Tracy what great progress you have made. A lot of people think decluttering is to become a minimalist and that is just not true for everyone. Decluttering to me is to get my house to where I am happy with it and I can manage the contents. Keep on going. April you are so good at helping people and encouraging them without being judgmental about what they want to keep. A good example to me is the puffy coats. Tracy does have quite a few but now that she has them in one spot and can see what she has it definitely will help stop buying more. Love the video.

Thank you for your words ❤ I'm german and can't describe what I think so well in English. Glad you did it for me! 😊 Tracy is still ja maximalist and people have to accept that a maximalist is a maximalist and NOT a minimalist! I think the people saw too many minimalistic wardrobes under the decluttering topic and have problems to accept that maximalist exist too!? 😮

April has the patience of a saint here. On the other hand, especially when you have such a strong emotional connection to your things, starting "just" organizing is a big step. If she can keep this system she will see of what she has too much over time. And then she can declutter some more. I guess it's like loosing weight - and then maintining that weight and new habits. Then go on again. Still, some tough love can be helpful from time to time 😅

Absolutely the same! Dani is like the gold standard of getting your stuff in order, she inspires me so much!! Tracy is doing so so much better though and I can see she is working hard to let stuff go but I worry that the great unhoard might be just another way of holding onto things. I’m only 5 minutes in so fingers crossed!!!
@pk5194
@pk5194 5 ай бұрын
To be honest, last episodes with Dani were quite boring, she is easy to let go clothes (esp it is easy if they simply doesn't fit her size anymore) but didn't get rid of much in the kitchen (stuff he likes). This is the same type of hoarding, just different category of things. Tracy wears her stuff but does Dani use all her Starbucks mug collection? I doubt it. I personally would suffocate and never cook in the cluttered (even after decluttering) kitchen like hers :( And also, I think it is much worse to hold things and never use it, eg like makeup collection they throw away with Dani. Wasted money, wasted product, took away from someone who could use and enjoy it. But we all have our lessons. It's good that she came to her senses now with April, but if you have looked at Dani before, you might criticize just the same. So let's not judge Tracey too hard, it is just the beginning of her journey, we never know how she will be in few years. Both ladies are at different points of their awareness, and kudos to April to show both ways!

A sock pair for every day of the year! Bless! I need my house done, but I’m in Brisbane, Australia. Single mum of two teen boys, and I don’t know where to start. I love these decluttering videos and I feel inspired whenever I watch, but at the same time I feel overwhelmed when I look at what I have in front of me. Bin night is the best night but the most scary night. Even junk mail builds up and freaks me out! Emptying out the fridge of leftovers that the kids haven’t eaten scares me. Heaven forbid checking expiry dates…. I’m not a hoarder, just a mum who needs a helping hand getting my life in order

I am very minimal with my clothes, but I love this series with Tracy. She has decluttered a fair chunk of her stuff, and if she loves the rest of it and wants to keep it then that's great. It's realistic that part of 'making space' is trying to wrangle and organise collections like this so the person involved can enjoy what they have and not buy duplicates. I'm sure it will be beneficial to Tracy and will 'make space' in her mind as well as her home.

I see a lot of myself reflected in Tracy. I am definitely on the spectrum of "clothes attachment" and love to express my creativity through funky clothes, however, at age 67 and being overweight my options are limited! lol! Creative minds are cursed/blessed with an abundance of child like enthusiasm for color and unique styles! The world needs all the Tracy's....as well as the April's to harness us in once in a while. I personally, have implemented the "container" method. Telling myself that the universe has limited my space for a reason...gently revealing to me where my personality has a tendency to lead me to overload and overwhelm. I totally get you Tracy...just keep plugging away and you will experience the freedom of less stuff to manage. Our creative brains were never meant to handle so much inventory! ❤❤❤ * I think labels on the outside of the closet doors would also be a big help, especially when you are in the beginning phase of learning a new approach to being organized. The house keeper would appreciate it as well.

@smarterthanawaffle Yes doing laundry by hand is hard work if you are dealing with more than a couple of light weight items. My late mother once said to me that the washing machine was the best liberator for women! That maybe sounds sexist but even now every survey I've ever heard of says the majority of women do more than 50% of the housework. My mother made that statement when she still used a basic twin tub machine, it took her a while to adjust to the idea of getting a fully automatic washing machine. Here in the UK twin tub washing machines were still not uncommon in the eighties. I hope that you are able to aquire a washing machine (even a used one) in the foreseeable. Good luck.🍀

I encourage Tracy to consider what "I wear it" means. Has she worn it in the last year, did she wear it last Fall/Winter or Spring/Summer? She has way too many clothes to actually be wearing them all each season. There just aren't that many days per clothes 😊

@@fabigrossi2976I agree. Sometimes occasions come along after a couple years and you are happy to choose from your collection. Also I’m finally slimming down after several stressful years. So I’m glad I did not succumb to giving all my slimmer clothes away too strictly. Feeling organized helps to slim down though 😅😂

I have experience with ADHD and hoarding disorder. I worry that when Traci says ”I’ll probably end up getting rid of more…” she is just saying that to please April. She won’t get rid of anything, but she will buy more. Without professional counseling for the cause of her hoarding she will continue on this road. I hope I’m wrong. Traci is a cute sweet bubbly person and I am hoping only the best for her.

I said it earlier and I’ll say it again, I love Tracey, she is such a happy, bubbly, positive and beautiful person. She brings good vibes and is glowing. She reminds me very much of my late Aunt who passed 2 years ago. Tracey is a younger version of my Aunt who had a similar character. My Aunt had very many clothes, jewellery, & house items but had a very large house with 7 bedrooms, all was kept in fantastic condition. The smaller the house the harder it is to make space. I am similar to Tracey. My house is small and I have a lot of clothes, jewellery & items. I am decluttering. I can tell you it is very hard and takes time. I took out a lot of jewellery tonight for charity from one of my cases and my case still feels heavy. I can understand all the decluttering challenges Tracey is going through as I’m going through the same. One day at a time, we will get there, sending love & happiness to Tracey 🩷

Started declutting and moving things around in my kitchen, having 2 of my adult kids and one of their boyfriends living at home with me, some things don't work good for them, so changing things so they are more willing to put them in the right place, and at same time thought I should get rid of things I no longer need or I've replaced them with something better. As I've always had a hard time letting go of things, it is slow, I just work on one area at a time, doing that in all the rooms, we are wanting to m9ve within a year, so I like to get this all done before we move, so I'm not taking things I don't need or want.

I am in process of downsizing after being in my home 41 years. It's a work in progress for sure. I have given my girls things and donated lots. Don't want to leave my girls a mess to go through. We are all different and have different interests and attachments to our stuff. I know the season of life I am in that I am changing my perspective on things. Thatsock pile is amazing! Untreated ADD. Don't believe things will change for Tracy. Believe the host is trying to teach a hoarder how to organize her clutter. So many duplicates of items of clothing that could be used and appreciated by those truly in need. The more you purchase to store the more room you have to purchase and fill. Great job! We are all individuals and too much for one person is just right for another. If we have space to safely use our rooms and enjoy the people and things in our lives then it’s okay. I hope Tracy is able to find a balance where she feels less overwhelmed however if she always needs support and help with this, that’s okay too. We don’t have to cope by ourselves. It’s okay to lean on others for support. Hugs. 😊❤🐦

For me, I've found I have to set the space that X will occupy and keep only that amount. I have to release something to bring something new in . Also, EVERYTHING has a space it belongs. This works for me. My point? Each of us will have to try and id the system that works for each of us based on our personalities and the constraints we're working in.
