Thanks for taking the time to explain this while you were installing this stuff! It's one thing to tell someone how to do something, but it's even better to see a visual of the process. Really appreciate your time Dex.

Lol, it coulda been for clicks or likes . . Or just another opportunity to hear a southern accent explain what's wrong with this/yer Jeep. If I sound bitter, it's only because I'm jealous of his parts yard
@davidmoore_oo13 ай бұрын
No exaggeration, thats exactly what happens. Mismatched steering angles induce an unbalanced, often cyclical, force, without enough damping, it'll hit resonance and wobble ya to death. By the books, I'm an engineer, but im the dumbest smart guy I know, and appreciate your Jeeps work/projects. I'm all AMC Jeep, even have an Eagle SX4

I have a BK Fabworks 1 ton steering kit on my JK Rubicon. It was the most affordable kit on the market… and with a no questions asked warranty. That had me sold for sure so I told a friend of mine who also has a JK and he pulled the trigger. All of the same purchase. Easy to install and a great product all the way around..

Hey those welds look pretty good actually. The one thing I personally don't like is the 1/2" of threads holding that heim into the track bar--the skinny tapered part at that. I think you want at least an inch of threads, preferably more. The other thing I'd suggest doing is tack welding your lock nuts after it's all dialed in.

after chasing the wobble myself i found the frame rails flex as the next failure point. but this over the axle would reduce the leverage wrenching the rail back and fourth under heavy tires the unibody was never made to deal with. the mass is not there to hold it. so 50 mph is the top cruise speed for a woodser. if you want a highway cruiser get a grand and leave it alone!

So I've been constantly plagued by excessive rattling and bump steer, no death wobble yet. But I've literally replaced every ball joint, tie Rod, CV, wheel bearing, control arm, control arm bushing, every bushing for that matter, and even welded fender washers for additional material to bolt to. Still shakes and rattles and bump steers

I saw your problem instantly when I saw your pinion angle. Your front diff is so rotated from your lift that you have no positive caster. Your upper ball joint needs to be behind the lower. Yours is right above it or in front. So your front wheels have death wobble like shopping cart front wheels.
@davidmoore_oo13 ай бұрын
Yes, this is also the main factor in "wandering steering". Excellent point
@RB-lf7bo Жыл бұрын
Change the angel on the diff so top king pin is back to the firer wall and the bottom is more to bumper .....you know so it's not like a shopping cart front wheel doing death wobble...🤔

Do you find it better to run cv axles than stock u-joint style?
@dexjs Жыл бұрын
I personally do but they both have pros and cons.
@AA-tb4ff Жыл бұрын
@@dexjs what are the pros and cons? grand cherokee axles have cv stock and i ask because i have both styles one with u joint and one with cv and am wondering which one you think is better
@MrMrsregor Жыл бұрын
@@AA-tb4ffif I remember correctly. He said that if you break a cv axle, you can keep driving the rest of the day. But if you break a ujoint in the axleshaft, the ears can start to overlap and when they stack on top of each other they can push the ball joints out or break them. And the cost of replacing a cv axleshaft if not much more than a ujoint, but if you break a ujoint, you typically end up breaking axle shafts and have to buy new axle shaft too But I feel like the cv is not quite as strong, but less risk, amd cheaper to fix
@promotionaltoaster9 ай бұрын
There really is no reason to run high-clearance bars. - The tie rod is a pain in the ass to set toe. - The drag link is a pain in the ass to set your steering wheel. - The drag link sags from weight and increases the angle difference between track and drag, thereby increasing bump steer to some degree. Just cut your sway bar mounts off and run straight bars. Straight bars also let you get that perfect adjustment.
