@@naahgol8608 not sure what you mean but to clarify, a luthier is someone who builds guitars. Traditionally luthiers actually make them from scratch, for example carving a block of wood to make the body of an acoustic guitar so that the reverb inside it sounds exactly how they need it to for a full and clear sound. This video isn’t technically showing him being a luthier since he sources parts and puts them together, but the passion and craftsmanship is still there, and he goes very in depth and detailed with the parts chosen and the how they are put together to create a specifically cohesive instrument for the user, so I wouldn’t count him out

Wasn't some super PC, but it's what I had left after an upgrade and I know he will likely not be able to afford an upgrade ever so I went to work on making him a nice PC MFer was using shit from the early 2010's. I wish I could have put more money in it, but alas something is far better than nothing. When it hits you that you want to pay it forward in life you feel you are making this world just a little bit less miserable. I try my best to live by this, I still remember being given a poster by a store worker when I was in middle school struggling with my father's alcoholism, the small acts of kindness will always live each others hearts. This is honestly one of most profound gifts I’ve seen given. Not just that he had his guitar stolen, which I understand that eternal heartache because my Taylor Kathy Mattea #89/100 was stolen in 1999 and to this day I am still heartbroken because of it but that you lovingly and meticulously planned out the build to his preferences and noted in your memory each thing he’d shared with you over the time you spent together. That you remembered all of that is a precious gift few ever really get to experience. To top it off you built it with your own two hands. I firmly believe this moment will be one of the great memories of his life, and you are a phenomenal friend. Truly. It’s so nice to see two men who share the same passion for music becoming close friends.

This video is such a gem. It would've already been enough to have bought the man a guitar as a token of gratitude, but you went the extra mile and built it yourself. There are so many little details in this build that show you understand your teacher's preferences both as a guitarist AND a person and I think that's what makes this so heartwarming and symbolic. Every little detail is meticulously planned to make it as perfect a fit as it can possibly be and that's just so sweet. It brought me so much joy watching his face light up when he received the gift, and how his excitement just kept building the more he played it. You did a great thing and I swear if anyone dares steal this like they did his last one (I know he sold the original Paisley, but you mentioned the one he was using after that was stolen) we're going to have to go full John Wick on them because this guitar is just too special and this man needs to be protected. Thank you so much for doing this dude

@@RobTai I just think some guitarists get really precious about their instruments and what they look for spec-wise (I'm one of them lol) so trying to keep it as accurate as possible to what you know he likes instead of maybe building what you would've wanted makes it all the more personal. I think that honestly makes the difference between "this is going to be the guitar I take to my grave" and "I'm not going to play this much but I'll hang it up because it's sentimental" and that's why I found it so touching. As for not being an experienced builder, you're probably grateful he's not a neck-thru guy, eh? hahah Cheers mate, thanks for the response!

universe works in amazing ways i randomly stumbled upon this video... ive returned to guitar for about a year and a half before that i didnt play for about 13 years!, my progress has been very good, im happy with it, but you inspired me and made me realize how much just getting lessons can do for you not just in learning but networking and meeting others that play guitar opposed to just jamming in your room by yourself ... i always think how could i ever find a band to play a bar gig if i wanted to?, this has helped me open my mind, thank you so much brother!!!

Great gift, great friendship. Did something similar a couple years ago with my Bands other guitarist and Bassist. Built them matching guitar and Bass as a Wedding gift. (they finally decided to marry after being together for 10 years) their faces and reaction made that gift well worth the planning, work and money spent on it.

Amazing gift, it must have been very satisfying to give him something that you spec’d out and built, and that he’ll have for the rest of his life. It sounds like you really helped him out in a tough time, and he sounds great on it.

12:40 the way he holds it like a baby is what got me. Glad to see those who deserve the world get a little slice of heaven.

Not just a gift or a guitar teacher, that's a core memory and friend for life. This is what life is supposed to be about.

I myself have a really strong bond with 2 of my guitar teachers and this was amazing to watch. There's people who inspire you beyond the usual student - teacher relationship, and it's something that must be honored. Not many like that out there.
