It's not easy to recover from people getting into your space invading your privacy. I had 2 breakings in my home in 2017 and every night when I go to bed I log myself and my 2 kids in a bedroom and pray that the morning comes and we still safe. The trauma is real and never leaves

The incompetence of the SAPS is beyond me. My sister was also invaded and neighbours came to her rescue after hearing commotion. The perpetrator was taken by cops and we never heard back from them. No statement was taken, no investigation, nothing. It's as if they gave him a ride to a safe haven. When we tried to enquire we get no response. So basically the victim has to retraumatize themselves by searching for the criminal in order to receive justice. It's rediculously painful and they don't give an inch.

As someone who works in the media, this episode made me realize that every form of crime need to be highlighted , reported about on the news etc. The after-effects are so harsh and painful for the victims I cant even begin to imagine the psychological impact. She is such a strong person and her story is eye opening

She’s so brave 😭❤️ Such a trigger for me, 2016 they broke into our home. I haven’t healed, still so traumatized. I literally have to lock the door just to pee. Thieves come into your house trying to steal materialistic things but they take your peace. I carry my pepper spray with me all the time now. So traumatized

Nomthi's story is a trigger for me...waking up to a click of a gun pointing in between your eyes, 3 men standing on top of us, me and my sister shared the same bed that night, long story short they were sent to our neighbor's house, whose Indian...when they heard my sister speaking to them in Xhosa begging them not to go in the children's room, that when they looked at each other and be like we got the wrong people.. they actually cut the glass door and dropped it floating in the swimming pool, morning after we put trelidors all over, even both ends of the staircase which extremely unsafe should fire happen...I AM PROUD OF NOMTHI❤

So proud of you Nomthi. You fought for your justice even when the cops failed you. I can understand that violation of space. I have had my house broken into in my first month of living in a foreign country. I have never felt safe there again. COVID coming around and offices being closed down helped me since I could go back home. In as much as I was not awake during the incidence, I could not shake that feeling that my house was no longer my safe space. You are so smart to have even been recording while all that was happening. I hope you find total healing from this trauma ❤️

There are 2 fights, the fight that evening and the fight afterwards, to build up your life again, but in a different way. Your body needs to heal, your mind n soul needs to heal but the scars are there. The fight is a daily fight, against anxiety, fear, frustration, powerlessness, depression, loneliness and the loss of who you were and how life was.... Nomthi you are a powerful woman. Wow. I'm in awe of your strength and resilience. You fought like a lioness, keep fighting for yourself now. You will find peace and a fulfilling life again. It will be different but different can also be beautiful. All the best 🦁 ❤

She went through so much trauma; just hearing the story made my skin crawl - it must have been terrifying. She is so strong and a fighter; I cannot even begin to imagine what I would've done in that situation. I pray for her healing and peace of mind; it is unfortunate that one has to take such extra precautionary measures just to feel safe. The SAPS needs to do better - in terms of the quality of policing (healthier people; people who want to protect and not just doing it for money; fast response & someone always at the phone; questioning, etc) Nowadays, people do service jobs just to get an income but don't even do the job right. They don't value their work, at all. Tbh this is one of the reasons why I'm hesitant to move back to SA. It is unsafe, nje. We are just living by the grace of God there, and the government gives 0 f**ks. What a damn shame.

I am only seeing this episode now. It's so heartbreaking. I have been attcaked on so many incidents in different parts of SA and all I can say is that, with the number of attacks I have experienced, I realised that I am alone as a woman and the protection/justice system is nonexistent. I have gone from fighting 3 men attacking me while jogging at 6am, to a man breaking into my bedroom at 1am while I was naked, to a man jumping off a tree unto while walking in the streets and trying to be raped by 3 men, to men shooting at me at 9pm through my kitchen window, the list goes on for me. The trauma is causes is beyond measure. I couldn't walk infront of a window or close curtains for months, I couldn't jog for years. I still till this day, get a mini panic and fright everytime I hear any sound at night and I need ensure it's just the rain/wind/birds. But that causes anxiety, insomnia, fatigue, etc and it affects ones life so drastically. Our Protection service is by far the biggest failure, honestly my biggest, faithful, effective protector is and always has been God because yeeeiii, I've men physically by myself😂😂

Something similar happened to us in Bryanston and let me just say to everybody who's reading comments, it's the most traumatic thing that can ever happen to you. People we are living in a lawless conscious, crime infested South Africa and you should take AlL kinds of safety precautions in your houses.

