Honestly if I was a Mavs fan I'm not sure if I'd be happy if the team won just one ring. Maybe I'm underestimating how great winning a ring is, but I'd rather have Luka on the team for next decade without winning a ring than one ring with AD and Kyrie, but like I said I might be underestimating how great it is when your team wins.

This trade ruined the NBA to me. Before this trade, there was some plausible deniability that the league was organic and things happened naturally. Now, I think you have to be naive to believe there isn’t a conspiracy at the highest levels to rig or manipulate team rosters. They played their hand too obviously. This “secret” move by the Mavs is beyond gross negligence or malpractice. It was clearly intentional, and someone benefited under the table by this move. A GM can’t possibly be elevated to a position of making a 7 figure salary doing one of the most high profile jobs in the world, and not understand basic negotiating 101. There were teams that would have easily offered minimum 6 first round picks, possibly more for Luka. Easily. There is no purpose to not get the best return possible. No reasonable person would ever do this trade.

You underestimate how unqualified a lot of GMs and guys in high positions are in sports. Just look at the Kings front office for 2 decades, or the Bulls current front office.
