9:20 Yeah people don't know you cannot force your opponent to pick a legal target, that's because targeting a card is not a cost, it's an activation requirement, meaning that if you pick an invalid target, the activation itself is illegal, that's different from paying a cost for an effect (and that's why some judges get pissed when someone says targeting is a cost). It's like when someone declares a Link Summon and Links a monster that they cannot legaly make, you don't say to your opponent "but you already declared a Link Summon, link summon a legal monster.", right? Well, is the same principle as targeting cards for activation requirements. The reason why people think you're forced to pick a target is because of automated simulators where you're force to always pick a valid target. That and many other reasons are why automatic simulators shouldn't be taken seriously for rulings, or at least being taken with a grain of salt.

I’m not quite sure that I understand with the comparison you’re using as auto sims already hide illegal targets for Xyz, Syncro and Link summons based on the current game state during the duel. I have little experience playing the game outside an auto sim, so sorry for my confusion.

Isn’t cost and activation requirement the same thing? Activation requirement is just the proper way to say “cost”. Also this is the only issue with simulators. Other than this simulators are a really good way to learn rulings. (Assuming they have the correct rulings)

​@@DimkaSulegnaa [I dont actually know the ruling I am just translating the original comment] Auto sims let you fulfil the picking requirement before you summon, so it stops most messes with "illegal summons" since it just isn't possible. But with targeting for cards it only lets you pick after you already "activate" (you technically haven't until you picked a zone since they are both meant to be done simultaneously) which is technically incorrect and should be the same as the summoning. The point the original comment was making is that in manual sims most people know that if someone does an illegal summon they have to revert the summon completely since auto sims basically stop anyone from doing that. But with targeting for cards auto sims do a weird thing where they add an extra ruling where the player is forced to choose any valid target if the original target isn't valid, which is technically not part of the rules (at least for cards that don't use targeting as a effect). It should work like summoning where you are forced to revert.

So a card like ''Tri-Brigade Revolt'' that has the text that you described: You can respond to the spell trap activation/Monster effect activation like normal, on chain. Then AFTER it has fully resolved, the ''immediately after this effect resolves'' goes, but this is NOT part of the chain. In the case of Revolt, Revolt special summons cards from the gy, then after that part has resolved, you perform a normal link summon, at which point it can be responded to with Solemn Strike. If this part was all the same effect, you could not Solemn Strike it for example, because you respond to the trap activation, which Solemn Judgment and Warning deal with. Hope it helps

On turn 2 while I have Destroyer Phoenix Enforcer on the field, I active Break the Destiny during my opponents draw/standby phase to destroy DPE to skip my opponent’s Main Phase 1. Does my opponent have to go straight to Main Phase 2 or do they just lose their whole turn since they can’t go into the battle phase??

i had a game in locals where at the start of the game, we had to cut of decks, he picked up my deck and shuffled it which is normally fine, but the way he picked it up and shuffled it (which having the angle of the cards pointing towards him), while looking at the deck made it seemed he was actually looking at my cards at the bottom of my deck. Would this be considered cheating in a real tournaments?

Yes. Dark Requiem doesn't say that it can summon itself using Dark Rebellion, so you have to use another effect to bring him out.
