yeah. too bad no one is creating an OS to utilize their power. Android is land locked by it's own limitations, Apple is too controling, Microsoft only cares about desktop, Linux community is SO focused on "we are so open sourced that we can't standardize anything for normie users only developers can really utilize our OS properly" community involvement that they hinder their own production making adoption too slow thus actually good projects fall through. maybe, just maybe, valve is the only one smart enough to utilize ARM fully for gaming and VR capabilities while also having Linux developers piggy backing on those users brought to their platform/OS ecosystem.

this needs more recognition. having XR technology run natively without being tethered to a PC whilst still having top performance and fluidity for different experiences will be a game changer. I can see improved and powerful ARM-based CPUs being the future of this technology. (Don't forget, Apple has the powerful and efficient ARM-based "M" Series chips put in Macbooks and iPads.) All-in-all, we have the technology, we just need the focus on XR innovation.

@@zackhack_gamer2487 that's not it at all. We're talking about every headset being able to run to a PC without any physical wires connecting the two but still perform as if it were wired. That's the future. Standalone won't be anywhere near PC level for many years still if ever but making wireless perform as wired does now is the hope here.

@@zackhack_gamer2487 I agree with ya. PCVR is very powerful compared to stand-alone VR devices. 5:24 It's not just an ARM chip. It's and ARM chip that isn't even supported by both Microsoft and Qualcomm to run anything, but Android and it's still pretty impresive. Supported devices give even better performance, because they get all the up-to-date drivers and use chips made for Windows I think that Microsoft's emulation layer is actually good. You've been running it on a chip that is weaker than any chip designed to use with Windows made after 2019. And yet you managed to do game on this.

im very certain that once AR gets to the point it can replace your smartphone, it will. I imagine advertisers would love to *constantly* be able to show you ads, among other things. It's a hard topic to crack. There must be interest in pcvr from hardware and software developers. Sure, someone could just take an amd chip with decent rdna graphics and throw it into goggles with some fancy modified windows or linux with proton, but power constraints, heat distribution would be hard to overcome, and the headset itself might be too heavy. On the other hand, I think it's still better to have a decent laptop to run pcvr, but perhaps in the future we'll have a 3080 performance tablet/phone chip that justifies the usefulness of such an idea of running pcvr on it.
