I like it. I like the way engines sound when pulling at lower to mid range rpm. I think full, true straight pipes allow for a very nice low to mid range rpm tone

Keep it!!! I been daily driving a straight piped mk5 since August. Can’t get over the pops and crackles. And the loudness, you’ll get used to it in my opinion, I thought it was Soooooo loud at first but now I don’t even consider my car THAT loud, parents still think it’s too loud tho 🤣

My MK5 has a 3"straight downpipe with no cat, 3"" pipe to a Magnaflow muffler 3"" in and out, to an oval tip. Looks nice and sounds pretty loud imo, but the crakles and pops are where it's at.

See I have a 3” non catted downpipe that goes to a AWE Tuning 2.5” catback and I think that was my downfall. I should’ve did 3” all the way back. I have crackles and pops at low RPMs but if I had the 3” like you I’d prob experience a lot more! I’m jealous hahah I should’ve done that. Maybe that’ll Magnaflow will be my next purchase If I don’t upgrade to the S3. Do you remember by chance that price of your magnaflow catback?

Sounds good with and w/o the muffler. I will say though you might get tired of driving w/o the muffler after awhile, especially if it’s your daily. Y’all should get an old school muscle car or truck for the project, that would be cool and simple to work on.

I have a Audi A3 Sportback S-line and I will do a resonator delete and a Borla muffler. My brothers stage 2 MK7 has this set up and it sounds nice with his CTS downpipe. I am not ready for the downpipe quite yet but will be doing that with a tune and a K04. I already did a metal Graf waterpump, R8 coils,Rs7 plugs, O2 sensors, PCV system, petronas DSG fluid , and Liqui-Moly oil. Love the 2.0t.

First thing I’d do is get rid of the muffler. Wether you get a catback system with a smaller muffler or you cut the stock muffler off and run pipe out the back. Or you can even replace the stock muffler with a smaller one. There’s a couple ways to really go about getting the car louder

Well diesel doesn’t get much loud except its a 6 cilinder. Then, the sound gets more interesting. But in order to get a better sound straight pipe it.

Maintainence is key. They are built to be driven and driven hard. I'm finding random stuff expiring now. 06 FSI. Like my seat belt doesn't like to release anymore. Headliner needs replaced. Mechanically they are awesome. Pretty great to work on. Most major "consumables" are so easy to replace.

Do you have a downpipe? I highly suggest getting a uncatted or high flow catted downpipe. This will increase some noise and power. But if you want the most noise out of your car I’d pair a downpipe with a straight pipe yeah

I have a mk5 fsi with just a resonator delete, they just dont sound as good as the 20v 1.8t in my opinion. I used to have a mk4 with k04 stage 2 with 3" catless down pipe to 2.5 inch resonated catback, that sounded goooood.

@@RatchetWrenches Yea man that was a great car it was an 05 recaro interior 6 speed gearbox, I put a brand new OEM k04 in it only to sell it a few months later. I do love my mk5 though I tend to buy and sell cars a lot but I can live with this one for a while. I've got winter/summer wheel setups, roof racks, a trailer hitch for bikes.. very versatile little car.

No problem! Yeah I did a lot of research and +35 offset is the way to go but definitely invest in 215s I made that mistake of going the stock measurements. But then again like you said you might not be as low so you should be fine either way! But best of luck with your purchase!

Yeah As long as you’re going from the cat back. If you have a stock downpipe and you want to remove that you have to get a certain flange that bolts up to the turbo. In this video I have a downpipe with a high flow cat which is basically straight piped. Then I connected a few exhaust pipes to exit the rear of the car using bends

Automatic... Ewww. Mine sounds nastier and dirty AF. 6 speed. Crackles for days. I call it the Ol' Girgly Girl these days

Solis Druid nice! Yeah I needed a reliable daily, I worked for vw for a while and quite honestly I hate replacing clutches so I went dsg. But yeah I bet the crackles sound amazing!

Would you rather have an awkward moment, smile and maybe a snicker? Or a larger smile and good laugh? Hearing a short, quick and muffled old lady getting up from a bench fart. Or a healthy and hefty organ rearranging, internal atmosphere regulating, trumpet from the gods?

@@solisdruid8442 idk man...organ rearanging🤣...bruh that sounds nasty af...buh honestly speaking, i love manuals, i prefer them over auto any day...actually, i prefer it on all cars...except vw's...they just dont need it...the dsg farts sound amazing, it shifts a million times faster than manual, so its always going to be faster...plus when you look at a vw now, you get this techy, modern vibe so i think its just a match

@@terrelmaz8424 for me it's really having some form of direct control. Being in the snow belt area it doesn't matter the car. I would rather a standard any day. Yeah that auto might be faster on the 1/4. To me a auto trans, It's like aim assist. Just admit you are lazy or incapable of driving a car without help. It's ok. We all need help sometimes.
