well its all fine and dandy for starting channels but youre going to notice some negative side affects of doing this with a bigger channel, like you tricking your subs into clicking a video they've already seen. this happens to me all the time when i find cool small channels i watch and its annoying i wont lie. sure youre going to get some more legit view time, but more times than not youll get a click then skip and thats it..... theyve already seen the vid

It's cool watching this knowing that when we met a few months ago you were in the middle of this discovery and said, "Yeah, I think I'm figuring out that my face isn't actually getting as good a click through rate." What he's saying is actually true. Believe or not yes you can grow on KZbin without uploading consistently. I know this because this has happened to me. Whenever I made daily videos at one point I didn't grow much, but as soon as I took a break, I grew in subscribers daily. So never ever be afraid to take a break. Your audience will understand.

This has just started happening to me, same exact results! Tripled my returning viewers by improving quality by impacting viewer’s emotions 😇 What I’ve noticed is that about 12 hours after I post, I randomly see an unnatural spike in my views per hour, which happens due to my watch time.

Ironically enough, the most growth I've seen on my channel has been within the past few months when I haven't posted a thing. I've had to take a break to focus on university, but during that time I've almost doubled my subscribers (from about 50 to 100). I had a similar experience. I was posting weekly from Jan to August 2023 and it was both exhausting and not working. I stepped away to do other projects and surprisingly, my channel still got over 1k views every month with me doing absolutely nothing. People generally liked my videos (especially my energy and social mission), but I wasn't making them as tight and satisfying as I could so I was losing a lot of long-term interest. Taking the break gave me a lot of new ideas and perspective. I'm definitely going to try again in 2023.

I've definitely seen some videos get a second chance at life after a thumbnail and/or title change, and on rare occasions, after no change at all! I can definitely vouch for this. There is even a video of mine that was the absolute first to cover a topic and I've had to update my thumbnail to stay relevant as competition grows in the relevant search results pages.

Something I did recently which I think helped the look of my channel was go go back over all my old thumbnails and redesign them from the group up and add a consistent feature across all of them to make them easily identifiable as from my channel. Can think of a few big creators that do this too like philip de franco, Joe Scott and Tom scott.

Gotta admit theres work to be done on thumbnails. But if youre starting out, I think its a good idea to stick to a posting schedule for some time to get used to the workflow, and putting our mugs in front of the camera just to build some camera confidence. Many of us has struggled w analysis paralysis in the beginning, not getting any vids done. Im hustling 2 vids pr week atm, and some of them I quite like, but to me its better to get used to editing, being on camera, workflow and all those gazillion other small things you never thought would be a challenge when you start on youtube. *phew*. Fun though :) Ill have this tip in mind for the future, itll theyll revive my old vids as well. Anyways! Love your content, and tips. Very entertaining, very useful!

I've done this so many times where I've redone all of my thumbnails on my channel once I discovered a new format the worked better. Another suggestion is putting in something that is common like a color or something that when people see your thumbnail they immediately know it's from you even if they don't read the title or name.

For the longest time, my CTR plateaud at 6%. But after i spent 2 weekends improving my thumbnails and titles, everything jumped to 8% instantly and keeps on rising since then. The hard part was choosing which of my videos to improve first. I had the clever idea of downloading my CTR report for all 93 videos and sorting them from lowest to highest CTR in the last 28 days. Then i began improving the ones with 2% or below -- because according to YT, 2-10% CTR is healthy. Then i moved on to update the ones in the 2-6% range. Then finally the remaining 7% CTR and above. Today i dont have any videos performing less than 6% and even have a handful with 14% or more CTR.

OK, I like it. I get it. In theory. BUT, what if a lot of your content only has its highest value for a limited period of time? Like, I review phones. New phone reviews seem to have a limited shelf life. How would you approach this?

I'd argue the same thing can be said for majority of "growing your channel" youtube advice, though. KZbin is constantly changing it's algorithm, which also means users have to also constantly be changing their methodology. So maybe treat your videos like they have "infinite" shelf life, and do things to get them attention regardless of their relevancy?

There’s always people buying old used devices and want to watch reviews of them. Try changing your title and thumbnail in favor of those people, as they are the most interested now

YES!! Motivation overdrive! I did this before and saw some results then stupidly just stopped (complaisant/lazy maybe?) what ever it was your video has motivated me to get back to these little things that can make a big difference after you have learnt and grown. I was a graphic designer for 10 years, so I know my software but I stopped for almost 5 years, jumped into YT and thought, “its fine I know design” but design and what people want have changed as I was no longer doing multiple designs a day and keeping up with trends etc. Arrogance, and self delusion can really hold you back. I have learned, a little, on here so far about what is working better for me and my audience but, have not went back and implemented this knew found knowledge into older videos that I still think are useful and helpful. I cannot change the quality of the video itself (though I believe this has improved over time [more confident on camera, starting to script rather than wing it etc]) but I can make it more engaging and more true to the message I want to put out there through the thumbnails and titles. Its time to start re-working some of these bit by bit...and even if nothing changes with views etc, as you say it is more practice and more knowledge! BTW love your videos and style, I don’t always comment but always watch :)
