We invited all their friends. They had no idea. And we gave them a cruise. They were surprised more by our ability to pull off such a huge surprise without them finding out.

The Alaska cruise is my mom's dream vacation too 😢 I wish I could afford to give that to her, she was also a single mom, thankfully she only had me to raise, I can't even imagine how she'd manage 2 more, she's also worked at a retirement home for 31 yrs, she gave up her dream career to be a chef so she could raise me, I hope one day I can give her the same gift. THIS. This is why I am starting my youtube journey. I want to have the ability to do nice things like this for those I love, especially Mom. She was a single mom too and she is 100% the reason I am not a worthless train wreck. I want to be able to give her a nice vacation, pay her back for all the money she dumped into me and my siblings as adults, and--most importantly--I want to be able to build her a comfortable handicapped-accessible home near mine for when the time comes that she needs help. Come hell or high water, my mother will never be a long-term nursing home resident!

I've been on an Alaskan cruise too. It was wonderful. My mom grew up for a few short years in Juneau at the school. My grandfather was in the coast guard & Juneau was one of the places he was stationed at. On our cruise, our last stop in Alaska was short lived. We were at a cabin place, had multiple cabins upper & lower levels for a good number of people to stay at. Had a small restaurant & gift shop there too. Across the road was like a gas station but also like a market inside. The trip we had was how my grandfather wanted to pass away, and we didn't find out til we read his will. His will wished for his ashes to be spread over Mt McKinley too. We've yet to be able to do so. Hopefully some day. A favorite highlight of the trip was my mom being able to rent a car for us to use and she got to see an old friend of hers from school in Juneau. We also went to a small beach like area with soft sand and it was a warm enough day to take our socks and shoes off and enjoy the sand, but don't stick around when the tide starts coming in, that water is freezing, lol! We also got to see whales. I loved that! Oh, and the sled dogs and see them training! It felt like such a peaceful trip and I was just a young teen and I enjoyed it. No need for cell phones to entertain you. I went to the library/jigsaw puzzle room. The gift shop always stocked new things at each stop we went to. Your mom is going to really enjoy that trip. As long as she doesn't get sea sick, although the waters are so calm. Btw, there's a place in Juneau who makes the best cookies to top off some ice cream, mmmm! Well I would hope they're still there by the bay.
