As you saw in yesterday's video, I picked up a killer deal on a 1988 Foxbody Mustang GT that is in fantastic condition! This Foxbody Mustang has truly become my all time favorite car and I cannot wait to see how this thing is going to transform over the next year or two! Heads, Cam, FBO, Lowered and the list goes on! I'd like to say I practically stole this 1988 Foxbody Mustang at the price I paid for it considering it's condition, mileage and owner history!

We had a clean 89, very similar for 10k I'm in the Silicon Valley, home of psycho prices. What a great deal bro. You're stoked. Right place, right time. A year ago, a dealer put up a 94 3rd generation RX7, 32K MILES for 18 grand!!!! I called within 5 minutes and was also 2nd. 1st guy won. I was bummed. Those go for 50 g!! Lolz. Glad you pulled it. Great find! On a black car, the only thing I would do is have it professionally paint corrected and ceramic coated. Find the best detailer in town to do it, it will be costly, but you will not regret it.

That is a smoking deal. FYI that is a speed density car so you can't just go swapping any cam into it. Some handle it fine some don't. More then likely it will hurt power if you do. If you need help let me know been building these car for 20 years. And live in midlo.

I like the Saleen rear wing on the hatches. I would also cut those tailpipes off where they would be tucked under the bumper. Beautiful car, very rare find these days. Congrats on the new ride man!!

I had an 89,90,92,93,and a 85, but my 89 coupe was my favorite wish I still had it. 88's are speed density cars so b4 you cam it you need to switch it to Mass Air if it hasn't been done already. If not the ecm will go hay wire and try to fix the idle. Looking forward to the build. Need any info on these cars feel free to ask.

Derek, I had a similar sunroof and I believe it is removable. You should be able to pull the little gray caps on the forward hinges and then grip the two black buttons on the handle which disconnects the locking mechanism and the roof should come right out. It looks like the one I had so give it a try….pretty sure you’ll be digging the open air option.

Hey congrats!! mine's an 88 GT that I bought off a guy I work with.... he had it stored for 19 years and basically I drained the gas put new gas in it put a new battery in it turned the key and it fired right up..... Fox Mustangs are insanely reliable...5.0 for life!

If you’re gonna do some heavy motor work, look into doing a mass air flow conversion. The speed density will hold you back.

Wow! You got that for a steal brother! I have seen lesser mid 80's Mustang GT's go for way more. Glad to see you added it to your garage. A little advice from a person who was in high school when those cars were rocking the streets. Make sure you keep the mass air sensor nice and clean to avoid any weird idle issues that can develop in those mustangs.

Just finished a 5lug conversion on my 91 foxbody... It is awesome now but it was a job! The spindles are tricky to find. You have to get them off of a 94-95 mustang. Then you pretty much have to replace everything else under the wheel well. But so worth it in my opinion! I would love to see a 5 lug swap on the channel DBP style.

Just a suggestion convert the drum breaks to the sn95 rear brakes and go ahead and get the 5 lug axles so like you said you'll have more wheel options. LMR sales the conversion kit if I'm not mistaken. But nice fox man.

I love your car, Derek. I think you got a solid deal on that one, considering what great shape it's in! Those lines on it were sharp and the paint and interior look great. I don't have any problem with the aftermarket sunroof... I always wanted one in mine. The foxes may not have all the power potential of the newer ones (outside of a swap or boring out the motor) but they are FUN. I'm down in Chesterfield and mine's a HCI 87 GT, black like yours... although the paint and body is not on that level. Mine looks decent compared to a lot of them, but could stand a paint job and some body kit pieces. I've got the Flowmaster Super 40s... sounds like you have the same to me. 87-93 Mustangs and Flowmasters are a match made in heaven. Hope to see you cruising around town in your new ride. I will say I'm not a huge fan of the Cobra wheels on a GT, although they don't look bad. I just prefer the polished Pony wheels. Of course, anythings better than the 'turbine' wheels yours and mine came with from the factory. LOL. I look forward to the content from this car.

As much as the LX is the lighter one, I don't think you can beat a 1987-1993 Mustang GT Hatchback. It's just the ultimate do-all Mustang in my book. It's not super fast but it's a V8, and with a good cam you're having a good 'ole time. I'm jealous DBP.

I commented about my dad's foxbody last video, but i want to be more specific. It is very similar to the one you just got, hatchback, gt, same tailights, aftermarket exhaust, same cobra style wheels, expect his is blue with a white racing stripe and lowered. not nearly in as good condition though. we both love foxbodys and i love your videos being a ford guy

Wow you did get lucky with that price. I am a big fan of keeping Foxbodies stock or mostly stock. 5 lug makes sense and would love to do that some day to my 90 black LX 5.0 hatch with 54,000 original miles only mods are flowmasters and BBK shorty headers. Very nice Fox man only 2 things I suggest doing and this is my car ocd coming out, I would move your fender 5.0 badges to the proper factory position(download LMR’s template) and put the factory Ford emblem back on the hatch. Looks like the front “grille” Ford emblem was replaced with a flushed piece. Again great find and you did get lucky at $8,500. Have to wonder why the car was so cheap given the market of these Foxes, maybe the owner did not know what he had 🤔. Enjoy man!
