I've been there. A lot of abusers, go for women who have been previously assaulted or grew up in an abusive household. They look for women who might be struggling with addiction, or just their own demons. Hugh Hefner definitely fits this mo. He was feeding girls drugs for God sakes. He gave them an allowance, but it's never enough to actually do anything with such as go back to school or start a business. It's all manipulation, the money is just to make you believe that you're free. I'm so proud of Holly for doing this interview 💯 And I'm definitely going to be analyzing it on my channel❤

(Some people like myself, have zero living family) What if ,her family wasn’t able to have her back in the home. I don’t see any reinvention? Everything she’s doing is about Playboy still, 17 years later. We still see the same misogynistic behavior towards other women, and reinforcement of the same beauty standards. On her pod, she talks about all the plastic surgery she gets, always anti aging treatments as if it’s unthinkable for a woman to age naturally, and how Holly’s always on restricted diets like keto. She went on tangents how she does laser treatments, really wanted “hand rejuvenation” injections next, and did in-office cellulite treatments recently. It is fine if you wanna do plastic surgery more power to you, ….but it isn’t a reinvention. It’s the same misogyny as Playboy. It’s what she promotes. Even quite literally, as Holly’s podcast is sponsored in part by SomoBello liposuction company. Listeners get to hear it all being promoted. I’d like to see some more growth. Hef was a bad guy, we all feel her on that. But show us how you’re different.

It's interesting because Holly has said in the past that Bridget really was naturally the epitome of "Disney princess" (and known as "the girliest one" in the GND trio) so having Bridget as her best friend really helped Holly bring that aspect of fantasy into coping with life at the mansion - Holly at her core is more of the vintage Disney and 50s/60s cartoons era Oddly enough, Crystal Hefner is also obsessed with Disney and is even a Club 33 member (which costs $$$$ per year)

Hefner's Playboy mag (and other media) was NEVER about empowering women. It's first and only goal was the sexual gratification of men. His mag would adapt itself to the current culture only to provide men with advice on how to get laid, what they had to wear and say to entice women. Any attempt to notice women's rights was with the angle of placating them to get sex. I never saw women modeling for Playboy, or working in the club as empowering or embracing their sexuality. It was always coercive in my view. I know there are some who disagree, and I fail to understand how they can delude themselves into thinking that way.

My father left mags everyone and I read a few but my point is as a woman in her forties, three kids and married, Im thoroughly grossed out by the younger pics being apart of it. I can see how the term "empowering" can be applicable to young women who feel "empowered" in so far that their beauty allows them to manipulate men or make easy money. Girls I have known that were strippers felt "in charge" of their own finances by making way more money than they could any other way, being young with no real world work experience. Same can be said of any only fans girl in today's world that makes money from providing that sort of content. Is this healthy? Probably not, but "empowered" for young beautiful women who are just starting to see how their looks can influence those around them and provide opportunity that others can't get is a real thing. The delusion in those young women, is thinking that that way of living will last forever. When developing an actual skill-set and personality will serve them in the long run.

I’ve always been proud of her for leaving the mansion bc she was too good for gross Hefner. We have all been in bad relationships. I loved when her book came out and bought it. Watching Holly's lack of eye contact is truly telling. People who are diagnosed later in life, the lack of eye contact happens later, because they've spent their whole life masking. As an adult who was also diagnosed at the age of 37, I respect these elements of human emotion. I call myself a Christ-follower, and my neurotypical partner gets angry sometimes because he wants me to call myself a Christian. To me, I only have so many spoons for each day and I use them first to brush my teeth, take a shower, put on makeup, make it to work.... and if I'm then able to make it home, wash my face, get to bed on time, then it's a blessed day. I'm not a millionaire, but I try so hard.

It’s surprises me how much I relate to Holly. I hid under extra clothes when I was younger and was not ever in a non monogamous relationship (well, I was cheated on in past relationships). However, I still grew to have such similar ideas as Holly. The be careful of lovebombing thing has been my advice to others for over a decade except I didn’t use the term but just explained the sentiment/experience. It was my advice for those being lovebombed and those doing the lovebombing in the beginning of a relationship. I’d remind the love bomber to to ask themselves if it was love or infatuation. I’d ask them to if they were in love with the person or the idea of the person. I’d remind them that the person is a human being and be careful not to put them too high up on a pedestal because then they’ll just fall down.

I read her book when it first came out & have recommended it to everyone ever since, the interviews are Great but very surface level-her story’s much deeper so you gotta read the book! I always find it weird when people say they love true crime. I get what they mean but people were hurt and the families are still struggling.

I watch true crime to analyze the court cases and to learn how to be more careful and aware of my.surroundings and situations. I absolutely feel for the families not everyone watches it for entertainment. She.also mentioned The Victoria Secret Documentary which is different than Dateline.

I grew up watching the Girls Next Door. I was 16 when it was airing. I took acid one time, in my parents home, from my first boyfriend. The trip kicked in right when it was his designated time to leave. I started to have the WORST TRIP. I called my boyfriend who came back, telling my mom he forgot his wallet. He comes upstairs to my room, having no clue what to do. He laid with me for a minute and before he left again, he put The Girls Next Door on, knowing how much I loved the show, and I slowly started coming out of the *bad* trip. Never took hallucinogens EVER ZAGAIN.

I noticed something in the first 2 minutes. I am on the spectrum, diagnosed in my 40’s. I notice her blinking and the eye closing when she discusses things that are emotionally charged, my doctor pointed that out with me. I do it any time I’m uncomfortable and can’t look people on the eye, it physically is uncomfortable and a trait many on the spectrum share. I’m proud of her for being vulnerable and speaking out ❤
