Nice one Jose and a problem we have all had at one time or another. I think what confuses people is that they have to engage " borderless " in their driver when they want a print which HAS an even border lol. It kind of seems contradictory but thats the way it is 🙂👍

Thanks Jose.. Glad to have found your channel.. Don't know if you still check these questions on this old post but I am SO frustrated. Just got the Canon Pro2100 and it has the same problem.. And there's no borderless button to help.. If you know about a solution for this printer please help.. Or anyone else.. I am preparing a gallery show so I am pretty lost.. Happened on A3+ and also on 17-22 papers...

Borderless is only available for Standard Paper Sizes. Double check to see. I definitely have that option on my PRO1000 and so should you. Single cut sheets. Not roll printing.

@@cheo1949 Thanks for writing.. Well on my A3+ paper borderless is not available.. Single cut and the Pro 2100 support all these paper sizes so very frustrating this error persists.. I am now making tests where I push my image on the psd file to have it align on the print.. Unreal at this pricepoint this is not working ok.. Just amazing Canon..

The borders still do not match. I set everything up just as you instructed, choosing borderless, not checking the box scale to fit. The image LOOKED centered in the preview screen, the margins LOOKED even on all sides, but when it printed the borders did not match! This is driving me NUTS.

Enhorabuena por todo, José. llevo unos pocos días con una 100S y estoy muy satisfecho de su rendimiento. Lamentablemente no puedo optar por usar las tintas que nos recomiendas pues vivo en España. He hecho lo que tú indicas en el vídeo para igualar los márgenes pero no lo consigo. En la vista antes de imprimir salen los márgenes perfectamente igualados, pero al darle a imprimir ya en la vista previa me salen diferentes y en la impresión lo mismo. ¿Algo que me puedas comentar? Seguro que hay algo que se me escapa, lo cual es fácil ya que no hablo ingés y utilizo los subtítulos con la traducción automática activada; aún así, todos tus vídeos me son de mucha utilidad. Hi Jose! I'm printing art prints on my new Canon Pro-1000, and I am having a similar issue where my image is printed off centered and it seems to be scaled a little larger than it's supposed to be. I am printing from Photoshop just a simple 8.5x11 image on a 8.5x11 paper (which I set it as borderless 8.5x11 on the print settings). The preview displays it perfectly scaled to fit a letter size paper, and is centered but when it prints the image gets a little cut off and seems like it is scaled slightly larger than the size I set it to. This is driving me nuts, so I was wondering if you had any solution to this issue. Thank you!

Borderless ALWAYS expands the image so it is insured to not end up with thin borders. Paper positioning is NOT absolutely accurate. Thus the need to incorporate image expansion. Read the driver warning when you choose Borderless.

For me even when i do this the borders are still not completely even however when i measure the margins i get after i print and adjust them by a fraction for the next print i can get them perfectly even. This works well for some third party paper that i have but when i use epson ultra glossy paper(exact same size only but thicker paper) they are uneven again and slightly skewed on top of that. This is really frustrating and seems to be more of a feeding issue where it doesnt go straight through the printer. I have an epson et 8550.

Great video; had some hope, but from what I've found is Epson printers (both XP-15000 and ET-8550) don't seem to honor any cell size or margin in Lightroom. If you select borderless in the driver, it ignores any margins or cell sizing that you specify and prints the image borderless (even if you have retain sizing specified in the driver). It's weird that it works that way. I still can't get a centered print without a lot of math, and can't use the borderless setting. I still feel like it's an unsolved problem from my perspective.

I’m finding the same thing with the 8500. It seems absurd to me that this isn’t a basic driver feature at this point, especially for such expensive printers. I’ve got a ticket in with Epson. If they tell me anything worthwhile I will update here.

Sure. That is a Proprietary requirement for Fine Art Setting on CANON Printers.

Jose I am having problem if I take "zoom to fit" off and then put a border on borderless print say on top it will give border on side as well, I don't understand why.

what do you mean put on a border. I am only talking about Non Printable Minimum MARGINS that are part of the requirements by the drivers. The fact that the top and bottom ones are unequal IS what causes non centered prints when you think they should be. I Lightroom you can create a CELL and place ANYWHERE on that "PAGE" and then drop the image in it and either zoom to fill or not. Either way it will be centered as long as you created the cell the proper dimensions. There are dozens of LAYOUT settings one can use.

@@cheo1949 I got the answer from one of your previous videos "How to perfectly center and print an image onto a given paper size!" and you use cell size to create border but I was using "margin" to create border. I hope this will resolve my issue to use cell size rather-then margins and I am talking about only LR. Can you explain one more time if paper size is not what is normal paper size (say 9X7 inches, I know it is weird size but it just came in my mind) in that case we can't get borderless so how can deal with that.

Every time I fix something on my Pro-100, another problem comes up. First Magenta tint, than banding, now off-centered. A joke. 2 months in now...On mine my trailing edge is narrower?!

Wow. I guess you are refilling? You did not say. Leading and trailing minimum margins are never the same. That is built into the drivers.

@@cheo1949 Tx for replying Jose,. My workflow is Capture one pro/affinity/qimage. I am still don't quite understand the print dialogs in all of those. In the beginning, the magenta tint was the classic driver/colorsync problem. I just got the printer 2 months ago, so Im totally new to printing. Anyway, that took me a week to figure out. The last owner gave me some ink , it turned out that it caused the banding. So, that was solved by buying Canon cartridges. Now, I can't quite figure out why i started having off center problems. I figured it out last night, its a software issue. I don't find find Qimage easy to use, and haven't resolved off-center problem yet. I printed with affinity and it finally worked out. Man, thank you for being around, because you are of great help.
