I am almost 17 , and I am planning to study in Japan but I know very little japanese and that kind of scares me, Will I be able to communicate and get around or will I just get lost?

As someone who’s going to study abroad in Japan this fall, I would say even if you don’t know any Japanese, go for it anyways! It’s something you might regret later on if you don’t. You say you know very little but thats already a great start especially at your age. That’s the age I started learning Japanese myself. You’ll be able to learn more there and I’m sure there will be ppl that would be glad to help you. It is wonderful that you are considering to do something many ppl don’t do and let me be one of the ones to encourage you to go for it. Even if learning the language is not your focus, just imagine the great experiences you will get. It can be intimidating at first but you will definitely be able to get around with limited Japanese as this was my experience when I visited Japan my first time and I was alone. I was definitely scared myself for sure but I’m still glad I got to and now I will be studying there for a year so I am really taking the plunge and hope you decide too as well.

@@RaijinOG Thanks for the encouragement, I started learning Japanese again and currently trying to remember again the things I forgot. To be honest, language was the thing that set me off about going to Japan, not that I dont like japanese, I love the language I just quit learning because of information overload. I will start studying again and hope that I will go to Japan in the future

Jetlag was weird for me when coming to japan lol. It just changed my sleep schedule to make me wake up earlier than usual for the first couple of days.
