I worked out in a basement gym for years, loved it. The “worst gym” here is like my current gym and I think it’s great. Don’t listen to others when choosing gym.

I think most ratings are more for cleanliness than anything else, but when you have a cheaper customer base they end up not picking up after themselves. When youre in a nice place youre more likely to put stuff back and throw stuff away for appearances. The staff can also walk around every now and then and clean but like people not putting napkins in the trash or putting weights and equipment back in their place is just trashy and very telling of the people who go there

The "worst gym" in this video is my current gym and I love it. Nothing too fancy, not as bad as depicted. Jesse is definitely making it look a lot worse, but I think it's great. The mess isn't the gym, it's the people that go there. And the influencer/bodybuilders that go to alphaland are much less likely to leave napkins on the floor.

The thing is that we all would LOVE to go to a top notch 5 star gym, but the membership I could imagine is like $100+ a month, while a low tier gym may be dirty and a complete mess, but is overall affordable for everyday normal people.

@Dylan Drake Are you serious now? Even in the depths of Russia, the cheapest gym costs at least 20 per month. A normal gym without premium masseurs costs about 55. I now pay the same amount in a happy poor country of the European Union in Slovakia, halls also cost from 30 to 90 euros. I go to a rather small and cramped one for 55 just because it's in front of my house.

You have a point there, Jesse. My biggest weakness when it comes to the gym (or basically anything) is being easily distracted. I get distracted a little too easily, and I hate that. Also, sometimes, I wish I wasn't trying so hard to talk to people; even though I can be a bit shy and introverted. Problem is: I've been lonely my entire life and I just want a human connection. Sometimes, being social is hard.

I live fairly close to Philly and I’m not surprised that the LA fitness Jesse went to was such a mess just like the city it’s in. Makes me grateful how much care the workers and management puts into the La fitness I go to. Clean equipment, everyone puts away the weights after using them and 9 out of 10 people you’ll meet are humble. Also, I knew the moment you were gonna leave the money in the locker room it was definitely gonna be gone. That’s Philly for you.

To the la fitness I went to for the first time was actually really clean, no dirty napkins, no random equipment on the floor, bathroom was clean and overall it was a good experience for me going to la for the first time. I guess it just depends on location.

the gym i go to, cleverfit (in austria), seems more like alphaland than la fitness it is very clean, with a very aesthetically pleasing design the only gripes i have with it is that its pretty small and so you have to wait quite a lot if a certain exercise is currently occupied still love it

@jessie James west The best test (which I always do) to find out how clean a gym is, you grab a wipes (anti bacterial) and just do a couple of heavy wipes of a seat, and most gyms (in Australia in the three star or less department) are dirty as a crop field

My first gym is basically a garage, with rusty weights and bars. But still grateful for it, without that gym I wouldn't be able to do what I'm doing now than spend to a costly gym and not know anything. Better start very² cheap then learn basics, then along the way, when u feel like equipments is not enuff for u anymore, then its time to move.

My local gym is just an “abandoned” airport and they use the small airplane hangars for “gyms” they all have the same layout just there is 3 of them. Weights on one side and treadmills on the other. Only problem no one goes to it 😂. A Farmer got it with the land from the previous farmer who owned it and he turned it into a gym because he didn’t had another guy who had a plane so he didn’t need the mini air port thing.
