Whats sad is there are so many families that class that as a holiday not because they enjoy it but because its what they can afford i feel so sorry for the children and the single mums who have to convince themselves that this is a holiday

First year we came to UK We've been to Pontin Camber Sand and I was shocked. We couldnt really enjoyed but we couldn't expect more for the price we paid. I watched more videos about Pontin and found out they are all the same, so we tried again the next time Prestatyn but fully prepared like moving in. Brought all bedding and airbed, all cooking stuff and first thing before the family got inside I did clean the room as clean as possible, it took time but we did have fun. We made good memories and we will do again this year will try Southport.

I used to have to suffer pontins camber sands every year as my daughters done majorettes. I also got sick several times whilst there. We found a decomposed rat in the sofa bed. Used nappies. A cooker that gave you electric shocks. Beds covered in all sorts. Hairs, nails, fluff, dust, mouldy food. I put myself through all that for the love of my children's hobby. 😢 Thank god they have now grown up and no longer do majorettes 😂😂 hope you feel better now 🙏

Hi Callum, I had my first job at Pontins Camber in 1980 as a 14 year old. I spent my weekends in camber with a school friend that lived there. Back then the place was pretty good and completely full every week. We spent Saturday mornings as luggage porters with a barrow. It was unpaid but we made good money with tips and found which 'Chalet' the cute girls were in. In the evenings from 7 till midnight we were 'Baby Listeners'. It will sound strange to modern ears but people left their kids in the 'Chalet' to go on the piss in the Ballroom and watch the caberet. If we heard a baby cry on our patrol around the camp we would then have to go to the bar where either side of the stage was a blackboard with a sign saying 'Baby crying chalet number' , underneath which we would have to chalk in the appropriate chalet number. £7 a night, Fri, Sat, Sun, £21 plus a tenners worth of tips I was on a good thing. Also in those days people washed their clothes and hung them on washing lines stretched between the backs of the chalets. They would bring all their best gear down from London and as I was legitimately wandering around the camp at midnight I aquired the smartest wardrobe of any 14 year old in Hastings. By some quirk of fate I found myself working there a couple years ago repairing the dilapidated and dangerous balconies. It was then that I discovered , like you, the Gulag it has become.

I’ve stayed at a pontins in Brean Sands near Weston Supermare and I felt like I was in a concentration camp. People were drinking at 9 am and kids were left running around the park like wild animals. The plays parks are like death traps, with the swings basically one push off falling down. Hasn’t changed much since I went and that was over 10 years ago, and this one looks just as bad. I think they were built from old army base camps, but clearly they haven’t updated them since then!

A few years ago, I was laughing about a video where someone was cooking a ready meal when they were depressed. I finally found that video!! The funniest bit of the video was when he was saying about how it sounds like the kids are in his apartment. The night sleep he had though at Pontins was really funny as he went to sleep to Rhythm Is A Dancer on Heart FM but then not long after, he woke up to No Letting Go but it was half past 1. He felt a little bit weird when he woke up to this but he went back to sleep to Fly By which made him feel like he liked the bit where it said " What a night so far, pulling up curb side in your car. What a night so far, think I know somewhere we can park" but then he woke up again at 3:40 which didn't feel that long to Chasing Cars. He was just lying there emotional about his stay at Pontins but then he fell back asleep and woke up properly at 6:27 to Calm Down. He felt a bit emotional now thinking back to Chasing Cars in the middle of the night and irritated and upset when he looked at the songs that played whilst he was asleep like High Hopes, Feel, No One, Set Fire To The Rain, Viva la Vida, Made You Look, Return Of The Mack, Let You Love Me, Forget Me, All Of Me which made him feel sick slightly, Poker Face, I Gotta Feeling, Karma, Shotgun, Together Again, Yeah, Remember, Rude Boy, Locked Out Of Heaven, La La La and just these songs but he felt so irritated and sick whilst looking at it and more when he saw the songs that had played before the Chasing Cars thing like Spotlight, S&M, Best Thing I Never Had, Grenade, On The Floor, Feel It Still, When Love Takes Over, Iris, Shackles and Budapest. Then he remembered about No Letting Go and how he woke up to that but forgot about it but it made him feel so weird about Fly By now but he was listening to it all day on the bus. When he looked at the songs that played before that bit like Apologize, Boogie2Nite, Meet Me Halfway, I Want It That Way, Call On Me, Tik Tok, Afraid To Feel and Bad Habits, he felt so poorly, he had to retch which is why he was being sick all night. He felt even worse when he thought about Chasing Cars and everything but he knew he had to go to sleep. On Heart, he went to sleep at the Air BNB to Dilemma, Let Me Love You and Troublemaker. Then he woke up in the morning to A Million Dreams which he got really upset about but he went back to sleep for a little while and had funny dreams about Lenny doing a funny thing in the garden but when he woke up later at 6:53 to Can't Fight The Moonlight, he felt happy after that dream but emotional like he wanted to cry when he thought back to A Million Dreams because of how early it was at 5: 15. Then when he looked back at the playlist before A Million Dreams, he felt emotional and sick again when he saw Wild Ones, Nothing On You, Only Girl In The World, This Love, Umbrella, Get Lucky, Beautiful People, Wake Me Up, Your Song, Where Is The Love and Finally. Then he remembered that he woke up to Viva la Vida at 01:17 which made him feel sick even though when he did wake up to it, it made him feel emotional about Pontins and how long ago it felt but A Million Dreams was horrible.

"But it's just a base!" "A holiday is what you make of it" "Just take along some cleaning items and you'll be fine" Yeah. Right. This video vaguely sums up my experience with Pontins, Camber Sands, except that we left by ambulance after the hearty wafts of bleach-covered-vomit in the room set off my Mum's arrhythmia really badly. I watched it when it came out and love that he's had to change the 28 days later theme for some youtube library music at 39:07 😂

My sister in law worked there many years ago and she used to find rats in the rooms and under the structures and when she complained they used to tell het to leave those rooms and clean another one. She was let go eventually when she found a seagull in one of the rooms and again complained to the management but she was put into the bar area for a couple of days and then let go because they said they were fully staffed. Terrible place and should have been knocked down years ago.

I was sitting here heaving at that chalet yuk! Top tip. Get yourself a turkish towel off of Amazon. Really cheap and dries really quick. You can use it as a towel or beach towel, but when I visited my son in New Zealand I put it on every pillow I used in the places I stayed. It has lasted years and it gets washed and rolled back into my backpack x
