, the bed shocked me tbh. And as you come in the bedside lamps should have been turned on the pillows that should have been a lot more neat with light in the room turned off You were also given a wrong key card, there’s another one for plus rooms that is themed for those rooms And not all premier inns have the sign about illegal substances, it might be a thing in London, doesn’t say anything about the whole brand

Had a premier plus room in Bournemouth (if you're ever staying try to get one of the sea view rooms, one of the best room views in Bournemouth) Main plus of the premier plus room was the fridge, there is complimentary water in it, and if you run out you just ask for more at reception. Premier Inn used to be my go-to chain, but they've changed to a "dynamic pricing" model, and they're now very poor value for money. September 2021, me and some friends stayed at a Premier Inn at Cardiff, and my room was £59 a night, including breakfast, which I think is pretty good value. In October 2022, we went back to the same hotel, as it was well located for us, and the price had shot up to £93 a night. The original plan had been to stay in another Premier Inn in the Cotswolds on our journey home, but their branch at Chipping Norton cost a truly shocking £160 for a standard room!! We ended up getting a far, far nicer Mercure hotel which cost just £7 more than what I'd paid for a night in Cardiff! Until such time as Premier Inn lower their prices, I will be in no hurry to return. It's a shame really.
@hannahk13062 жыл бұрын
I think this has always been the case - I needed to stay in Dover in August 2015 and it was about £80 per night (much more than when I'd stayed there a few months before). Hotels in general, like everything, have also shot up a lot in price recently. I think Premier Inn is still better value than say a Travelodge, but it's definitely worth shopping around for other options.

I also have meditation that is better chilled and usually resort to making a DIY fridge when I stay in hotels. I actually think all rooms should have one in!

I've stayed in a Premier Inn Tim!! Last December 2021. I had a little adventure! Just moved into my new house that was unbearably cold as I moved in December & the Extraction Fans were just like holes in the walls ( I've since made adjustments & house feels abit better) But last December after a few weeks shivering with cold I packed a bag & booked into my nearest premier Inn for the first time. I was that cold the staff gave me an extra Duvet! First room I went too the heating wouldn't work so I got moved to another room. It was a standard room but it had an extra big sofa where I sat wrapped up in the extra Duvet & it had a stunning view of a big Christmas Tree outside! And you were right Tim, the soap dispensers were like what you get in a public toilet. But the Bathroom was nice & it had a bath & shower over. There was place to hang clothes in my room & a table & chair. Plus good sized TV. I didn't get the Expresso Coffee Maker obviously being a standard room (tho I'm not a fan of Expresso!) And I had no complementary Chocolate! For the first 3 or 4 nights were fine then the air conditioning when really cold I thought the staff had turned it down on purpose cos I was always asking them to turn it up to 28°c. But downstairs the Cafe & Bar was also freezing! And everyone was complaining about being cold! After a night of cold air blowing into my room I checked out early! I was going to stay over Christmas but changed my mind I came back to my cold house instead. At least I didn't have to pay to stay at home! The positives about the Premier Inn was as you say Tim the bed was extremely comfortable & the room was clean. But if I ever had to stay in a Premier Inn again I'd go in summer when it's naturally warmer. I can't say I was impressed but that was only one experience in one Premier Inn. The premium room you were in did look luxurious & I hope the Air Conditioning was more advanced that what I experienced! Hope you had a really good stay Tim And I'd like to wish you a Happy Birthday 🎂🎉🎊aswell. I like a mini fridge in a hotel. When we travelled through the UK, we never got one with a mini fridge which comes standard with hotels in Australia. We never thought to check and the reason you want a mini fridge, it is nice to have a cold drink during the night or if you bought some food during the day that's need to be in a fridge or in my case insulin that needs to be in a fridge so these Premier Inn PLUS Room would be my pick just because of the fridge.

Yes, definitely a perk here in the UK. One tip if you need a fridge and the room doesn't have one is to ask at reception. Most hotels will have a fridge and sometimes a freezer that guests can use - they just ask you to have things labelled. It's obviously less convenient, because you have to ask at reception every time, but still useful to have.

I always check that accommodation comes with a fridge , certain medications need refrigeration and okay in a cool box for the journey but need to go straight into the fridge on arrival. Great to see these hotels catering for everyone and listening to travellers request 👍

The last time when I stayed at a Premier Inn in Cardiff they were having one of the floors done out, take it might have been starting on with the Premier Inn plus rooms. I have stayed at lots of Premier Inn myself, you know what you are getting and they a good for a night sleep. Cool room number, 3 2 1 open the door. 😀

I always take my own tea and coffe to a premier inn or travelodge, only because I have a brand I prefer. I also buy a small bottle of milk at the local supermarket before I arrive, so I would appreciate a fridge in the room as I often have to throw milk away and buy a new one if staying for a few days

Hi Tim. It's a lovely room. But I have never stayed in premier Inn or travel lodge. My sister always stay in premier Inn. I will get her to watch this one.

