Some advice: 1) Cut the front lip of the deck off as well as the baffle - then your blade has a better chance of contacting the taller weeds (watch yer feet!) 2) A chain tensioner and a chain guard would be a really REALLY good idea, unless you'd like a #50 chain imprint on your melon. With that aside, this is very cool...

thanks for the suggestion. So the blade only goes on one way, I'm thinking either the blade is shot, or the Briggs engine turns opposite of the original engine.

I'm seeing the tomato only getting slapped around by the blade,that's why it hung in there so long. That's also why what I had to drop my first thoughts of it going backwards, or being upside down. Upside down or backwards rotation would have cut te tomatoe quickly.

I learned the hard way to at a minimum use pliers to hold metal on a drill press. I had the tip of my finger lopped off down to the bone. I got lucky I didn't lose anything but meat.

Nice build... Looked like the blade rotation maybe going backwards, that could be why it doesn't look like the grass is being cut, but more ripped and pushed down... I once built a double bodied lawn mower, I used two decks welded side by side, that could be a good build for ya, using that same motor but with two decks.. I loved mine... Keep up the good work...

Are you absolutely certain that the blade was turning in the right direction in order to cut the grass looking at it from the bottom it looked to me like the blade was not turning in the proper direction and if that's the case it would be just knocking the grass down flat instead of cutting it that is something you might want to check into.

Turn the engine 180° and use the opposite input on the transfer box. The pull start will usually bolt on every 120° so you're not stood in front of it to start. So it won't chop your cock off.
