Dude! You were in my backyard! I live in indio and have been out to Salvation Mountain many times. I had the privilege of meeting and chatting with Leonard several times. I even got a personal tour from him. He was definitely a unique person. I was always amazed at how he could live out in the open desert year round. Temps over 120' are not uncommon. It's nice to see the foundation is maintaining his message. Happy trails!

As a foreigner I find it so fascinating how many weird and wonderful places both natural and man made one can find in the US of A, and of course so many incredible people that make or look after them so dedicated to their particular chosen enterprise.

Slab City IS NOT a place with no laws. They are subject to ALL federal, state, and county laws. Slab City is one big garbage dump. These KZbin videos always distort what it is really like. From May to November it is 100 to 117 degrees EVERY DAY. There is no water. There is no electricity. There is no sewage system. There is no garbage service. Welcome to Slab City.

Doodle, watching you grow as a motorcyclist AND as a fearless adventurer makes my heart happy. I’ve always tried to teach my daughters to be fearless explorers and now they’re teaching my grandkids the same lessons. My adventures around the world have taught me that people everywhere want the same thing…happiness, freedom, good food, and to be surrounded by friends and family. Well done, Doodle!

So how about this, stay three days alone. Just three days. You can also maybe ask what happens to people when their neighbors disagree with them. I'll give you a hint, it involves gasoline and matches. The place isn't some hipster commune where they do art and look at Crystal. Most folks out there are broken, bad people.

Slab City and its people are pretty neat, TBH. Venture there with respect and you'll get respect right back. Go there and act like a DB, you'll get checked real fast, and leave without your belongings. :) Darwin, CA is another neat little place. It's relatively close to Cerro Gordo. It, too, is a town without laws. Most of its residents are wealthy hippies who the are live-let live type of folks. Peter Santenello did an episode on the town and its people.

Hyperbole much? I watched a video where one of the "freedom lovers" talked about what an inconvenience it was to have to spend an entire day just to sign up for food stamps. Imagine, being annoyed at spending one single day to get free groceries the rest of your life. In fact, he said almost everyone out there is on food stamps. Freedom and peaceful? As long as their living off the backs of Americans who are willing to work hard and pay their taxes so these folks can eat. What a joke.

That tower at 7:29 reminds me of an obstacle course tower in the Army, except you had no stairs or ladders. Had to lift each other up to get to the top. The steps look like a much easier way to go up, but in the Army, when you got to the top, you had to use a zip line to get back down, ah good times... hehe Take care Caroline, ride safe.

Between you and Amanda I just ordered and received my Sand 4 H2O jacket. How baggy is it for you when you have all the liners out of it and are using it like a summer jacket? The biceps are HUGE!
