I'm trying to create that macro but not working :(. I came from logic and that duplicate track what he was talking about is indeed very handy. I kinda do the hard way by scrolling all the way to the instrument and drag it back in.. I was in de macro menu adding the commands but there is no " Delete selected item " command. Hope someone can help out. tnx anyway

Pull up eraser tool by pressing 3 erase or right click del. He’s reaching for content I think. Not having the track and channel 1 to 1 allows more flexibility. You can have multiple tracks going to one instrument duplicate MIDI try different sounds, layer different sounds and other creative things.

Thanks for the video. I'm thinking of switching from Ableton Live to Logic Pro - one of the reasons is that Ableton has just closed randomly on the different M1 computers I've used. I'm curious about using a DAW that integrates with the Apple ecosystem. Maybe that's intentional on Apple's part - sabotage the user experience for every DAW besides Logic ... Past that, I've always been curious to understand Logic Pro, and now seems like a good time.

In a little over two decades of working with DAW’s, I’ve pretty much used them all …from Cool Edit Pro (now Adobe Audition), Logic 4.2 (when it was still on the Windows platform), Ableton Live, Cakewalk, Nuendo (from version 1.0), Samplitude, Pro Tools, Cubase, etc. I’ve mixed commercial studio sessions in Pro Tools …the so-called ‘gold standard’. Nothing could be further from the truth. Words like ‘clunky, cumbersome, unintuitive & unreliable’, best describe the experiences. Guess what? I came home to what is, IMHO, not only the best writing/composing & producing platform …yet also, the most organic, intuitive, flexible & powerful ‘mixing’ platform: Logic. To put it simply, my mixes sound like the old-school 80s & early 90s R&B, funk, rock, pop & smooth jazz records that I grew up listening to …by the likes of Flyte Tyme Productions (Jam & Lewis), Laface records, Paisley Park, Marcus Miller, etc. No other DAW has yielded mixes like that. Oh, and I don’t own use high end plugins, either, like Waves, SSL, UAD, etc. Other than the stock Logic plugins & IK Multimedia, it’s mainly a bunch of no name, free, or under $25 stuff. Well, that’s my ole’ timer’s 2 cents on the subject. Keep on making great content. Thx.

You can definitely do automation follow in studio one and I would say it’s better than protools but I understand. I think you have to spend more time to get the full use out of S1.
@Yhuntermusic3 жыл бұрын
You’re right! S1 can do automation follows events but that’s only for Highlighted events. If you have multiple automation movies on a bus (in this case sends) it will only move what’s shown on the automation lane.

@@Yhuntermusic Welcome back to logic. 13yrs in logic vs few months in S1 😂😂😂 you have to take your time with S1, it is a powerful DAW and your first reason can be sorted by using macro bro.
@kenporter60593 жыл бұрын
You could have created a macro to copy Logic's behavior and then given it a key command, i.e. Duplicate Track (complete), Select All Events on Track, Delete. Regarding automation not following the event, that's a preference setting under the advanced/automation setting. You may have jumped ship too soon. :)
@Yhuntermusic3 жыл бұрын
I did learn about the macro system and it’s FIRE! No doubt! Automation follows events (for me) on a Bus only worked on highlighted automation only. Glad I didn't purchased it in the past since I have the trial, but Logic Pro 10.7 seems more of an attention because of these powerful features. One is Dolby Atmos/Spatial Audio, which this is huge. I like mixing Dolby Atmos. I want to create some worship music with both Stereo and Dolby Atmos. I am so excited to write music in Logic Pro, and mix my songs and have a second track for the Dolby Atmos/Spatial Audio version.

Logic is good, PRO tools is good but studio one is great! hands down one of the best DAWs out there, it's still on version 5 and still rivals many of the so called industry standard DAWs. I personally use studio one (still on v4.5) because of its workflow. Once you dive deep into studio one and understand it's super fast workflow it's game over. There is no such thing as the best daw ever... some people like working with 2-3 DAWs but in studio one you can produce without any hassle or crashes, mix without taking away your ideas and feeling and Master a whole album like a pro using it's Mastering suit! . Sorry I'm just a studio one fan boy! Gotta support the DAW we love! ❤ Also all my beats are produced mixed and mastered in studio one (some were even made in just 1-2 hours) because of studio one's super fast workflow Do check them out.✌

@Finians_Mancave Жыл бұрын
Sound libraries? Unless you're on an extremely tight budget, that has got to be the the least important factor in choosing a DAW for most people. Given how the subject of sample libraries is so subjective in needs and preferences, the vast majority of producers put together their own collection from among the hundreds of 3rd party libraries available. Speaking for myself, I couldn't care less if a DAW came with NO stock sample libraries. In that area I prefer Kontakt, and have a dozen or so libraries I have chosen over the years. To a slightly lesser degree I'd say the same holds true for the included stock effects as well.
I just went through the same thing with Cubase 11 pro, really tried to like it but I'm just too fast in Logic Pro as well as being more efficient/snappy on my 2015 macbook pro.