This is so sad but common. When I was in university i lived 3stories up. I was having a dream about my deceaded grandma and the fear from it woke me up. At 01:00 I woke up to a dirty ,druggy man standing over my bed. I had locked my door from inside so it was just us, me in my tiny Pjs. He came in through my window, he must have scaled the walls. I had left small knife on my side table after a night snack. I pulled it at him and he immediately snatched it out of my hand. Then I started apologizing and told him to take what he wants. Funny that night at 20:00 I sent my mom a long text about how much I love and appreciate everything she's done for me. As if I was saying goodbye. How terrible it would have been if I was harmed or died. I decided my life was more important. The man took my phone and laptop then climbed out. I reported to the police, they came that night. Then again in the morning coz I lived near by. The window had his finger prints on the white window sill. I asked if they were going to take them, they laughed it off. They said to come report my case. When I went, the one police woman asked me if I am sure that it was not my boyfriend and proceeded discussing with the others how it could be a boyfriend of mine. I did not even have a boyfriend. Khona why would I make this up about anyone let alone a boyfriend. The disrespect, I was hurt shem. Nothing was done. Just a case number and that's it. I thank God and my ancestors for their protection.

Glad that she lived to tell this terrible tale. Sis Nomthi sorry babe for having gone through this. You are a born fighter. Sis @Relebogile Mabotja, please do a video and interview people who have lost their parents through covid, my sister some of us are going through the most trying to accept the loss of our parents, covid is the devil himself; it feels nothing like natural death as they write in the death certificates. Please sis, I hope im making sense and I hope you see this.

@@xoliswakayumba8357 There's nothing like seeing your loved one who was alive like 2 days ago wrapped in a plastic bag and have their coffin sprayed like they are some alien that fell from whatever planet. We understand they do all that to contain the spread of the infection but it doesn't make anything better...Most relatives are never even allowed to view their loved ones for the last time. We were allowed to because my dad had to be cremated and for them not to burn the wrong corpse we had to view him😔.

I lost a bro in law, it was so mysterious. I shared this experience with a colleague whose sister had an encounter with c19 as well. Fortunately for her she had a woke Dr. When she was hospitalized for ventilator the Dr said to my colleague please report to me every single thing your sister complains about. The sister kept complaining about how uncomfortable and weird the ventilator was. My colleague relayed to the Dr. The Dr went to hospital, checked the ventilator and found that it was set too high. He reduced it to a comfortable level. This saved a life. To anyone reading this please share with people around you. Covid deaths most of them are negligence, we don't even know if that is strategy but yeah don't just trust ventilator. I could tell lots of stories from info I got through research but yeah let us do our bit to avoid these things and not just trust the system.

Thixo wam😭 I've been shivering since part 1. Where are women ever supposed to be safe in this country? I would have died from shock and anxiety right there inside the car just from seeing a dark figure. He would have had everything easy, because I WOULD HAVE DIED qha. What a strong woman. You're truly blessed Nomthi. Thank God for your life.

This is so sad maan 😥,what kind of men that harm women like this😢? Hurting women bcos you want to steal what she worked hard for? And you call yourself a man, these boys are lazy coward thugs. Unfortunately we are living in the lawless country where not even the police can help us.They always come late if they do,she would have died if it was not for her fighting for her own life. Shout out to the neighbours 👏 for helping her. Sisi you did a great job,be proud of yourself. These criminals even speak English while at it,hhheeyyyii 😆
