What spoke to me most off the bat was his mindset of knowing he wasn't the first, or only person making his type of content, he simply found a way to make his content stand out and resonate with people. Same info, new point of view or style or presentation. Boom, success.

Great video Ed. I have been binging your videos and learning great stuff. My ending retention for my last three videos has been so flat since learning your tips for ending a video. Thanks for all the information. After watching so much of your stuff I was shocked when I saw a screen shot from one of my videos at 11:38. Thanks again for the valuable information.

I experienced massive KZbin growth the past 3 years and dived into everything I could possibly learn. Think Media, Graham Stephan, Ali Abdaal, Colin & Samir…anyone who had deep creator content, I was consuming and applying. So much so, my audience asked me to make a KZbin course for them. What you just gave here is the best advice I’ve heard for new and seasoned KZbinrs. Those dips, watch time staying stagnant, the internal questions we ask ourselves about thumbnails and not providing enough detail while being entertaining. I’ve felt all of this and I appreciate you recognizing those emotions and asking Josh about it too. Having strong opinions, telling stories, generating excitement, providing proof and trust is what propelled my growth before. Thank you for the recalibration. 🦆🦆🦆

Not a big fan of the misleading clickbait thumbnails Joshua Mayo puts out there. He's telling people you can make $900 a day on which is complete nonsense. Its similar to the other fake guru financial channels like that hurt more than help people

Is possible to make legally 1.200 $ per day. 🙂
@herewegoagain777
@herewegoagain777 Жыл бұрын
Agreed! So basically he stopped making good content, videos that could help people and provide better financial literacy, and he instead focused on predatory clickbait that promises desperate people they could get rich by watching his video? Cool. I don't see how this is something on KZbin that should be celebrated. The message is ignore your values and focus on clicks, regardless of the content.
@hannibalishungry
@hannibalishungry Жыл бұрын
@@happymiro of course it’s possible but the reason his vidoes take off is because he’s making false promises of making tons of money EASY and without any experience. Which is total bs And notice he doesn’t have any receipts on that viral video. Who’s making $900 a day with those side hustles. The only way Joshua makes $900 a day is through google adsense

Thank you for offering a free film school. Your output is priceless. Anyone can learn and grow in short order by watching and paying attention to what you share. You have taught me to learn a craft and to be absolutely purposeful about what I create. I started out thinking that a one-minute video could be cranked out quickly. Not possible if done properly. There should be no, "well that'll do..." attitude. From concept, research, preparing scripts, through shooting, editing and on and on ... no output should be just good enough. Even after a happy upload we still need to review and continue learning. Again, thank you! You deserve every farthing you collect!

Actually top dog of KZbin improvement channels. Always valuable information that delivers on the big titles and also keeps it entertaining :). Also that community post advertising this upcoming video with a "deepdive on a viral video" definitely made me more inclined to click on this when it popped up in recommended (if you were wondering). Great way to hype content up and provide extra context that you can't fit in a clickable KZbin title.

Ed, as always, incredible content. I tell everyone about you and your breakdown you just explained is exactly how I feel about your channel. I was burned by so many BS growth channels on KZbin spilling the same old slosh of regurgitated info until I happened upon your channel last august when I started working to regrow my KZbin channel. Everything you say is good and I 100% trust your advice. I work a lot so what I’ve done is attempted to make a lot of content to release on a schedule starting in 2 weeks and have about 6 months worth so far. I’m an entertainment channel so it always take a bit of finagling to make your education advice fit that but it still does, same sorts of retention just in an entertainment way. I made a lot of mistakes uploading from 2010-2016 but I’m coming back full force and won’t let my subs or unknown audience down thanks to you!

Standing out is very important, I got one comment on a video that said that my video was unlike any of its kind and even if it’s not what anyone would call a universally “high viewed” video, it got really good views and the comment itself has motivated me to keep making more and maintaining a certain level of quality. And while I just don’t personally believe what financial gurus say because the catch (basically the explanation) is always the same, it’s painted easy but in reality it’s hard and time consuming, but OF COURSE IT IS. If money was easy to make everyone would have tons of it. Being real and explaining and GIVING VALUE is what I respect about any KZbinrs video so definitely think that Joshua is doing the right thing. It may not always keep retention, but it definitely (to me) keeps respect.

Simply amazing video. This was something that constantly bothered me. I thought I had a great idea, and then I saw that there were already videos about the same topic, as expected, but that is how it goes, there will more often than not a video somewhere that tacked the topic you want to make a video on. I still have a very small channel, but I am growing and very hyped to see the community and engagement growing. Two weeks ago I had 63 subs, today I reached 101 and over 500 hours watched in the last 2 weeks.

Much like you, if I see someone else has made a video on something I had an idea about, I'm instantly put off, because I feel like I'll just be copying. then when I see someone else do a video I made first I feel like they copied. More and more I'm learning that it is a mindset I need to shift, and make content for MY audience, with MY perspective. Just because someone else made a video about X it doesn't mean everyone saw it, and you making it brings it to a wider audience. Hey, best of luck with your channel! Take care. :)