Stopped in the plus rooms a couple of times, the fridge is very useful as you can get a pint of proper milk so you can have lots of cups of tea as I bring Yorkshire tea bags with me when I stop in hotels!

We normally stay at Premier Inn and are happy with the standard room. Maybe for a treat and more than one night I might splurge. With you on the comfy beds but also the warm duvets, had to chuck it off last time 🤣 Good to see what you do get for your money, thank you 😊

I've stayed at the Premier Inn at Kettering in the past pre-covid and the room was freezing as the heating didn't work properly. The new style upgrade rooms do look nice and I'd probably choose them over the standard rooms. I look forward to seeing your next video.

Interesting, I've been to one in Halifax a couple of weeks ago and it was freezing as well. Like seriously freaking cold. Otherwise very tidy and calm.

Fridges are quite useful for keeping costs down. If staying for a while you can pick up snacks that will keep for lunch or dinner meaning apart from breakfast you only have one paid meal out to pay for per day.

I travelled across the country for over a year, delivering five-day training sessions, and stayed in hotels paid for by work. I bought myself a mini fridge for just over £100, and it does improve your stay. You can have fresh milk in your tea (instead of powered), meats, salads and cold drinks. The alternative is powered milk, pot noodles things or expensive and timely visits to local restaurants or fast food outlets. It is a pain to carry in and out of the place though. There may also be a safety risk in taking your own mini fridge as it's not PAT tested by the hotel, but I never asked and just did it. I justified this to myself by thinking of all the guests taking their own laptops and devices. They plug them in to charge or use without the hotel PAT testing them.

Fridge is always handy if you want a chilled wine you’ve brought with you, so it’s a defo for me. Thanks for the video I’m staying in a plus room at Paddington next month. Look forward 👏🍾

I stayed in Premier Inn in Dubai and it was superb! Even had a swimming pool plus restaurant and costa coffee cafe in the foyer. Would definitely stay there again ❤ I have a premier inn booking in Stratford upon Avon in September in the new plus room so looking forward to it now. Thanks for sharing.

The fridge would be a great touch for me, as I always take a mug, teabags, sugar and milk with me. I agree that the pillows are always too thick. I do love Premier Inn. Basic and reliable, the beds are always great and the breakfasts are second to none. Check out Mercure Hotel showers!

I've just stayed 3 nights at the Goodrington beach hotel in Paignton. Lovely clean warm room & friendly staff. My only complaint is the price, the £35 a night rooms are almost none existent now as opposed to a few years ago & I do think for the price, a couple of bottles of water should be standard.

I love this ‘add a fancy chair and it’s a completely different room class’ idea. I still would choose Premier Inn because the breakfast is a bit rubbish usually. But, a nice room overall.

Great review as always. Just want to mention though that the fridge would be ideal for me as I normally stay in Premier Inns with my son for swimming galas and sometimes I have to carry a lot of chilled food. Normally I take a coolbox but a fridge would be a welcome addidtion for me. Sadly though Premier Inns don't offer family premier plus rooms - wish they would.

Hmm never stayed in PI ...there have been occasions when I needed to book a room but went with some good independents. I did wonder what the difference was with the plus and whether whether it was worth it. Thankyou Tim you have answered my question. If I want a little bit of luxury I ll go for the plus otherwise I could settle for the normal rooms.
@Dean2562 жыл бұрын
I stopped in a plus room in your neck of the woods in Great Yarmouth (only because it was the only room available) and I have to be honest I was rather disappointed apart from the coffee machine I didn’t see what the difference was anyway. Yes you get the extras in the bathroom but I take my own anyway so didn’t use them. Personally I think they need to include a smart TV they include free WiFi in them rooms so if they had a smart TV then I think it’s worth it. The lady on the reception asked me what I thought of it and I told her my feelings and she did say that by having a plus room you are guaranteed a sea view. Living in skegness that is not a big deal to me I can see the sea any day but if you live inland and want to see the sea when you wake up then that is a big plus. Great Review Tim. Oh and by the way there should have been two bottles of water in the fridge. One Spring and one Sparkling.

I always like my Premier Inns main reason being the bed and they provide a bath which I like. So glad you showed us the new rooms but I think I would decline not much better and no bath.

I love Premier Inns, I've spent more than a year of my life staying in them. (Including last night!) I've even bought one of their Hypnos beds for my home. But to me, a bath is an absolute essential. If I had booked a "superior" room, and it had only a shower, I would have gone ballistic.

You always know what you’re getting with a premier inn. With the exception of the odd, easily rectified problem, I’ve never had any issues - the beds as you say are very comfortable, the rooms are usually very clean and the staff are usually very good. I would personally choose premier inn over Travelodge as they can be a bit hit and miss although they shouldn’t be completely ruled out as I’ve stayed in plenty of good Travelodge hotels. I’ve had it before when I’ve stayed somewhere awful which completely ruined the holiday so having the guarantee that premier inn can give of being generally very good, is very much worth it even if you pay a bit more.