Its not true that in ProTools you have to manually route tracks to busses. Theres a very easy way: Select the tracks (in edit or mix window) you want to bus, than do right mouse click (while hold "shift+ alt") on the output of one of the tracks, and than you can chose "to new track". Than give it a name and "boom" you have an aux(bus) and all tracks are routed to it and the buss/aux is namend the same.

All modern DAWs are great, every with its own advantages and drawbacks. Our habits are powerful, many of us will choose what we are used to, and that's not only ok but very reasonable - why should anyone force yourself to the workflow he is not used to? The ideal DAW doesn't exist. This would be my ideal DAW: the base would be Studio One, but GUI from ProTools (not the modern dark, but older bright cream-pastel colors), tweakabilty/flexibility/scripting from Reaper, midi and some other cool stuff from Cubase, sound library from Logic etc. :)

I prefer Ableton and Logic. Most of the time, I am more creative when I start in Ableton...though not for orchestration. Ableton's session view is a great way to visually organize multiple takes. Even though Logic has something similar now, I feel like it's harder to use, requiring secret key commands, while Ableton's clickable UI is just more intuitive. BTW, I find Logic does have a cleaner sounding "Mix/Master" than Ableton even with the same 3rd party plugins (like FabFilter's stuff). Also, I have to admit I fight a lot more with FL Studio's UI and Cubase's UI to accomplish the same results...even though both those DAWs have some great sounding built-in instruments.

From what I'm hearing is that a cheap Mac Mini or M1 laptop run circles around an expensive PC desktop with the new Magic futuristic chip. If you switch you'll never look back

I switched to Studio One for most of 2021 after using Logic for three years. I'll say a lot of the things in Studio One just make sense. right-clicking on a region and being able to change the name or the overall velocity, it's just easy. using the numbers to switch between tools, just makes sense. But what I didn't like was how you can't save patch presets like you can in Logic, for example a keyboard preset you made. In my opinion, Logic needs to make it's automation better, and add a dedicated drum programming view. I ended up switching back to Logic because of the live Loops, and so I don't have to spend $15 a month on studio one when I already own Logic

You just didn’t take the time to learn studio one lol Take a while to switch from daws but I will say logic stock sounds has it beat. But there are some upsides in studio one like having melodyne integrated and the macros you can make are insane both are great stick to the one you kno bless 🙏🏾

Lol and I wish I had the time… Clients/Brand deals are coming in HOT and I gotta be confident in my workflow.. Logic it is 🤣
@KRMoore7312 жыл бұрын
True, I've been through a few DAW and ended up on studio one, but took me some time, I kept bouncing between the 2 daws until I was familiar enough in studio one to be confident in my work, especially when dealing with clients. Stick with what's best for you and makes sure you keep the lights on 💯👍🏾🙏🏾

I like studio one for making beats, I use impact, what does logic currently have. I’m use to the mpc or machine type workflows but I don’t see that logic has anything like this.

Work flow besides.. the taste test or hearing test is sound quality the math behind the 33 floating bit and just logics audio processing is way better then any DAW…

Wow, so you left Studio One because of an organ, copy track, or copy instrument. To go back to using two DAWs. Have fun with that. If there were more reasonable points than that I would get it. Sounds like you just want to go back and made up some weak reason to do it. I don't see how working out two DAW is a faster workflow. 😃😄😁 🤔

I left ultimately to do what I do well. If it means using 2 DAWS instead of 1, so be it. No one can ever tell me what works best for me...

The best is switching to Cubase the best of logic and the best of studio one

Funnily enough you get people who think that if you have Pro Tools, you’re guaranteed to make better music. That’s probably the dumbest thing I’ve heard, lol. Good music is good music. If you have a good audio interface like Apollo Twin and Logic Pro, and you have the knowledge, you can’t go wrong. You only really need to learn how to use Pro Tools to become a sound engineer. I’m sticking with Logic!
